Starting And Stopping The Engines
Starting the engines
Start and operate combustion engines only on well-ventilated premises. Exhaust gases from diesel engines and some of their constituents may cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm.
In closed rooms, exhaust gases must be evacuated to the outside. Do not work on the exhaust system an do not make any modifications to it.
All control levers and pedals must be in position "0".
Activate the EMERGENCY SHUT-OFF switches (31, Fig. 2-77: and 2, Fig. 2-78:).
Turn engine speed control (56 and 66, Fig. 2-77:) to the left against the limit stop (idling speed).
Insert the key into the key-switch (32) and turn clockwise.
Activate the horn before you start the engines to give a warning signal to people around.
Start the engines one after the other.
Press button (51) for the lefthand engine. Release button (51) as soon as the engine has fired.
Press button (61) for the righthand engine. Release button (61) as soon as the engine has fired.
