Inspection and servicing

Battery main switch / Main fuse

The battery main switch and the main fuse are located under a lockable hatch (arrow, Fig. 3-42:) beside the batteries and the tool box.

Checking the battery fluid level

(Not applicable in case of maintenance-free batteries)

" Unscrew caps (Fig. 3-44:).

" If checking inserts are provided, the battery acid must reach up to their bottom.

After withdrawing the key from the key-switch (control panel in driver's cab), the electrical lines from the key-switch to the consumers are deenergized. The lines from the battery to the keyswitch are, however, still under tension. These lines can be de-energized with the battery main switch. Shut off the electrical system with the battery main switch when carrying out repair work or during prolonged downtimes of the excavator.

Battery main switch (Fig. 3-43:):

Position I - ON

Position II - OFF

In position II, the battery main switch handle can be withdrawn.

" If no checking inserts are provided, insert a clean wooden rod into the battery until it contacts the upper edge of the cell plates. The rod must be moistened over at least 10 mm.

" If the fluid level is too low, top up with distilled water only
