CLUBHOUSE

With the vaccination mandates now lifted, it's wonderful to be able to welcome back members of the community who were unable to come to the club during this period. The lifting of restrictions also means that many of our popular entertainers are back on stage and many of the regular raffles and promotions are now back to normal. It was also heart-warming to see the community turn out in the thousands for this year's Anzac Day services. The main march was very well attended with people lining Main St to catch a glimpse of the veterans, service personal, school students and many local cadets marching to the Pialba cenotaph for the Main Service. It has been two years since the full march was able to go ahead so it was great to see. Your club hosted the Veterans for breakfast and lunch with over 440 and 550 attending those events respectively. All our venues have been a hive of activity during the succession of long weekends and school holidays, with plenty of patrons getting into the spirit of St Patrick's Day, Easter, and Mother's Day. The Easter and Mother's Day raffles were very popular. Congratulations to all the winners!

We would like to especially thank all our staff over this very busy period. The dedication shown over the Easter and Anzac Day period was great to see and appreciated by all management and the committee. There's plenty of fun, entertainment and special promotions coming up over the next few months so be sure to have a flick through the magazine and like our Facebook page to keep up to date with menu specials, discount fuel vouchers and shows and entertainment. Don't forget to get your $10 ticket into the draw for a brand-new MG ZS Excite car, plus the chance to win $1500 cash ($500, $400, $300,

The Hervey Bay RSL Community Grants program has also been steaming ahead with many local not-for-profit organisations, charities and individuals benefiting from over $580,000 already awarded in donations, sponsorship and in-kind support so far this financial year. Our club is committed to providing grant funding to those who need it most, which enables eligible community groups, charities, individuals, and sporting clubs to thrive. We recognise that these groups build a sense of community, provide opportunities for participation and inclusion, and foster a sense of wellbeing within the wider community. Of course, this is only made possible by your patronage at the Hervey Bay RSL. Turn to the Community Grant section from pages 11 to 15 to see how your support has enabled us to make a substantial difference to the grant recipients. Applications and guidelines for applying to the program can be found at herveybayrsl.com.au under the 'contact us' tab or contact Community Engagement Officer Kerrie Alexander on 4197 7466 or email community@herveybayrsl.com.au On a final note, don't forget it is membership renewal time and for the those who renew their membership before the draw on Friday, July 8 will receive one free ticket in the draw to win the MG ZS Excite. We look forward to seeing you at the Club!

OUT & ABOUT AT

YOUR CLUB The club has been a hopping hive of activity these past few months with lots of special celebrations including Easter, St Patrick’s Day, Anzac Day, and Mother’s Day.

Many patrons walked away with big smiles a er winning some amazing gi hampers, each themed to all the events. The kids Easter colouring-in compe on was especially popular.

Anzac Day saw many veterans and their families return to the club for the first time in many years for a 'normal' Gunfire Breakfast after the Dawn Service. Without any restrictions, guests enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast prepared by our talented chefs, and lots of chatting and catching up with old mates. For more photos see page 16.

We had a terrific early St Patrick's Day celebration to be sure! Thank you to all our members and guests who came along to enjoy traditional Irish band Slainte, a delicious Irish dinner, and of course a Guinness or two.

About 75 people took a trip back in time to for the Fraser Coast Fundraising Group's Roaring 20s Australia's Biggest Morning Tea recently. Guests were dressed in dazzling costumes which helped make the day a terrific success. All funds raised went to Cancer Council Queensland.

There was lots of love in the club on Mother's Day with a scrumptious buffet breakfast. For some lucky patrons, the day was made extra special by winning one of the super Mother's Day raffle hampers. Lachlan Wallace brought the magic of Sinatra, Elvis and more to an appreciative audience in Hervey House at the Morning Melodies Show recently

You're never too old to enjoy an Easter bunny basket! Just ask the lucky winners of our Easter raffle hampers that were filled with chocolates galore and lots of other sweet treats.

There's nothing like an Easter basket full of chocolate goodies to put a smile on some little people's faces! The winners were chosen out of lots of Easter colouring in competition entries. Well done, kids!

