Inspection and servicing

Electric Motor

Electric motor - Safety instructions

Read and observe: "Inspection and Servicing – Safety Instructions" and the electric motor operating instructions.

" Switch off electric motor.

" Turn rotary-switch (4, Fig. 3-14:) to lock and secure in this position with a snap.

Cleaning the electric motor

Clean the electric motor with compressed air only.

It is not permissible to clean the electric motor or any live excavator components with a steam cleaner and steam jet

" Remove snap from rotary-switch and turn switch (4) to unlock.

Secure the machine as described in the "Securing the machine" section.

Protect the skin from potentially harmful contact with engine oil. Wear protective gloves and firm working clothing.

Inspection and servicing

Greasing the electric motor

Grease the bearings at regular intervals while the electric motor is running.

Drive end

" Unscrew brass plug (arrow, Fig. 3-15:).

" Add new grease through nipple (1) until new grease emerges from bearing housing.).

" Wipe old grease away from the housing.

Fan end

" Remove screws from grease relief plunger (2, Fig. 3-16:).

" Pull out plunger (2) completely. This is necessary for removal of all old grease

" Wipe off old grease and replace plunger (2) fully.

" Add the same quantity of new grease through the nipple (1) as was removed by the plunger.

" Pull out plunger (2) again and remove old grease. Repeat this operation until new grease emerges on plunger (2).

" Put plunger in place again (2) and screw in securely.

Further information on the described servicing work on the electric motor is given in the operating instructions issued by the motor manufacturer.

Any other servicing work beyond that outlined above is carried out by the Terex|O&K After-Sales Service or by the motor manufacturer's agent.
