8TH ANNUAL SALE
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH 2025
Bulls will be yarded by 10am on sale day for your viewing; however prior inspections of our cattle are welcomed at any time by contacting the vendors or selling agents.
• Mobile phone service is very good at the sale complex so please contact either the vendors or selling agents if you require someone to bid on your behalf at the sale.
• All bulls will be scanned prior to sale day by David Reid for Eye Muscle Area, Rib and Rump Fat and Marbling (IMF%).
• Bulls will also have undergone and passed a Bull Breeding and Soundness Evaluation (BBSE) adhering to standards of the Australian Veterinary Association by Ced Wise AB Services. All bulls have also undergone a morphology assessment by Rocky Repro.
• All bull weights, scan data and scrotal measurements will be provided on sale day. Individual BBSE Certificates are available upon request.
• A 4% rebate is offered to outside agents who introduce approved buyers to the selling agent at least 24 hours prior to sale day, and settle within 10 days. The introducing agent must also attend the sale either with their client or on behalf of them.
• Stocklive Elite will be operating on sale day as an alternative bidding option for registered users. We recommend registering at least 24 hours prior to the sale. Instructions for registering can be found on page 9 or by their website www.stocklive.com.au Complimentary lunch and refreshments will be provided on sale day. We hope you can also join us following the sale for on-going hospitality.
Whilst our focus on selecting for temperament/quiet cattle is paramount, please realise that sale day places unusual stresses on sale bulls, and that they may act out of nature.
• A 2% rebate is offered to outside agents who introduce clients 24 hours prior to sale day but do not attend the sale, and settle within 10 days. All buyers are required to register before the start of the sale. All bulls sold will be exclusive of GST.
If you choose to enter the sale pens, please be mindful of your safety at all times, and realise you are doing so at your own risk. We ask that any persons under the age of 16, or those that have mobility problems, do not enter the pens on sale day.
The owners and representatives of Elite Cattle Co. accept no liability for any accidents that may occur at ‘Murwollock’ on Sale Day.
We offer free delivery within a 300km radius of Meandarra to your property and to other major centres in QLD and NSW.
Please contact us for details as we would like to personally deliver as many bulls as possible. Bulls will be available for collection on sale day. Any bulls awaiting delivery will be held free of charge.
All bulls are at the buyer’s risk from the fall of the hammer, so we strongly recommend insuring all purchases. A GDL representative will be available on sale day to assist with this.
All bulls have been vaccinated with 7-in1, Botulism, Vibrio and 3-day sickness with a booster due in July 2025. They have also been vaccinated with 3-Germ Blood and tested Negative for Pestivirus.
All bulls have had a full GGP100K genetic profile completed which includes parent verification, polled and colour status.
In regards to Polled/Horn Status, all bulls catalogued are either Homozygous Polled or Heterozygous Polled. The term Homozygous Polled indicates that the animal carries two copies of the polled gene and should only produce polled progeny (even if the cow they are mated to is horned). The term Heterozygous Polled indicates that the animal only has one copy of the polled gene and can either produce polled or horned progeny (outcome dependant
on the genetic makeup of the cow).
Results of all Polled Testing have been provided either in the catalogue or on the supplementary sheet which will be released just prior to the sale.
In regards to coat colour testing, two possible results have been identified in our bulls. These are Homozygous Black or Heterozygous Black. A thorough explanation of how this trait is expressed/ passed onto progeny is described on page 13 of the catalogue. Again, these results have been provided in either the catalogue or on the supplementary sheet released just prior to sale day.
Please note that we take no responsibility for any inaccuracy that may occur with any of the test results.
Semen will be collected prior to sale from a select number of bulls with no further call on these bulls, unless a mutual agreement is made between the vendor and the purchaser.
If there is ever a problem with any of the sale cattle, we would appreciate being the first to know!
All of the sale bulls are fully guaranteed. In the event that a bull is found to be infertile or incapable of natural service, (which has not occurred due to disease or injury), following the fall of the hammer, we will offer a replacement bull or a credit will be given for the following sale, less the salvage value of the animal. This guarantee does not include interest, expenses, costs or damages.