COMMUNITY GRANTS REFURB A NOVEL IDEA BOOKWORMS at the Hervey Bay Special School are in for literary feast this year with a much-needed refurbishment of their library on the horizon. The school provides highly specialised educational programs for students with moderate to profound intellectual and sensory abilities in Prep to Year 12. Business Manager Anita Eason said the refurbishment will further the school's commitment in supporting the individual needs of all students by providing better library facilities. “Whilst some of our students are not able to read in the traditional sense of turning pages of a book, it is our moral imperative to make sure that every student has access to a wide variety of reading materials to explore via the most appropriate modem to suit their ability,” Anita said. “All students, regardless of academic

ability, have the right to be able to explore literature and develop their literacy skills to their full potential. At Hervey Bay Special School every student is a reader and writer.”

shelves, an interactive touch panel and age and ability appropriate furniture.

The Hervey Bay RSL committee concur and have come on board to help this very special project by donating a $6500 community grant to assist in reaching the $16,000 required to make it happen.

If any businesses or individuals would like to help, the school would be extremely grateful.

The grant will cover the cost of all new books, both paper and audio, including home levelled readers and tactile sensory books.

“Some of our books are currently stored on shelving that is not fully accessible for students in wheelchairs,” Anita said.

The not-for-profit school hopes that future fundraising activities will cover the remaining $9500 to buy library

SPORTING A NEW LOOK FOR ANNUAL CHALLENGE

“Whilst in time we will be able to gradually fund our dream, it would make a massive difference to so many students and make an immediate impact on their learning goals if we could bring this to fruition earlier with the help of our community partners.”

PLAYERS at the Hervey Bay Memorial Dart Club’s 2022 Invitational Dart Challenge will stand out in the crowd by wearing their colourful custommade polo shirts with the RSL logo proudly displayed on each side.

The club, formerly known as the Sporties Social Dart Club, was successful in gaining a $4000 Hervey Bay RSL Community grant to offset the cost of buying 180 shirts for players and guests attending the competition in Hervey House from June 11-12.

The annual challenge attracts dart players to the region from Southport, Gympie, Tin Can Bay, Nanango, Redcliffe, Deception Bay and Scarborough, which is a great boost to local tourism with many players staying for an extended period.

COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM 2022 Supporting the community that supports us...

We strive to make unique and significant contributions and sponsorships to proudly support our local community. Last year the Hervey Bay RSL proudly donated over $504,411 to local organisations, groups & individuals. Community Grants are now open, if you know of an individual or community group that could benefit from our Community Grants program, you can find further details and our application form is now available online www.herveybayrsl.com.au/contact-us or contact Kerrie Alexander on 4197 7466.

COMMUNITY GRANTS (CONTINUED) AGE IS JUST A NUMBER CATHERINE Milijasevic has proven that age has no barriers when it comes to excelling in the sport that you love. The 66-year-old goalkeeper is the first senior Hervey Bay Hockey Association member to have been selected for the Hockey Australia's Women's Master's National Tournament. With the help of a $500 Hervey Bay RSL Community Grant, Catherine travelled to Newcastle's International Hockey Centre in March for the competition of a lifetime. “The RSL has been a fantastic support, offering assistance with my travel costs to the tournament,” Catherine said. Catherine has been a stalwart

The volunteers are not government funded so the Hervey Bay RSL has stepped in to alleviate some financial pressure by giving them $500 worth of Coles and Woolworths vouchers each month. The Hervey Bay RSL Community Grant will help Trish and Josie to continue providing a continental breakfast for about 40

The guests can fill their stomachs for the day with a choice of four types of cereal, fruit, fruit cups, boiled eggs, toast, milk, tea, coffee, sandwiches and more. They also receive a takeaway meal and a water bottle. This is just one of many ways these two wonderful women are making a difference in our community. of the association for over 20 years, contributing and supporting the development of the club in both senior and junior hockey and spending countless hours volunteering in the canteen. Now, it was her turn to be in the spotlight. Catherine was part of the Masters' team at the 2021 Hockey Queensland State Championships in Warwick last year and based on her performance, was selected to go on to play for the Over 65

Queensland team. Catherine said she was thrilled to be selected. “To be considered a good enough goalkeeper and selected in a Queensland state team at my age is an amazing achievement for me. “I love to play hockey … it's my way of keeping my age limitations in check; I never let age get in the way of my ambitions.” The action-packed sport requires a high level of fitness,

with Catherine doing preseason training twice a week, goal keeping training once a week and intense team fitness and hockey training sessions weekly during the competition season. “I have always played a Goalkeeper with our Hervey Bay masters team and the Hervey Bay ladies A Grade Magpies team. “I enjoy the challenges and intensity of actually playing on the field and in the goal box with my team.”

