Het Bos zet de deuren zes dagen lang open voor een pleiade aan de meest uiteenlopende expressievormen: visual art, food, fashion, music, performance, video, party en meer! Tijdens dit multidisciplinaire festival tonen meer dan 50 jonge Bosacademie-residenten nieuw werk.
Alle activiteiten zijn gratis te bezoeken. Voor de performances in de Theaterzaal kan je vanaf 16h00 op de dag zelf een gratis ticket ophalen aan het onthaal in Het Bos. Alle live activiteiten duren maximum 30 min.

Terwijl Het Bos dit jaar hun 10e verjaardag viert, blaast hun partner de Nationale Loterij 90 kaarsjes uit. Samen vormt dat een ongelofelijke 100 jaar van het bevorderen van creativiteit en innovatie in de Belgische cultuursector. Deze mijlpaal markeert niet alleen een decennium van artistieke vernieuwing en community building door Het Bos, maar ook bijna een eeuw van financiële steun en investering door de Nationale Loterij in talloze culturele en maatschappelijke projecten. Dit gezamenlijke jubileum benadrukt de voortdurende inzet van beide instellingen om jong, Belgisch en creatief talent een platform te bieden, hun talenten te ontwikkelen en de culturele diversiteit in ons land te vieren.
ECLIPSE
Mery D’Luto is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist who is debuting in the music field with her bilingual self-produced album ‘Eclipse’, “the path of the end and the beginning of a brand new phase”. In her first concert, she’s going to be interpreting some of her songs full of synths and electronics that remind us of Kate Bush, or genres such as DNB, that will make us reconnect with ourselves.
june&jill (BE/NL) are 2 girls from the sea, trying 2 eat. Born in the deep ocean, we swam up to get a good meal. What we were not prepared for were the many heartbreakers in human land that have made us cry gallons of sirentears. Startled by these humane feelings, we numb ourselves by eating spicy food which gives us new energy and zest for life. Let's do a lashlift, get some fillers and fix our nails. Hmm, now we got hungry again! june&jill are currently working on their debut album.

Ja maar is een collectief dat bestaat uit Louky van Eijkelenburg en Matthias Tuinstra, het werk dat ze maken zweeft een beetje tussen muziek en theater. De muziek moet goed zijn, maar de focus ligt vooral op de tekst en op hoe deze wordt gebracht. Al eerder maakten ze werk over de klimaatcrisis en over het verlangen naar verandering, dit keer is het thema rouw. Het optreden is eigenlijk een verwerkingsproces. Het poogt de hevige emoties die de dood met zich meebrengt te vangen in muziek en metaforen en zoekt naar antwoorden op de grote existentiële vragen.

Voor de residentie hebben ze een aantal Sombermannen bij elkaar verzameld, een groep ijzersterke muzikanten die meehelpt om het muzikale rouwproces een extra dimensie te geven.

