OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 6015 / RH40E Inspection and servicing

The drain valve for coolant is accessible under the engine compartment (arrow, Fig. 3-23:).

 Drain off the coolant with the drain hose attached to the drain valve. (arrow, Fig. 3-23:). The use of the cooling liquid draining hose is described in the " Hose line for oil and cooling liquid changes " chapter.

 Remove the drain hose from the valve after the oil / coolant has drained off; the valve closes automatically.

 Fill the required amount of cooling agent CAT ELC, Bucyrus HEX P/N 2482777, which is specially adapted to these engines, into the system by pouring it into the expansion reservoir (2, Fig. 3-21:). (see: "Refilling quantitiesOther" table.).

 Check the filling level at indidicator (3, Fig. 3-22:).

 After topping up with coolant run the engine for a short time to remove air inclusions before filling the system with coolant up to the mark on indicator (3).

For more information see also: "Operating and servicing instructions for the engine".

Testing the cooling liquid composition

The „Engine operating instructions“ contain a detailed description of how to prepare and test the cooling liquid composition. In case of imminent frost check that the factory-adjusted anti-freeze concentration is sufficient for the expected temperatures. Check the cooling liquid in the cooling system regularly to ensure that the mixture is sufficiently concentrated to prevent corrosion under the corresponding operating conditions.

AIR-INTAKE SYSTEM

Risk of injury when falling down. Put on your fall protection equipment before entering the superstructure.

Risk of injury caused by hot parts of the engine exhaust system. Let exhaust cool down.

Read and observe the "Engine - Safety instructions" chapter.

Do not start the engine when parts of the air-intake system have been detached.

Engine damage may occur if the engine is allowed to draw in unfiltered air.

Secure the machine as described in the "Securing the machine" section.

The air-intake system is equipped with two dry-air filters (Fig. 3-24:) consisting of prefilter, main and safety filter element.

Dust trap, cleaning

The dust trap (arrow, Fig. 3-25:) collects dust and dirt that infiltrates the air filter housing.

 To remove dust and dirt, squeeze the flexible part of the dust trap several times. ust and dirt will be detached and come off.