SAVING OF LIVES AT SEA THE Volunteers Marine Rescue Hervey Bay work behind the scenes in the radio room 365 days a year, 12 hours a day, and the highly skilled skippers and crew are faced with everything from simple activations to life and death scenarios. Also behind the scenes are the Admin and Events Teams busily keeping the organisation's business running and raising much needed funds. The squadron operates from its base at Urangan Boat Harbour, with an operational area inside Fraser Island from Stewart Island in the Great Sandy Strait to Long Shoal situated approximately 14 NM NNW of Sandy Cape and across to Theodolite Creek, just north of Woodgate. The volunteers were called out over 400 times in 2021 alone for rescues and medical evacuations. The Hervey Bay RSL recognised many years ago that the professional rescue service was invaluable to the Fraser Coast and supported the cause by donating $1500 a month from the Hervey Bay RSL Community Grants Program. With the rising cost of fuel, the committee will now extend that grant to $2000 a month, giving the service an extra $6,000 a year. The $24,000 grant will help cover the cost of fuel, activations, training, and the cost of

12

maintenance on the rescue vessels, including Rescue 1 – a new 12-metre, $1.4 million purpose-built rescue boat that was delivered to VMR in August last year. The total of fuel alone for all three vessels has been more than $50,000 for the first half of this financial year. Fraser Coast boaties can also help the service stay afloat by becoming a member for just $90 a year. The free service of logging on with Marine Rescue Hervey Bay through VHF radio or telephone provides peace of mind that VMR know where you are on the water. VMR will always render assistance to boaties whether they are members or not, but on-water membership can save money through two frees assists to a value of $500 per year if you break down or get in trouble. If you aren't a member and need help, a bill will be sent out to help cover the cost of the notfor-profit organisation's service. For more information about this vital service, follow them on Facebook or visit the website at www.marinerescueherveybay.org.au

GEM OF A GRANT There's over 100 members ranging from 10 to 85, of all abilities, who enjoy a diverse range of gem related activities like faceting, cabbing, silversmithing and lost wax casting. Members are happy to share their knowledge about different types of rocks and minerals and areas they can be found in, as well as jewellery making on the great range of equipment available. The not-for-profit organisation has been providing this community service in Hervey Bay since 1965, with their much-loved annual gem and mineral show being the club's major fundraiser of the year. The funds help cover the cost of things like tools and equipment, but it only goes so far.

The Hervey Bay Gem and Mineral Club offers something just a little bit different to Fraser Coast residents. “The new chairs will add a new, clean look to the club. All the old stools were worn and had rust and very hard to keep clean.”

So, when the club requested the help of a Hervey Bay RSL Community Grant to replace 12 office chairs, 12 gas lift stools and a new fridge, the club was only too happy to assist with a $3700 grant.

Lyn said the club strives for a sense of community, stopping each day for morning tea and a chat to offer a social setting for members of all ages and all walks of life.

President Lyn Best said this means that morning tea for the big number of members will be cold and the chairs will be safe for everyone, including older members and those with disabilities.

“I feel privileged to belong to a club that values inclusiveness. I love that we can nurture skills and knowledge for all members to their ability. “We have members as young as seven to the mature age of 85.

“Some of the chairs and stools being replaced are at least 10 years old,” Lyn said.

“We welcome people with disabilities and their carers. We are building on providing Arts Therapy for our Veterans. I believe going to the club aids mental health, albeit passively.

“With the continued use, some of the stools and chairs have fallen apart and become dangerous for members to use. “Given the age of some of our members, they haven't felt confident in using the chairs. Recently, one stool fell completely apart on an elderly member.

RICH HISTORY IN JAZZ A SELL-OUT crowd of 120 jazz fans witnessed history when the Hervey Bay Jazz Club hosted their first event in 2004. Since then, the club's monthly performances have only gained in popularity with iconic jazz bands like Galapagos Duck, The Kitty Kats and other well-known performers taking the stage. The club moved from another venue to the Hervey Bay RSL in 2015 and Hervey House has been home to their performances ever since. Robyn Brown, of Sassy Jazz fame, was the first of many performers to play to an appreciative audience at the RSL.

