Working with the machine

Hammer control with the analog stick

Make sure that the related mode is selected with the rotary switch S256

Fig. 3-86 Hammer control with the analog stick

Push the analog stick on the right joystick 3 to the left 7c Hydraulic hammer is activated. The activation of the analog stick to the right is not used.

Control of the grapple / shear (optional)

Install the grapple / shear. Refer to the section "Attaching and dismounting equipments parts" of this manual.

Danger!

Additional operating and control elements (joysticks/pedals) can have different functions.

Always check functions of operating and control elements when you start a machine which has an additional attachment.

For safety instructions, also turer.

For use and control, also refer to the Oper

Turn the grapple / shear

Push the button. The LED in the button comes on.

Push the analog stick on the left joystick 4 to the right R Grapple / shear turns to the right (seen from above).

Push the analog stick on the left joystick 4 to the left L Grapple / shear turns to the left (seen from above).

Push the button again. The LED in the button goes off. The turn function of the grapple / shear is off.

Open and close the grapple / shear

You can open and close the grapple / shear with the pedal or with the joystick.

Rotary switch for control selection (optional)

Use the rotary switch S256 to select one of the two control modes:

The two control modes cannot be activated at the same time. Open and close the grapple / shear with the pedal

Make sure that the related mode is selected with the rotary switch S256

Push right pedal 7c of U20 Grapple / shear is closed.

Push left pedal 7d of U20 Grapple / shear is opened.

Open and close the grapple / shear with the analog stick

Make sure that the related mode is selected with the rotary switch S256

Push the analog stick on the right joystick 3 to the right 7d Grapple / shear is opened.

Push the analog stick on the right joystick 3 to the left 7c. Grapple / shear is closed.

Combined movements

Moving a joystick diagonally results in the work functions concerned being combined. This allows different attachment movements to be activated at the same time.

The operator can do the following movements without any additional manipulations.

When the swing movement is actuated, all working functions / movements are possible without affecting the swing movement.

During travel, every attachment movement is possible, but the swing movement has priority. In this case, the travel movement is reduced.

3.4.4Lower the attachment when the electric motor is not running

In an emergency, the attachment can be lowered when the electric motor is not running.

Fig. 3-91 Lowering the attachment when the electric motor is not running

Turn the ignition key to contact position 1

Operate the joysticks or the foot pedals until the attachment has lowered.

This reserve is limited and is only sufficient for small movements of the pilot control devices.

Only operate the joystick in the directions for lowering the attachment.

3.4.5Overload warning device (optional)

If installed, the overload warning device tells when the machine is at its maximum load capacity. In this case, a visual warning comes on in the cab and you can hear a warning signal.

This option is available only for backhoe machines.

Danger!

Although the overload warning device is installed on the machine, it is only an information. It does not stop the machine. Thus, loads lifting remains the responsibility of the operator.

As a preliminary step:

Make sure that you obey all the precautions to prevent accidents.

Check the permitted load capacity of the machine on the related load chart label, which is located into the cab.

The load values can change if attachment parts and/or work tools are attached or disconnected. Thus:

Make sure that the attachment parts weights you use are always included in the load chart.

Start the overload warning device

You can start the overload warning device with the keyboard.

Push the "Overload warning device" button. The overload warning device is activated. All the LED in the button come on.

If the machine gets its maximum load capacity: You hear a continuous warning signal in the cab.

This symbol is shown on the display.

Stop the movement immediately. These warnings are on until the load is into the specified limit. In this case, the deactivation of the overload warning device is not possible.

If you switch to off the machine when the overload warning device is on, this status is recorded for the next start.

Deactivation of the overload warning device

You can stop the overload warning device. But, to prevent the accidental deactivation of the system, two steps are necessary to stop it.

Push the "Overload warning device" button. The overload warning device continues to operate. All the LED in the button flash. This symbol is shown on the display.

The system waits that you confirm the deactivation.

Thus:

If you do not push the S497 button in less than 5 seconds: The deactivation procedure is cancelled. All the LED in the button come on.

If you push the S497 button in less than 5 seconds: The overload warning device is stopped. All the LED in the button go off.

If you push at the same time "Overload warning device" and S497 buttons:

This symbol is shown on the display. The overload warning device continues to operate. The deactivation procedure is cancelled after 5 seconds.

If you switch to off the machine when the overload warning device is off, this status is recorded for the next start.

Failure of the system

Danger!

Do not do loads lifting works if the overload warning device is defective. Let specially trained personnel repair the defective overload warning device.

In case of failure of the system, you hear a warning signal in the cab and the symbol of the overload warning device is shown on the display. Related error codes are recorded.

3.4.6Pressurised attachment (optional)

When the machine works in a water environment, this optional system helps prevent water leakage into the attachment.

1 Cab display bracket

H181 Operation indicator light

S498 Pressurisation system actuator

The attachment pressurization system operates only when the electric motor is on. Start the electric motor.

Use actuator S498 to start the pressurization system. It is located on the cab display bracket 1

The system monitors the air pressure in the attachment continuously. Then, when the air pressure in the attachment is less than the minimum specified value:

The system starts to increase the air pressure automatically.

The indicator light H181 comes on.

When the air pressure in the attachment is correct, the system stops automatically.

The indicator light H181 goes off.

Use actuator S498 again to stop the system.

3.5.1Use a quick coupler (optional)

The optional quick coupler is used to attach optional special tools which replace the bucket (third member).

For safety instructions, also refer to th manufacturer.

1 Stick

VA1/2 Pressure ports for the quick coupler

Make sure that the pressure ports VA1 and VA2 are connected to the quick coupler as follows:

VA1 to the locking port

VA2 to the unlocking port

For use and control, refer to the related section of this manual.

Attach and remove a rotary tool with a quick coupler

Danger!

Risk of death or serious injury and risk of damage. The hydraulic lines which operate the quick coupler and a rotary actuator can be the same.

Before you attach or remove a rotary tool (e.g. grapple or shear) with a quick coupler, you must always disconnect the hydraulic lines.
