Gatakers Hotel application is music to our ears
HOW wonderful is it to hear of the proposed Gatakers Landing Hotel application? About time.
This is one of the most beautiful spots in Hervey Bay and aside from a handful of disgruntled local residents, the response to the project has been overwhelmingly positive.
When Gatakers Landing Restaurant originally covered the site, it comprised a commercial kitchen, a gift shop and an onsite residential cottage. The refurbishment and instalment of a Commercial Hotel Liquor Licence will provide the community with an amazing new hospitality venue for them to enjoy.

Please note that we are strongly against the proposal for a Hotel at Gatakers Bay Landing.
Point Vernon is at the extreme end of Hervey Bay and a strictly residential area.
It does not take much imagination to know who is the proposer and who already owns the premises.
Yes it would be an ideal venue for an upmarket restaurant ......Only.
Hotels generally attract the more boisterous type of clientele, not to mention a
drug venue of sorts, certainly not for people who might want to stay overnight.
Then there is the parking problem. The existing parking was created to cater for boaties and at present is generally inadequate particularly at weekends and the holiday season,

Wonderful?....I don’t think so.....An amazing new hospitality venue for the community to enjoy?...Bulldust!

Mark Grimsley is an inspiration to many. After developing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) following an incident during deployment on active service for the air force, he has pulled himself out of his depression.

These beach visits were a lifeline to Mark, as they enabled Mark to participate socially, feel part of the community and maintain some independence, despite his disability.
On the eve of mental health week, this routine has all changed. Many people have moved to Dundowran, which
has increased the number of dogs on the once quiet beach.
fRecently, Mark has found that some of the off-leash dogs charge his service dog and himself, endangering both and causing Mark to fit and fall.
People have become aggressive when asked to keep their dogs away, forcing Mark to file a police report to ensure his family’s safety.
Mark is also reluctant to take his grandchildren to the beach because the large dogs jump onto the children, and some owners refuse to manage their dog’s behaviour.
Mark approached the council to seek support. The community ranger has confirmed even during on lead times, some

They also suggested that Mark does not attend the beach during off lead times unless he has a support person with him, as this is the only way that he can be safe. This lack of safety is because the community is not complying with the rules, and the council cannot police the dog activity due to a lack of staff time.
Mark wants the beach area to be inclusive for all people. For this to occur, all dogs must be on the lead at all times. This rule change will also reduce confusion and keep the vulnerable - children, elderly and disabled - safe and able to use the beach like everyone else. He does not want to see a tragedy and feels the council needs to enforce change urgently. “We’ve already had one person on the Fraser Coast die from a dog attack; I’d hate to see another.”
Gatakers HotelMore than pleased
My wife and I are residents of Point Vernon approx. 250 metres from the proposed new Gatakers Landing Hotel and we could not be more pleased. We have previously contacted the developer to find out what was happening and were assured the classic old building was to be tastefully refurbished along with a bunch of innovative ideas to make this site a must visit for those who live in Hervey Bay and those who visit. We are thrilled that
one of the Bay’s most iconic spots will be brought back to life in such a sensitive fashion.

No place to go Dear Editor,
Although my times of going out late into the night are behind me, I am concerned by the lack of late-night facilities open in Hervey Bay, especially those catering for a younger crowd. Recent unfortunate events at the Torquay Pub, meant that they have cut their late-night hours so that it is now only the Beach House that is open for late night socialising as well as smaller venues such as 19XO. Post covid restrictions and changing social norms, mean we are unlikely to see a return to the amount of socialising outside the home that was once a thing of the past but it is still sad that a city the size of Hervey Bay is lacking in basic entertainment options and that locals are having to travel to Maryborough because they have better late-night socialising options. It appears there could be an opportunity for businesses to meet the market here and see Hervey Bay reach its potential as a regional leader.