GEVEL HET BOS
VROUWEN EN HONDEN
STOET is een driekoppig collectief met een wens theater te maken dat beweegt, binnen en buiten zalen, soms neerstrijkend op een plek, soms optrekkend door stad of dorp als parade. Al spelend onderzoeken en verdraaien ze algemeen aanvaarde sociale regels en normen. Theater is voor hen een laboratorium om zichzelf en wat hen omringt te dissecteren. In Het Bos onderzochten ze gedurende twee weken de thema’s van vrouwelijkheid, verwildering en (zelf-)domesticatie. Ze bekijken zichzelf in de spiegel, knijpen zich in de wang, keren zich de huid om, trekken een pels aan en laten zichzelf uit. Where do you want to go today?
Ade Bormans, Alice D'hondt en Suzanne Versele zijn drie maker-speler-bricoleurs die in 2023 samen afstudeerden in theaterregie aan het RITCS te Brussel. Met 'Vrouwen en honden' openen ze de deuren van hun onderzoek.
THE GARDEN
Emily van Overstraeten alias Elemy (illustrator/muzikant), Andrea Bos (textielontwerper) en Birthe Janssens (illustrator) sloegen tijdens deze residentie de handen in elkaar om Elemy’s debuutplaat “The garden” in een nieuw jasje te stoppen, zowel letterlijk als figuurlijk. Ze ontwierpen stoffen decors die bestaan uit abstracte organische vormen en bijhorende kostuums. Op deze vormen en kledingstukken werden met zijdeverf en drukinkt illustratieve elementen aangebracht. Ze vormen een fictieve tuin waarbij verschillende elementen uit de tuinen van dierbaren samenkomen tot een nieuwe dromerige, kinderlijke, maar soms ook vreemde wereld.
SUPERTAPE SOFT PVC HEAVY DUTY
Hanna Mensink, Robbe Embrechts, Roos De Buysscher en Winter De Cock maakten tijdens hun residentie in Het Bos Supertape Soft PVC Heavy Duty. Een beginnend onderzoek naar routine aan de hand van herhaling en geluid. Wat is het genot van een routine? Wat gebeurt er met een groep mensen als hun vaste routine plotseling wordt doorbroken?
HORMONAL FOOD WORKSHOP
Leo Ren O’faigain and Flo*Souad Benaddi’s project focuses on experimental hormonal cooking for queer people. They are working on cooking sessions bringing forward various topics around food and hormones. During the Vruchtbare Grond, they’re organizing a 2h workshop where you will experiment with recipes developed during their residency at Het Bos. This workshop will welcome between 6-8 people to cook vegan dishes and exchange feelings through taste and flavor combinations. The workshop is meant for people who recognise themselves as queer.
Hey you. The short film I will show at Vruchtbare Grond is not finished at the time I’m writing this, just so you know. I tried to make it subtle and beautiful but I gave up, now I’m just trying to make it as honest as possible. I’m trying to reflect that choice in this little description about this thing that doesn’t exist yet. I hope it works and I hope both of our expectations are set correctly. I’ll see you there?
LA LLORONA
Darwin Cabrera is een fotograaf, geboren in Ecuador, die door de jaren heen thema's rondom adolescentie heeft verkend in verschillende fotoreeksen. Langzaam heeft hij zijn eerste stappen richting het bewegend beeld gezet, wat nu resulteert in zijn eerste narratieve kortfilm La Llorona. In deze film verkent Darwin zijn eigen adolescentie en verweeft hij twee culturen tot een nieuwe, fictieve wereld. La Llorona is zowel een ode aan Antwerpen, de stad waarin hij opgroeide, als aan het magisch realisme en de folklore van Zuid-Amerika, waar hij zijn kindertijd doorbracht.
In La Llorona worstelt Viktor, het hoofdpersonage, met zijn verleden, wat zich weerspiegelt in de mythische figuur La Llorona die doorheen de film verschijnt. De film onderzoekt thema's als rouw, isolatie en identiteit, waarbij La Llorona als een symbolische verschijning Viktors innerlijke strijd vertegenwoordigt. Haar aanwezigheid kan zowel worden gezien als een bovennatuurlijke kracht als een psychologische manifestatie van zijn pijn en eenzaamheid. Door deze confrontatie met La Llorona vindt Viktor uiteindelijk een fragiele vrede, waarin hij leert de positieve en negatieve kanten van zichzelf te omarmen tijdens zijn overgang naar volwassenheid.

‘A celebration of the work in progress and the decline of it’ is a multi-morph performance, composition and installation that takes place in space rather than time. You are invited to a party where we won’t celebrate an achievement, but instead we celebrate the essence of life: movement! Here we celebrate the aimless quest, the never-ending story and the decline that lies in the delay of its execution.’

Tijdens Vruchtbare Grond breng ik voor jullie enkele zelfgeschreven nummers uit mijn verzameling HAAR. Het verbindende thema is het leren kennen van jezelf en omgaan met de perceptie van anderen, bekeken vanuit een eerder donkere invalshoek. Momenteel onderzoek ik ook de meerstemmige mogelijkheden van dwarsfluit, piccolo en basfluit en of ik deze instrumenten kan inzetten als volwaardige begeleidingsinstrumenten. Ik zal daarom mijn nummers zelf live begeleiden op dwarsfluit, basfluit, haardroger en live elektronica.

Leon Jespers is beeldend kunstenaar, grafisch vormgever en muzikant. In zijn praktijk drijft hij zowel de spot met zichzelf als met de hedendaagse samenleving en de populaire cultuurproductie die haar kenmerkt.
In het kader van zijn residentie project ‘Opgevoerd Afgevoerd’ richt Jespers 20 nieuwe bands op, waar hij steeds zelf in meespeelt, die na hun eerste concert in Het Bos voorgoed splitten. Na de concerten die reeds in juli en augustus plaatsvonden, organiseert hij tijdens het Vruchtbare Grond festival opnieuw een reeks concerten. Elke dag waarop het festival geopend is, vindt er een concert plaats: Burn (19/9 om 17h), Plan 2000 (20/9 om 22h30), Peter De Smedt (21/9 om 14h), What the Bootblack Saw (26/9 om 23h), Bolder (27/9 om 17h) en Jullie bedankt (28/9 om 17h).

Wat nou als het universum niet zou zijn ontstaan met een knal? Een Big Bang? Wat nou als ze zou zijn ontstaan uit een fluistering, en nog een en nog een en nog een? In ‘13,75 Miljard Fluisteringen’ word je meegenomen op een poëtische en muzikale reis langs de geluiden van het universum en de zachte klanken op Aarde die stil maar zeker een revolutie aankondigen.
Lennon Kors (26) is a Dutch performer and musician who recently graduated from Kleinkunst at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. Under the name of King Diana he will capture longing for connection in a concert that will make you feel free to be vulnerable, to dance, to cry. Inspired by miscommunication, sexscapades and ex-lovers Lennon will use electronics, voice and guitar to welcome you into King Diana's sad kingdom.