Any claims should be made in writing within 6 months, and accompanied by a veterinary certificate.
to the 8th Edition of our Annual Bull Sale Catalogue; where we’d like to start off by thanking everyone who has been of great support to us over the last year.
To our wonderful clients who, without you, we wouldn’t be able to ‘do what we do’, those doing on-farm doing odd jobs when we’re away, the contingent that blows in for a day here and there and puts a smile on our face every time (ET technicians, scanning, freeze branding, semen testing, videoing and anyone that helps out in the lead up to the bull sale-just to name a few!), our ‘show crew’- some of the best times are had here, anyone who contributes to our publicity/promotion (in particular, the wonderful ladies at Hewitt Consulting Co who have taken over our graphic design work for this year) and above all else, to those that have looked after our three boys at various times to ensure that we are able to get a few jobs done (with a 3 year old & 1 year old twins, this has undoubtedly been one of the toughest jobs of them all this year, haha!)- So to you all, we say ‘Thank You!’
Our 2024 Annual Sale yielded a result well beyond our expectations- it was certainly a group of bulls that we were extremely proud of, but to end the bull sale season coming away with the 9th Most Successful Bull Sale in Australia (by average/head), was something that we will cherish and remember forever- both because of our own accomplishment and more importantly, because of the recognition that the Black Simmental cattle are now gaining in Australia.
The year that followed saw us undertake extensive Embryo Transfer Programs, capitalising on both our own donors and several overseas females that were purchased over the last few years to add some new genetics and cow families, as well as utilising some new AI sires.
April of this year saw us attend the Sydney Royal Easter Show once again, where we were elated to come away with some fantastic results; Junior Champion Female with Elite Sugar Crush U157 (who has maternal brothers selling at Lot 2 and 4), Senior and Grand Champion Female with Elite Black Wendy T165 (sired by Woonallee Missile Q476 who has several sons in the sale) and Junior/Grand and Supreme Simmental Exhibit with Elite Uproar U199, who followed in his sire’s footsteps (Elite Quittin’ Time) and sells as Lot 1 in this year’s sale. Winner of the Breeder’s Group and Most Successful Simmental Exhibitor then topped off a great day in the Simmental Ring.
Interbreed Day was a moment in time we’ll remember forever with Elite Uproar claiming the prestigious Urquhart Trophy (Supreme Beef Exhibit of the Show) making him the FIRST Simmental to EVER win this award since its inception!
Elite Black Wendy T165 also stood in the final lineup for Best Female Exhibit of the Show and then teamed with Elite Uproar to also final in the Horden Trophy (Supreme Breed Pair of the Show).
As always, the main aim with our Black Simmental Program is to provide our clients with phenotypically attractive bulls comprising of all the traits expected from ‘Modern European Cattle’ (a blend of adequate muscling & softness, bone, a strong sirey head, good foot-shape/structure, adequate hair type/skin, reproductive soundness and the ability to the cover ground correctly).
Blessed with a fantastic season this year, our sale bulls enjoyed an extended paddock preparation before starting their silage ration in June.
Please note when looking through this catalogue, and our bulls, that we are offering a slightly younger group of bulls as a result of a tougher season and extended joining period over the time they were conceived. Nevertheless, we definitely believe that we are still putting forward an extremely high quality cohort but that ‘the best may be yet to come’ with many of these sires. The bulls are a mixed group of both natural and embryo calves with the main walking sires consisting of Elite Quittin’ Time, Woonalle Missile, Yerwal Estate State of War and Elite Platinum. The majority of the new AI sired bulls for this year include St Pauls Revenue R417 and RF Caliber 014G.
As always, we are also offering a small group of Sim-Angus Sires for those wanting to capitalise on a splash of Euro content but to a slightly lesser extent than the purebred bulls. It is noted in the catalogue comments as to which bulls these are.
