MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICA TION TURBOCHARGER

The engine turbocharger operates very high speed, temperatures and pressure. T urbo bearing lubrication critical, particularly for a newly installed turbo one which has not been operated for a period time and all oil has drained from the bearing and shaft surfaces. T o avoid turbocharger bearing failure, the following instructions are recommended:

• Start the engine least every days ensure turbo bearing Operate engine low idle for least three minutes before increasing RPM driving the

• the engine has not been run for more than days, turbo pre - lube procedure necessary:

Pour clean engine oil into the oil inlet port the top the turbocharger until

Spin the compressor wheel hand several revolutions while wiggling the shaft back and forth. This ensures that oil distributed over all bearing surfaces.

Install the inlet air duct the turbocharger , and install the turbocharger drain tube (use a new gasket part Make sure that all clamps are tightened and positioned properly ensure leaks the intake

Disconnect the connector from the VTG control valve. pour clean engine oil into the turbocharger oil inlet port until and then reconnect the oil supply

Start the engine and allow run idle for least five minutes.

Note: Disconnecting the connector from the VTG control valve prevents the turbochar ger from reaching excessive speeds when the engine first

After the engine has run for least five shut the engine f and reconnect the VTG control valve connector

Use the V - MAC® service tool clear the fault code.
