V-Belt Maintenance Tips

Keep the V-Belts on yourengine in good condition. V-Belt failure can cause malfunctions of the charging system and overheating. Regularly do the following:

● Check forcracked, worn, orfrayed belts. On matched belt sets, always replace the complete set. If just

one belt is bad, uneven load on belts, pulleys, bearings, and shafts can occur.

● Check pulley grooves to make sure they are not worn, damaged, oraligned incorrectly. Poorbelt to

pulley contact will result in rapid wearand short life. Using a tension gauge, check belt tension afterinstallation and at every oil change. Adjust to ensure proper belt seating.
