Many local service operators will have to decide whether to move bookings or run at a loss because of increased costs to staffing.
Some say Hervey Bay is for the “newly wed and the nearly dead”, with retirees, pensioners and young families comprising the majority of the age demographic. For this reason, the future is health and lifestyle services. A huge expansion is necessary and so too should matching local education in nursing and all the allied health professions to provide the well paid jobs for its working population.

But that leaves future expansion on the library site. Two expansions may be more cost effective than one new building. Who is going to profit from the existing buildings in the change

Post covid restrictions and changing social norms, mean we are unlikely to see a return to the amount of socialising outside the home that was once a thing of the past but it is still sad that a city the size of Hervey Bay is lacking in basic entertainment options and that locals are having to travel to Maryborough because they have better late-night socialising options.
It appears there could be an opportunity for businesses to meet the market here and see Hervey Bay reach its potential as a regional leader.
The produce is always fresh and I am able to buy some things which are not available at the supermarkets such as apple cucumbers and gooseberries, which I have not seen since my Dad used to grow them in England just after the war.

Although my times of going out late into the night are behind me, I am concerned by the lack of late-night facilities open in Hervey Bay, especially those catering for a younger crowd. Recent unfortunate events at the Torquay Pub, meant that they have cut their late-night hours so that it is now only the Beach House that is open for late night socialising as well as smaller venues such as 19XO.

TO CELEBRATE 40 years of the Hervey Bay Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists, a special exhibition Colours of Australia will be staged at the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery in September.“Theexhibition is a celebration of the Fraser Coast fibre arts community and the inspiration and beauty they find in the natural environment,” Cr Jade Wellings said.An exhibition by eminent Australian artist and photographer Bill Henson will open at the same time.

To celebrate MGA’s 25th anniversary, Henson was commissioned to revisit the suburb of his childhood and to produce a new body of work that reflects on his earlier series Untitled 1985–86, known by many as ‘the suburban series’.

Funded by the State Government, the upgrades to the ramp now allows a steeper launching angle for bigger boats along with a new surface to meet with new regulations.
“The ramp was closed during construction allowing fish stocks some peace and quiet before the expected influx of fishers for this years’ competition,” said Mike Suidgeest from the Toogoom Fishing Club.
The works at the boat ramp were finished in time for this year’s competition.

Nine year old Digby Rackermann has grand ideas for future aeroplane designs and decided to share his vision with Boeing.

She said she only half expected a response as Boeing are generally a business to business company that do not deal with the public directly.
In his letter Digby explained his ideas for a new 797 plane and said he felt the time was right.Hestated, “I’m sad that the Airbus A380 is slowly being phased out, but I think Boeing could develop a large aircraft like it that’s not only
because of COVID, but I think that by the time this plane comes out, COVID will be behind us, and lots of people will want to fly again to see their families and will appreciate the chance to see the world once more,” said Digby in his letter.
Months after sending a huge drawing of a plane to the Boeing Company Australia, along with a letter explaining his idea for future aeroplane design, Digby was taken by surprise to receive a parcel containing a hat, pen, sticker and a letter thanking him for sending his ideas and picture.Digby’s mother Christina Ongley, said the picture was grand in scale, spread across four sheets of paper stapled together, and the letter was predictably childlike but unmistakably written by an aviation fan.
Ms Ongley said her son had been obsessed with planes for several years, not through any particular encouragement.