Do we really need a new administration building in both Maryborough and Hervey Bay? Below is a letter I sent to the now defunct Chronicle in September 2019, needless to say no response from council or it’s CEO!
Having read reports that our council wants to build a new administration building and having formed my own views. I was amazed to see that others hold the same views! David Lee (FCC 20/9/’19) and Dan Scheiwe (theindy 19/9/’19) have the same concerns. Councils CEO claims the council is running out of space! Although they current chambers sit on about five acres on land! Having talk of, or having spent $5,25 million of ratepayers money on the old Pia, pub site, they want to build new council chambers! For what? Our council is obviously opposed to decentralization and in favour of traffic congestion! Rather than enticing traffic into our so called CBD we should be getting traffic out of it. Parking; no problem according to our council. Face facts, strip shopping is dying, here, Townsville, Melbourne Sydney, you name it. Shopping complexes are where people go, plenty of parking and a minimum of walking. CBD’s should become cultural and entertainment hubs, council should let nature take it’s course. Let’s not waste $5.25 million of taxpayers money.

Change the tune from hotel to restaurant
GATAKERS’ Hotel application would bring sour notes to our ears, whereas a restaurant would have more harmonious tones.
Yes, this spot in Point Vernon is a beautiful location in a residential area. Residents here bought for the quiet beauty and because it is not a hot tourist area. Residents locally near Paraweena Eco Park bought there because of the greenery, the local flora and fauna. Residents here go for family walks with their children and dogs.
Why would they want this area, that is home to longterm locals, many elderly who have chosen this area for safety and beauty and quiet, turned into a noisy, commercial development that would detract from lifestyle?
Would you, choose to live next to a site with increased traffic and noise till midnight every day of the week? And if you drive or fish are you going to be annoyed at the limited parking and access to the ramp?
And are you going to feel safer and better about the elevated noise and the behaviours that often require police intervention?
Are you going to feel safer going for your evening walk with your spouse, friend or dog knowing that persons overimbibing are prone to belligerent behaviour, foul language and vandalism?
A Hotel in this area would challenge lifestyle.
With environmental concerns to the fore in current thought we would be derelict in our duty to install development that would threaten the endangered Loggerhead turtles and other species of turtles that nest on the adjacent beaches.
Would you like to be the one who hits one of the resident kangaroos or in avoiding it causes injury and harm to yourself or nearby people and homes?
I know that I would rather be the one who enjoys the beach, who watches the gorgeous sunsets over the bay or wonders at the big ospreys in the park without having to risk life and limb avoiding more traffic as I cross the narrow road that
edges an access to get to the hotel.
Are we saying that development supersedes lifestyle?
There are hotels nearby and throughout Hervey Bay in commercial and tourist areas. They provide adequately for entertainment and beverage for locals and tourists.
A restaurant providing patrons with scenic views, stylish serenity and great food accompanied by a glass of a favourite tipple would be a good option. It would provide benefits with limited deficits to people’s homes, lifestyle and the environment.
So it is unashamedly a choice over development for developments sake (make that money) and lifestyle for health, serenity for people and the environment.
Do we dance to the tune of the mighty dollar and a foggy night of grogginess or the better lifestyle that people are generally edging towards considering sustainability, climate change and a better lifestyle in a better world?

Main Street Powerlines to be Moved Underground
Overhead powerlines and communications cabling down Main Street in Pialba will be moved underground as part of the Hervey Bay City Centre revitalisation.
Fraser Coast Regional Councillor Denis Chapman said Council was partnering with the Australian Government through the Hinkler Regional Deal to breathe new life and opportunities into the Hervey Bay City Centre.