Jazz Club president Ann Hopwell said having the RSL on board as a major sponsor of the club had been instrumental in its growth and popularity.

The Hervey Bay Jazz Club now proudly presents a wide variety of jazz and blues music to the Fraser Coast on the last Friday of every month, except December.

“The RSL are very generous to the jazz club and without their support there could have been every chance of us not being able to continue as a club any longer.

“The club aims to provide jazz lovers with a variety of jazz styles by supporting local bands and musicians as well as visiting and touring groups,” Ann said.

COMMUNITY GRANTS (CONTINUED) BINGO CALLS FOR A CAUSE No one is ever prepared for tragedy to strike. That's why it's so important for the region to have the likes of local charity Rally for a Cause in our community's corner (RFAC). The charity has come to the aid of 140 local families and individuals affected by life-limiting medical conditions or who have had their lives turned upside down by sudden death or disability. The charities main fundraiser, the Dunga Derby car rally, has now raised just over $1.8 million since its inception in 2015, which has gone to these families in the form of financial assistance and much-needed equipment to aid injury or disability.

Bay RSL since 2013, with a crowd of about 180 eager players each time. The volunteer couple give their time freely at the RSL bingo each Wednesday solely to raise funds for local charities, including the Hervey Bay Special School and now RFAC. Adored RSL staff Donna and Sharon are also very familiar faces to all the bingo buffs. RFAC Recipient Liaison officer Genna Tyler said the committee was incredibly grateful to everyone involved for the generous donations, which will help the charity continue their great work in the community.

The Hervey Bay RSL has always been a major supporter of this fantastic charity and, for 2022, has stepped up these efforts by donating all funds raised from Wednesday's very popular bingo to RFAC.

“We were very excited and grateful that they (RSL) had chosen us,” Genna said.

Veteran bingo hosts Paul and Blanch Ninnes have been calling at the Hervey

“It will allow us to help more families on the Fraser Coast who are struggling

financially due to unforeseen lifelimiting medical conditions or tragic circumstances beyond their control.” The bingo is played in Hervey House every Wednesday, with eyes down from 10.30am, $24 a set.

“We couldn't help the families we do without the amazing support of the Fraser Coast community.

COMMON GROUND FOR LOCAL MEN WHEN you’re talking about a not-for-profit organisation with about 80 members, lots of fundraising activities, plus tools and equipment for everyday use, there is an absolute need for maintaining accounts and keeping records. The current computer system at Hervey Bay Men's Shed had failed them so a new laptop, printer and software was desperately needed.

workers, machine workers, and welders, and put their skills to good use at the shed.

The Hervey Bay RSL Community Grants committee was happy to support the organisation with a $1500 grant to go towards buying the new system.

President Leon Baldwin said the organisation plays an important role in the community by offering men of all ages a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment where members can work on meaningful and enjoyable hands-on projects at their own pace, while enjoying the company of others.

Not just by assisting with community projects but also tinkering with tools for their own mental health.

Treasurer Kees Pley said the new computers would be significantly faster and therefore would require less time for Men's Shed Office Bearers to keep accounts and administration up to date. “The RSL's Grant will greatly assist the Hervey Bay Men's Shed in achieving the objective of replacing the current computer system with a system that will help the organisation become more professional and accountable,” Mr Pley said. “Having modern and up to date

The Hervey Bay RSL will provide well over $50,000 in sponsorship this year, which is made up of funds from monthly support to Rally For A Cause along with proceeds from Wednesday’s bingo, entry of Car 40, and funds for the new the RFAC website. To find out more find Dunga Derby by Rally for a Cause on Facebook or visit rallyforacause.org.au.

Just a few of the community projects include making toys and playgrounds for local kindergartens, construct safety and rehab facilities for disabled residents, and repair furniture for community groups.

“The Men's Shed is important because it provides older men with an outlet where they can connect with other men and work on projects together,” Mr Baldwin said.

“Men's Shed members have a lot of skills obtained during their working lives and these skills are put to good use in assisting the community in cases where there is not a lot of money around to purchase these skills in the private sector.

