GET DRESSED FOR TRI SUCCESS
coming home from training at midnight and then getting up for school the next day,” Monique said. While balancing school and training Braydoch has also been working parttime to save enough money to attend the competition.
“This is a unique sport and requires hours of dedication and training. They have both put years into becoming incredibly versatile, strong athletes and this is shown by their acceptance into Australia's International Level 4 squad,” Kelly said.
The RSL grant has got both boys dream to compete in Hawaii across the line.
AN outrageously fun triathlon catering for all levels of fitness will be held this year to help raise funds for the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre’s Youth Mentoring Program.
While the RSL Community Grants Committee won't be dusting off their joggers or donning their swimsuits, they are proud to support the April 23 event with a $2500 community grant.
After a four-year hiatus the Col Pearce Corporate Triathlon will be held in spectacular fashion with costumes, fun and frivolity assured.
The Tri was originally started in 2011 in honour of Hervey Bay Tri-Club Patron and community stalwart Col Pearce who sadly passed away from cancer.
The event raised over $45,000 for cancer research and funds for various other charities during that time.
Hervey Bay Tri-Club President Paul Smith thanked the Hervey Bay RSL for their generous support and said the club looks forward to working jointly with the HBNC to support the region's youth.
“Having benefited various charities in the six years the event ran previously, helping the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre take on this event to fund critical Youth Mentoring initiatives is something the club is energised about,” Paul said.

Youth Mentoring has been delivering support to young people experiencing difficulties at school for over 15 years.
The program provides one-on-one mentoring for young people aged 7 -17 years in partnership with local schools to support them once a week and targets students experiencing difficulties at school to provide extra support and prevent youth disengagement with school and community.
Many of the students with the Youth Mentoring program are referred due to issues they are experiencing at home, mental health, and behavioural issues.
If you or your business would like to support this very worthy cause, then head down to the Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club on the Esplanade to take part in a 300m swim, 10km ride and a 3km run.
Nominate yourself or dob in a team of three. Costumes add to the fun but they're optional and purely your choice.
Every team stands a chance to win, with the champion team finishing closest to their nominated time.
“This grant has gone an extremely long way in relieving some financial stress that this international competition places on us as parents,” Kelly said. “Receiving this grant has given Braydoch and Denman an opportunity that few people have.”
While only one team can walk away as the overall Grand Champions, there will also be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes at every level.
We can't wait to see these boys achieve their goals and wish both the boys and their team the best of luck!
