Diagnostic Sheets
N.B.: Before carrying out a diagnosis, ensure that there is an adquate quantity of good quality fuel.

The engine will not start. Battery discharged or damaged. Check and recharge the battery. If necessary replace the battery.
Battery terminal connectors loose or corroded. Clean, inspect and tighten the battery terminal connectors. Replace the cable terminals and the nuts if they are excessively corroded.
Incorrect timing of the injector pump.
Contamination or water in the fuel tank. Check and adjust the timing of the injector pump.
Detach the pipes and clean using compressed air. Remove and clean the injector pump. Remove the water from the fuel tank and refill.
Insufficient fuel. Refill the tank.
The engine fails to start at low temperatures.
No supply. Re-tighten or replace the supply or transfer pump.
Air bubbles in the fuel lines or the injector pump.
Check the pipes to identify the source of the air. Check the feed pump. Eliminate air from inside the injector pump by slackening the plug provided for the purpose and operating the feed pump manually. Defective starter. Repair or replace the starter.
Blocage of feed pipes by paraffin crystals resulting from the use of incorrect fuel.
Cold start automatic advance mechanism operating incorrectly. Replace the fuel with one that is compatible with low temperatures. Replace the fuel filters.
Send the feed pump for servicing or replace it. Contact an approvedBosch agent.
Always purge the feed lines.

Detach the pipes and clean using compressed air. Remove and clean the injector pump. Remove the water from the fuel tank and refill. Always purge the feed lines.
Fuel filter blocked. If required, remove and replace the fuel filter.
Air in the feed and injector pipes. Check the pipes for damage or loose connectors. Replace worn components, succesively eliminating air from the pipes and bleed the injector pump and fuel filter by slackening the special plugs and operating the feed pump manually.
Broken injector pump controls. Replace the injector pump.
Excessive play between camshaft lobes and cam followers.
Adjust the clearance by replacing the adjustment shims.
Valves burnt, corroded or damaged. Replace the valves, recut or replace the valve seat inserts in the cylinder head.