We are excited once again to have Bill & Susan Cornell from St. Pauls Genetics be a part of the sale this year with a great draft of yearling bulls. They were handpicked by Bill and Glen at the start of the year and arrived in Meandarra at the start of February when they were then prepared under the same conditions as the Elite draft. As always, we love offering the St Pauls bulls due to their addition of some new genetics to our sale cohort, as well as a great blend of desirable phenotypic attributes and their fantastic sets of EPDs. Noteable sires within the group this year include: Gibbs 9114G Essential, TG Gold 2743, St Pauls Qatar Q410, TNT Tanker U263 and RF Caliber 014G.
With all that being said, we hope you enjoy looking through the catalogue and welcome any inspections of the bulls at any point leading up to the sale.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone on ‘The First Thursday in September’.

My cattle passion started in 1968 when my parents gave me a commercial cross bred heifer. My cattle consultancy journey has been thoroughly educational involving over fifty overseas adventures to all parts of the world to view and select cattle. A landmark moment was in the mid 90’s with a visit to the Clay Research Centre in Nebraska, the message was to crossbreed, and the complementarity crossbreed cow will produce 25-30% more lifetime production to the purebred!
Dr Harlan Ritchie of Michigan State University had in 1982 told me that the SimmAngus cow was the best performing cow from his studies. With this understanding I headed to the folk at American Simmental. They had IGS the global multi-breed performance program with profit-based indexes.
In 1997 I brought GW Mick 838 Black Simmental semen to Australia. Soon after we started breeding our Angus to Simmental and in 2002, we brought Black Simmental embryos to Australia. Ever since our family have bred and utilised Black Simmental. We started selling Black Simmental bulls in 2005.
The IGS performance program assists the cattle industry to compare cattle on a global multi-breed data base of over twenty-two million head. The induction of IGS to Australian Simmental allows us all to use science to create more profitable cattle in a structured program . At St Paul’s our passion is to multiply superior genetics and share these genetics with the industry. We enjoy collaboration with parts of the industry especially other breeders in marketing and distributing genetics. Being an appreciative invited guest of the Elite Sale is part of this. We also support junior members with
gifting them the possession in their pick heifer from our herd.
Having served on the Simmental Federal Board and in roles of Chair of Youth and a member of the technical committee it allowed me to contribute to the breed and to IGS, its members and especially youth.
The St Paul’s herd has enjoyed success over the journey, with high selling cattle and genetics; show success with bulls, females, and steers; cattle with high balanced performance, docility, and doability.
Our plan is to breed the best Black Simmentals that we can. Factors of Performance in IGS EPDS and Indexes; good looking phenotype, solid structure, overall fertility, longevity, and docility are what we select.
Earlier in 2023, Simmental Australia made the decision to make the move from the Breedplan Recording System to IGS (International Genetic Solutions), the world’s largest animal performance recording system.
One of the major changes between Breedplan and IGS is that the breeding figures are reported as Estimated Progeny Differences (EPD’s) rather than Estimated Breeding Values (EBV’s). The difference between the two is simple. Effectively, an EBV is an animal’s OWN genetic value for a particular trait. However, an individual animal can only pass half of this EBV data onto their progeny. EPDs on the other hand, already have this ‘half’ accounted for. That is to say, an EPD is a forecast of
the genetic merit of an animal’s PROGENY.
IGS can also incorporate an animal’s genomics into its performance data. All animals in this year’s Elite Cattle Co Bull Sale have been 100K GGPLD DNA profiled, ensuring that their data is as up-to-date as possible for you.
Please note, in this early stage of the transition to IGS, some of our accuracies are seen to be quite low, so please be aware that not all data this year is going to be as relevant as in years to come.
Please feel free to ask us any questions that you may have about the IGS data recording system!
Sale bull EPD information was extracted from the IGS database on the 9/7/25. Note: Figures are updated weekly.