“This goes a long way towards alleviating or avoiding some of the mental health issues that affect men.” Many of the members are retired tradesmen like carpenters, metal

“The Men's shed also runs regular garage sales to sell donated goods and products made by members. “The items are all sold at reduced prices so less well-off community members can afford them. “The proceeds contribute to the running costs of the Men's Shed and some funds are donated to charities and worthwhile causes each month.” Hervey Bay Men's Shed is located at 28 Aalborg Rd, Nikenbah. IN THE SKIES SAVING

LIVES

NURSES deal with life, death, and everything in between. But throw in aero medivacs from helicopters, missions to rescue orphaned children in Vietnam, treating wounded soldiers, among many other things, and you have one hell of a job that's “out of the box”. That's the exact reason registered nurse Rosslyn Richards joined the Royal Australian Airforce Nursing Service in the height of the Vietnam conflict in 1969. She even brushed off her fear of heights to serve. “I think the excitement of doing aero medical evacuations is what excited me and so I joined the Air Force. I wanted to think outside the box and that's what the Air Force gave me,” Rosslyn said. “I didn't want to work in a ward where it was the same, day in and day out, so then as a 21-year-old I went straight off night shift into recruiting. “It was a great way to see the world and get paid at the same time.” On completion of her Aviation Medicine and Aeromedical Evacuation training Rosslyn was posted to Fairbairn, ACT, then to Butterworth in Malaysia in 1970. She spent 5 to 6 months in Penang working in an outpatient clinic for families of military personnel before being assigned back to Butterworth at the RAAF Hospital. That is where she was first appointed to the Medivac roster, with fortnightly routine flights on board Hercules aircrafts, bound for Vung Tau in Vietnam to evacuate sick and injured troops.

another posting to Newcastle six months later.

The numbers that attended is hard to determine but Freedom Park was full to capacity, as was Main Street. On behalf of our local veterans and Sub-Branch, I would like to thank the residents of Hervey Bay for their support to the veteran community. I would also like to thank the RAAF for the flyover of the C17 Galaxy aircraft and the Hervey Bay RSL Memorial Club staff for their wonderful service at the Gunfire Breakfast.

That's where she met the love of her life Chris, an RAAF fighter pilot. The two were married within a year. Chris and Rosslyn were posted together in Malaysia in 1974 and Rosslyn, now a senior nurse, was the Sister in Charge of the women's and children's ward.

Rolyn Richar

It's here that Rosslyn experienced the most challenging mission of her career. In April 1975, former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam announced that Australia would take in 260 Vietnamese orphans, with the majority being born as a result of liaisons with American soldiers. The mission: OPERATION BABY LIFT. Immediately prior to the fall of Saigon, Rosslyn received a pre-dawn call from the hospital with instructions to bring her passport, overnight bag, and Australian currency to the airport. She didn't know where she was going or when she would be back. These were the words also left on a note for Chris who was away on a major mission at the time. Four registered nurses and four medical assistants, including Rosslyn, boarded a Hercules aircraft bound for Tun son Nuit Airport in Saigon. Their mission was to evacuate over 80 babies and children from the war-torn country. “We waited on the aircraft until the first buses carrying the children passed through the airport gates. We could hear gunfire in the distance.

Next, Rosslyn was posted to the RAAF hospital in Richmond, followed by

“We loaded 87 children on board, the youngest being two days old. “Five babies had been thrown through the bus windows as the buses drove through the streets of Saigon to the airport. The mothers were so desperate to get their babies out of the country. “They only had a luggage tag on their wrist with a contact in Australia.” |

The babies were placed in a mix of cardboard boxes and on litters (stretchers) and were strapped down with tie down straps for safety. As they took off to the safety of Bangkok, a US Galaxy aircraft

Anzac Day this year was the first one since 2019 that the service was restriction free. It was very well attended by both Veterans and the residents of Hervey Bay.

