–Unclip wire guide -1- upwards -arrows-, and push it slightly to one side.

–Support engine in its installation position ⇒ page 39

–Unscrew bolts -2-. Then unscrew bolts -arrows-, and remove gearbox mounting -1-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

♦ Renewboltsthataretightenedwithturningfurtherangle.

♦ Gearboxsupportandsupportarmofgearboxmountingmust beperfectlyparalleltoeachotherbeforescrewinginbolts.If necessary,liftgearboxatrearusingtrolleyjack.

–Tighten gearbox mounting on longitudinal member.

– Lift gearbox with spindle of support bracket until gearbox sup‐port makes contact with support arm of gearbox mounting.

– Startboltsbyhand.Ensuretonotscrewintheboltsatanangle while doing so.

–Checking adjustment of assembly mountings ⇒ page 53

– When the bolts are tightened to specified torque, remove sup‐port bracket - 10 - 222 A- from engine.

–Remove foam elements -arrows- on left and right for plenum chamber seal.

– On both sides of vehicle, insert adapters - 10 - 222 A /29- be‐tween wing and sheet metal for mounting wing underneath it.

Installation position:

♦ Adapter “L” = -1- is inserted on “right” of vehicle.

♦ Adapter “R” (not seen here) is inserted on “left” of vehicle.

♦ Arrow -2- always points in direction of travel.

–Push 2 × swivel joints - T40091/3- onto support bracket10-222 A- .

–Secure support bracket - 10-222 A- to adapters - 10 - 222 A / 29- .

– Unscrewbolts-arrows-forlockcarrierbracketonleftandright.

–Unscrew lower supports from adapters - 10 - 222 A /28- and replace them with adapters -10-222 A /28-2- .

–Unscrew bolts -arrows- for securing support bracket to lock carrier from adapter - 10-222 A /28-2- .

–Bolt adapter - 10-222 A /28-2- to lock carrier using securing bolt -1-. Specified torque: 8 Nm.

–Set-up square tubes - T40091/1- with one spindle each as shown.

–Engage spindles in support eyes of engine. Use shackle - 10 - 222 A /12- if necessary.

–Take up weight of engine/gearbox assembly using spindles .
