Prewarning / Active Display

“xxx” and “yyy” will be invalid (~~~) when the Batch Flippers display is first shown; they are filled in when the Group Select key is pressed. The values revert back to invalid when Key-time expires. “d” is the direction indicator (< or >). The direction determines whether xxx or yyy is the beginning or ending shield. “typestring” is either “EXT” to activate flipper extend or “RET” to activate flipper retract.

The operator must use the Group Select keys to select a group of shields to one side. When the Group Select key is pressed, the Begin and End values shown in the Batch Flippers Display will change and the direction indicator will change.

I want to select shields to the left

The number of shields selected is determined by parameter “Group Size” under the Batch Flippers Section.

Pressing the Red Arrow key toggles the direction, changing which end of the group will start the flipper function first.

Pressing the Green Arrow key toggles the flipper action between “EXT” and “RET”.

Finally the operator reviews the selected shields and action option and then starts the Batch Flipper group by pressing the Start key.

To change the number of shields selected by the Group Select key, the operator must scroll right from the Batch Flippers display and change parameter “Group Size”.

When the operator pressed the Start key the selected shields will prewarn and display the Batch Flippers Active Display. The display will retain the default line2 (showing sensors value, etc.) while line1 will show “! FLIP !” followed by text that indicates the current action – either “RETRACT” or “EXTEND”. When the prewarning expires the operating logic actually triggers the function. The above screens do not change and a muted prewarning sounds for the duration of the function. © Caterpillar