crashed right before their eyes. Over 200 people perished in the crash including babies, children and workers from Vietnam orphanages Initially thought to be sabotage, it was a malfunction in the cargo door that led to the plane's demise. The wives of Australian embassy staff and English-speaking staff from a private hospital assisted in looking after the children while on the ground in Bangkok. The children were awaiting their final journey to Australia. In 1976, Rosslyn went on maternity leave with their first daughter and in 1977 transferred to the Air force reserve in Canberra and Richmond for the next 12 years, combining her career and the welfare of her family, that now included two daughters. In 1991 she transferred back permanently to the Air Force and resumed her career fulltime for the next 10 years with postings as a senior nurse on base or in charge of all health services. “I thoroughly enjoyed my military career, and would I have had it any other way? No, I would not change a thing!” Now retired, Rosslyn is an active member of the Hervey Bay RSL SubBranch and - along with veteran Dutchy Lensing - shares their stories with local school children. A unanimous decision was also made by the Hervey Bay RSL & Services Memorial Club in 2018 to grant both Rosslyn and Chris Life Membership to the club. The accolade was awarded as a thank you for their dedication and commitment to volunteering on both the Sub-Branch and RSL committee in various positions, for more than a decade combined.

SAY ‘YES’ TO A

Clubhouse wedding

PLANNING a wedding can set even the calmest of people into a stressful spin.

There’s so much to think about like the date, the guestlist, the dress and lots of big decisions like who will make up your wedding party.

The team will also gladly set up any extra décor at your request including decorations, centre pieces and chair covers.

However, one decision that you absolutely should not underestimate is picking your wedding reception venue.

Set outside, but undercover, the layout of the reception area will give everyone plenty of room to move no matter the weather, as well as a spot for your chosen entertainer and plenty of space for guests to dance the night away.

It’s the basis for your big day, the backdrop where many of your wedding photographs will be taken and the place where memories of a lifetime will be created with your guests. So, how do you make sure that you get this important decision right? You entrust your big day to the wedding specialists at The Clubhouse Hervey Bay. If you choose the popular Fairways Room, Venue Manager James Bartosek said up to 140 guests will be amazed by the spectacular view of the 9th green on the Hervey Bay Golf Course – a unique country setting that can’t be replicated anywhere else on the Fraser Coast. The room hire includes advice from the dedicated team, linen, and a basic set-up, plus the opportunity to decorate your special day just the way you want it.

undoubtedly one of the most important elements of the whole event. No matter which style you pick, whether it’s a formal plated dinner or a cocktail-style reception, the menu should reflect the couple.

Feel the fresh cool breeze or if it’s a windy day, the double outside blinds can be pulled down to block the wind. “Before you start to panic, we’re here to help,” James said. “We understand that a wedding is one of the biggest days of a couple’s life, so we always work closely with the bride and groom to make sure their reception meets all their expectations. “The Fairways Room is a brilliant option because it can literally be transformed to suit the couple’s style … whether that’s hanging lights and decorations, decorating chairs, hiring a dance floor; the choice is theirs.” James said the choice of menu is also

The Clubhouse has an extensive menu to cater for every taste and budget starting with a cold buffet from just $24.50 per person, to a formal menu selection with a two-course sit down meal from $45 per person or a three-course for $65 per person. bit extra special, and our chefs take that very seriously. “The menus are designed to cater for various budgets and tastes and incorporate vegetarian and gluten-free options as well. “We also have an extensive beverage selection and most importantly, exceptional customer service. “We won’t let you down on your big day.” Get a picture of just how special your day could be by booking a viewing of the venue with one of the team.

“The last thing we want on someone’s special day is for guests to go hungry or not enjoy their meal, especially if it is a gift from the couple.

You will receive a functions pack on the day which will include detailed menu options.

“There’s an expectation that wedding reception meals are going to be that little

right direction The Hervey Bay RSL Community Grants program is helping to ‘start the conversation’ when it comes to men’s mental health and well-being on the Fraser Coast. For the second year, the RSL has supported Fraser Coast Mates with a $9600 grant to cover 50% of a dedicated Content Coordinator role for 12 months. The not-for-profit organisation aims to build awareness and conversations about mental health issues with local men and their families, while bridging the gap between support services and ultimately making progress for suicide prevention. Spokesman Darren Bosley said the donation has played a significant part in helping to promote the group's resources, events, and educating the

was started about six years ago in honour of a friend and local businessman lost to suicide. The event, held on the anniversary of the friend's passing, quickly became bigger than expected, with a focus on raising awareness about suicide prevention and mental health initiatives in the local community.

“Whilst we know this is a serious issue, our Golf Day is about bringing people together, creating a better awareness in the community, and a sign from local organisations that we are united in our quest.”

The pink and white-themed golf day is expected to attract about 200 golfers to the Hervey Bay Golf Club on Friday, June 24.