A real sale feature here to kick off our 2025 Sale and we believe, one of the best bulls that we have ever bred. The only reason Uproar hasn’t been retained is that we still use his sire extensively, and his dam’s side has also already had a tremendous widespread influence in our herd. Uproar is a true stud sire prospect due to his tremendous balance, outstanding carcass, added capacity, loose hide, beautiful skin/hair type and extra bone. He’s really hard not to admire; he pulls up beautifully and square every time.
He’s a bull that has had a very successful show career with the highlight being when he was crowned Junior and Grand Champion Bull followed by Supreme Simmental Exhibit at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show, at just 16 months of age. He followed this by then winning the prestigious Urquhart Trophy (Supreme Beef Exhibit of the Show), making him the first ever Simmental to win this award since its inception!

His dam, Elite Flirtin’ For Diamonds N113 was also a show quality female winning a Champion Ribbon at Sydney Royal Easter Show and has also produced Elite Scorcher, a high selling bull that sold in 2022 for $34,000 to Ticoba Simmental and Simbrahs. N113 is also the dam of R123, who produced Lot 1 from last year’s sale (, who sold for $28,000 to HC Rural). R123 also has a son selling at Lot 34 in this year’s sale. Elite Tsistipas a very successful sire for us (and Sale Topper in 2021 selling to M & L Cole), also stems from the same Diamonds Cow Family.
Uproar’s Sire, Elite Quittin’ Time, was a champion in himself, also winning Grand Champion Bull and Supreme Simmental Exhibit at Sydney Royal Easter Show (at the 2022 Simmental Feature Show). He is the only bull bred by us that we’ve ever retained and is still one of our most popular sires in use.

(3) Claims under Clauses 17(1) and 17(2). A claim that an animal has failed to satisfy a guarantee of fertility under Clause 17(1) or 17(2) must be made to the Vendor within the relevant guarantee period but prior to the animal entering a quarantine area other than on the Vendor’s property.
(a) All claims must be accompanied by a certificate from a registered veterinarian surgeon in accordance with the guidelines established by the Australian Association of Cattle Veterinarians which must clearly identify the basis of the claim.
(b) Subject to Clause 17(9), infertility resulting from injury or disease occurring after the sale of the animal is not covered by this guarantee. (c) The Vendor retains the right to have the animal placed on a property nominated by him or returned to his own property for further assessment of fertility for a period not exceeding six months. If the animal proves fertile within the period such status must be confirmed by a certificate issued by a registered veterinary surgeon in accordance with the guideline established by the Australian Association of Cattle Veterinarians and costs incurred must be borne by the Purchaser. If the animal is not proven fertile within the period, the costs incurred must be borne by the Vendor.

If an animal is alleged or proved not to be a breeder, the Purchaser must nevertheless pay the Auctioneer the full purchase price and any other monies or interest payable by the Purchaser in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
(8) EVIDENCE OF FERTILITY – A Certificate issued by a registered veterinary surgeon at or before the time of sale that an animal is fertile (unless it is a certificate stating in respect of a female that she is in calf at the time of sale) does not, of itself, satisfy or discharge the Vendor’s obligations under the guarantee of fertility given under this Clause 17. All animals, except calves at foot, must prove their fertility within the relevant guarantee period.
(9) RELIEF FROM GUARANTEE – If the Vendor seeks to be relieved from the obligations which would otherwise be imposed upon him by this clause by virtue of Clauses 17(3)(b) or 17(6)(a), the onus of proof is upon the Vendor to establish that: (a) The animal suffered the injury or disease or is in poor physical condition due to circumstances and events occurring after the sale, and

(b) If any Vendor brings to the sale premises any lot which is dangerous, or infected with any disease, that Vendor shall be liable for all injury, damages, costs, losses or expenses which the Auctioneer may sustain, incur or be put to either directly or indirectly as a result of the Vendor so doing. The Auctioneer reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to exclude from the sale, or put out of the sale venue or dispose of, any lot which in its opinion shows signs of any disease, whether infectious, contagious or not, or of any serious fault or of being dangerous.
19.