Mick is an actor and theatre maker living and working in Antwerp. During their residency they created MIDNIGHT MAMMAL, a solo (?) performance which is also a nocturnal meeting in the woods. Everything is okay now, have a snack, cry a bit.

Orphea Aerts is een beeldend kunstenaar met een fascinatie voor technologie en het hedendaagse kunstmilieu. Haar werk is speels en experimenteel, waarbij ze alledaagse elektronische apparaten transformeert tot bewegende sculpturen, installaties of tekenmachines.
Door deze transformaties ontneemt ze de oorspronkelijke functie van de apparaten, waardoor ze nutteloos worden en enkel nog in dienst staan van de kunst. Dit weerspiegelt haar overtuiging dat we te weinig dingen voor ons plezier doen en niet alles een doel hoeft te hebben.
Ze werkt vaak met huishoudelijke apparaten die elektrische energie omzetten in beweging, geluid of licht. Deze apparaten, hoewel simpel in uitvoering, worden door Orphea getransformeerd tot autonome kunstobjecten. Orphea werkt projectmatig en laat zich inspireren door de ruimte of context waarin haar werk geplaatst wordt. Ze geniet van de interactie tussen haar creaties, de omgeving en het publiek, waarbij ze voortdurend de grens opzoekt tussen het kunstwerk, de kunstenaar en de toeschouwer.
Daarnaast onderzoekt ze in haar werk de dunne scheidslijn tussen technologie als hulpmiddel en technologie als een integraal onderdeel van wie wij zijn.
Nastia Krasinskaia is a multidisciplinary artist coming from Russia. Her main sources of inspiration are found footage, found conversations, found routine. Despite the instability of the time, the constant element in her practice is a sense of sad irony. For the festival, Nastia Krasinskaia presents a series of works inspired by a two-headed pigeon, questioning whether its second head is the result of mutation or evolution.
ICE CREAM FANTASY
Do we need real ice cream to fulfill our desire for it? Elise tapped into the psychology of our eating habits to explore alternative ways of consumption. This work offers a range of cream experiences intended to evoke your carnal senses.
Wat zijn de mogelijkheden voor onconventionele woonvormen? In welke kleur zou je willen wonen? Het lijkt Hazel Ver Moesen en Jef De Coster fijn om in een sculptuur te wonen, maar hoe zou zo'n woning eruitzien?
Tijdens hun residentie bij Het Bos onderzochten ze vanuit hun eigen artistieke praktijk hoe een sculptuur kan veranderen in een architecturale vorm. Dit leidde tot een reeks sculpturen, het resultaat van een visueel onderzoek met tekeningen, kleurcombinaties en ontwerpen.
HARISSA FRIES
Moenia Ladhib is a multidisciplinary artist with a passion for exploring socially relevant and thought-provoking themes.
For Vruchtbare Grond, she’ll showcase Harissa Fries, an exploration of identity, belonging, and cultural fusion.
Inspired by the blend of her Tunisian and Belgian heritage, the installation tries to recreate the intimate and familiar setting of a kebab shop, in a very simple way - an environment where cultures and stories often intersect. The name itself reflects her own duality: the fiery kick of harissa, a staple of Tunisian cuisine, and the simple and humble Belgian comfort food - fries. This story explores the complexities of growing up between two worlds - what it means to navigate, embrace, and sometimes question the layers of a mixed identity.
MY LOVELY DOLLHOUSE
I’m Dana, a multi-disciplinary artist from Russia and I absolutely love storytelling in each of it’s possible forms. Writing, singing, dancing were always my first tools of a self-expression from my early childhood. Growing up in a repressed political regime made me forget how to tell my story for a while.
My lovely dollhouse is an installation made from tears, hard travels and Crimean sand. It intends to portray the difficulty of loving your “home” when in reality all you want is run away from it. My dollhouse, the one I wish I had received as a child to be prepared for the years to come.
We asked Kaat when is her favorite time of day to create:
"Whenever I get in a good flow. It could be at all times of the day, but most of the time the flow is really flowing during the night. Once everyone has left and it’s dark and quiet around. I get really energetic while everyone else is sleeping, however it does make me realise how important a good sleep schedule is and how horrible mine can be."
Far, far, far away living in a world full of sweetness there are little colorful creatures who play all day long. They encourage you to step into their imaginative playground to escape reality just for a few minutes or so.
As a kid I sometimes ran away from reality by imagining different worlds that I’d rather live in. I asked myself while working on this piece “Can you find happiness in the things you don’t see?”. My imagination has saved me countless times in the past and I might not be a kid anymore but that shouldn’t close the gates to these wonderful little worlds.

