Step 16: Before Leaving the Parking Area

• Remove chocks from the wheels.

• T est trailer hook - slowly pulling while applying the trailer brakes with the trailer brake hand control

• T est the service brakes before leaving the parking area.

• T est parking brakes stopping a 20% grade and applying the parking brakes. The parking brakes shall hold the combined vehicle and trailer without moving.

New V ehicle Break-In

T o ensure many years trouble - free the following breakprocedures are recommended:

Note: Oil change, filter change and chassis lubrication are longer required the 3,000 - mile vehicle breakinterval.

Refer the preventive maintenance schedules outlined the Maintenance and Lubrication Manual (TS494) for recommended lubrication change intervals for the following items:

• Gear oils (transmission, rear axle carrier[s], front drive axle carrier , transfer case, flywheel

• Engine oil

• Oil filters

• Fuel filters

• Coolant conditioner

Note: important that components filled with lubricants meeting the specifications given the Maintenance and Lubrication

During the First 5000 Kilometers (3000 Miles)

• After the first 200 (125 miles), retorque the wheel nuts using accurately calibrated torque wrench. Recheck this torque again after 800 (500 miles).

• Check oil and coolant levels frequently

• Check brake and clutch adjustments per recommended maintenance schedule, and adjust needed.

• Observe the instruments often, and shut down the engine the first sign any abnormal readings.
