PITCH FOR PRESIDENT'S TEAM
THERE’S no rest for the wicket as far as young Caelan Barr is concerned.
The talented Hervey Bay cricket player was selected to play in the U14s Wide Bay Cricket Team, that competed at the Queensland Junior Cricket Southern Championships on the Gold Coast recently.

A $250 Hervey Bay RSL grant helped to cover some of the entry costs to the prestigious competition where Caelan's performance was outstanding.
Marie used the proceeds from her mum Myriam's estate to ensure her wishes were honoured.
The aptly named cottage has since been home to 77 women who have found safety in the short, medium and long-term accommodation.
The Hervey Bay RSL Community Grants Program has assisted the notfor-profit organisation in the past with buying a new washing machine, removal of a tree, security screens for the doors and an office printer.

The cottage received further assistance recently with a $3380 grant to replace tired and worn window shutters.
“Thanks to the RSL grant we now have three rooms sheltered from the afternoon sun since the installation of the shutters,” Marie said.
“The ladies in our care are so happy and very grateful.”
Marie said most of the residents are referred to the cottage from Mental Health Unit Outpatients, Head Space, Domestic Violence, Social Workers, Case managers, and community members, with the women all homeless for reasons beyond their control.
The cottage is run by volunteers who help guests gain valuable life skills through cooking and cleaning classes, therapy, budgeting, self-esteem building exercises, and supporting them to find employment.

Not only did the Under 14 Colts Captain take 7 for 17 for the Wide Bay side, at the end of the carnival he was also selected to play in the QJC President's XI merit team.
Caelan's proud mum Melissa said he contributed with both bat and ball in all five games.
“He finished the week with a top score of 58 against Sunshine Coast and best bowling figures of 7/17 against Darling Downs and Southwest Queensland Cricket Inc (DDSWQ).
“Caelan was playing against the best players in his age group from Southern Queensland and we're very proud of his achievements.
“Thank you to the RSL for your support.”