Gill Decuypere's latest project invites you to explore the boundaries of creativity and AI collaboration. An AI-based version of Gill’s creative agency will generate posters live in response to audience input, challenging traditional notions of artistic authorship. Through this interactive installation, questions about the ethics of AI, the nature of creativity, and the future of human-machine relationships are brought to the forefront. What does it mean for an artist to share their creative agency with a machine?
DE WIJNFONTIJN
‘De Wijnfontijn’ is een interactieve installatie die is ontstaan vanuit het idee om mensen samen te brengen en samen een leuk moment te delen. Het werk bestaat uit een basisstructuur dat betegeld is met gebroken wijnflessen. Elke fles staat symbool voor een specifieke herinnering aan een gezellige avond van ons of van vrienden. In het bassin staan een tiental keramieken glazen die langzaam gevuld worden door wijnflessen die erboven hangen. Het werk daagt bezoekers uit om geduldig te wachten terwijl de glazen zich vullen.
Wij zijn “TIBSIE”, een kunstcollectief bestaande uit vier beeldende kunstenaars die elk hun eigen stijl integreren in een gezamenlijk kunstwerk. Spontaniteit en plezierige momenten vormen vaak de oorsprong van onze inspiratie.
My residency started with a sudden interest in amphorae.
I love ceramics and I try to communicate what’s important to me through my work. Written in French, softened by pink ribbons, these are ways I try to uncover how I can show that women are not objects but subjects of knowledge which have been overlooked for too long.
GODVERDOMME
Sam Beddegenoodts is a 22-year-old costume designer and visual artist. She looks for ways of reconnecting with faith through costume sculptures. With her background in costume design, connecting and interacting with the audience is a big part of Sam’s work. Using a wide array of materials, she always brings it back to her main character: the body. The playful chaos she creates is influenced by the wave the artist feels while creating. She works with the motto: “More is more, and more is better,” following wherever it wants to flow. Sam’s personal work outside the theater is strongly influenced by her place of birth, Scherpenheuvel, a place of pilgrimage. She finds inspiration in the “towniness” and its people.
For Godverdomme, she was inspired by the images of women on novena candles (worship candles). Feeling disconnected and unrepresented by the imagery, she searches for new ideals. By creating a new saint, she gives insight into what she believes is worth putting on a candle. Displaying an alternate reality, she reflects on the portrayal and makability of women.
GEKADERDE DIEPTES
Gekaderde Dieptes bestaat uit twee delen die de menselijke drang onderzoeken om grip te krijgen op de toekomst en de leegte. Het eerste deel maakt gebruik van opbergdoosjes om te tonen hoe mensen door ordening en taal – via hokjes en definities –proberen controle te krijgen over het onbekende. Het tweede deel bestaat uit verscheidene multimediaal gemaakte prints, gedrukt op gevonden en reeds gebruikt papier, met kaders die door de tijd over elkaar zijn geprint. Deze lagen creëren een diepte die, in plaats van duidelijkheid te bieden, juist meer onzekerheid schept. Hoewel de werken niet gelijktijdig op ooghoogte zichtbaar zijn, bewegen ze synchroon, wat een visuele spanning veroorzaakt. Deze synchroniciteit benadrukt de spanning tussen onze behoefte aan structuur en de onvermijdelijke openheid van de toekomst.

T(HR)O(UGH) CENTER*
*journey t(hr)o(ugh) center* is a space that extends an invitation to interact or communicate with the *invisible* in whatever way shape or form one may feel called to. It is an installation that traces a defined and walkable path but leaves its direction open to intuitive suggestion, inviting anyone who walks it to connect to their inherent agency. In a way, the walked path becomes a step on the grander path that is life.

Graphic and visual designer Salah Van Puymbroeck (2000) studeerde Visual Design aan het LUCA te Gent. Salah benut ten volle zijn tijdperk en de nieuwste media. Dit maakt zijn werk eigentijds en raak. Hij speelt online & offline met zowel vergane internet glorie als futuristische (game) elementen, waardoor zijn werk constant in beweging lijkt te zijn. Uit zijn speelse digitale animaties haalt hij hoogstaande stills die volledig op zichzelf staan.
Vertrokken vanuit de dood van bisschop Heahmund uit de niet fictieve plaats Sherborne in de serie Vikings, ontstond er een fascinatie voor Engeland. Toevallig gingen we naar Engeland. Onze passie lift mee. Eenmaal gearriveerd lieten we deze passie die altijd mee komt z’n gang gaan.
Reizend door landschappen en steden als Rye, Hastings, Winchelsea Beach en Londen, proberen we op onze wijze waargenomen beelden om te zetten in geabstraheerde versies van onze verbeelding.