“The undergrounding of overhead powerlines aligns with the Hervey Bay City Centre Master Plan that Council adopted earlier this year following extensive community consultation. It is also a key associated project to the new Hervey Bay Library and Council Administration Centre.
“Moving the powerlines on Main Street between Old Maryborough Road and Torquay Road underground will help visually enhance the main corridor through the Hervey Bay City Centre.
“It will help pave the way for the new development in the Hervey Bay Centre that will feature a public plaza, a larger library over two levels, flexible community spaces and about 100 underground public car parks.
“This is a once in a generation opportunity to reshape the
Hervey Bay City Centre, to create jobs and drive economic growth and investment.”
The undergrounding of Main Street powerlines is expected to cost around $2.5 million with the work expected to get underway in early to mid-2023. Council anticipates attracting a state government grant to offset the costs of the project.

Kristy Barbour, one of the Fraser Coast organisers, said the event was special to her, having experienced five losses, all at different stages of pregnancy.

New youth bail support service for Fraser Coast
A new bail support service for young offenders on the Fraser Coast is set to be established following calls from the local Member for Hervey Bay, Adrian Tantari. The service is part of the Queensland Government’s ongoing commitment to tackling youth offending in the region.
The service will focus on greater supervision for young people on youth justice orders to ensure they meet their bail requirements.
Minister for Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs Leanne Linard said a provider will be chosen through an open tender process to deliver the service, with funding of $1 million.
“This is all about tackling the underlying issues that can cause some young people to commit crimes, and to stop an escalation in their offending,” Ms. Linard said.
“The service which will commence in early December, will deliver a mix of individual case management and outreach activities for young people on bail.”
“The support will be different for every young person and every family. It can include getting them back into education or training or connecting them to services to address the underlying issues that contribute to offending such as housing, health, drug and substance misuse.”
Adrian Tantari said the introduction of the bail support service is in line with the government’s overall Youth Justice Strategy, which recognises the importance of breaking the cycle of crime for young people.”
“Young people who offend must be held accountable for their actions, and where necessary this includes being detained. There also needs to be support in place to break the cycle of offending.”
“Bail support services are just one element of our
strategy, which includes tough bail laws, early intervention services to prevent criminal behaviour, and a range of programs and support to help young people address their offending.”
Minister Linard said all Queenslanders deserve to feel safe.
“We are continuing to take whatever steps are necessary to reduce youth crime and break the cycle of offending. We know the community wants us to do more and we are answering that call,” she said.

The Upmarket Market will be held at the Pialba Bowls Club in Taylor Street on Sunday 29th October 2022 from 10am to 5pm. The Clubs facilities will be available to the public including bar, eftpos machine, parking and amenities.
Prominent local artists and artisans have come together to host an arts and crafts market at Pialba Bowls Club. The Upmarket Market is a concept underpinned by the presentation of only high-quality art and craft products.
There are accomplished potters, painters from multiple mediums, quilters, astonishing glass makers, bespoke jewellery, soaps makers and more.
Camille Sangster an internationally exhibited artist has drawn together an eclectic group to present a different visual and sensory experience to the community of Hervey Bay.

Project displaying ceramic poppies at Freedom Memorial Park for the 2022 ANZAC day service. This core group of community minded Fraser Coast women have been instrumental in gathering talented local crafters and artists from as far as Gladstone to exhibit their works.
Ron Johnson, a Toogom art teacher and professional watercolourist will give a demonstration on painting with water colours on the day. He intends to donate his painting to be raffled with the proceed going to the Pialba Bowls Club. Members of the Hervey Bay Basketball Association today welcomed a decision by Fraser Coast Regional Council to approve funding for the first stage of a new Multipurpose Facility at the Fraser Coast Sports and Recreation Precinct.
Hervey Bay Basketball Association President Matt Baker said the decision, made at today’s council meeting, was a boost for the local community and a positive commitment to supporting the
health and wellbeing of local families.
Mr Baker thanked councillors for their support of the project and said the decision meant planning could start immediately on the facility which will include two indoor and one outdoor court.
“We congratulate Fraser Coast Regional Council on identifying methods to support the ongoing development of health and wellbeing in our community. This facility will provide both economic and
social benefits for the region as it will enable an increase in membership, and the ability to attract coaching clinics and major tournaments.”
Mr Baker said the growth of the sport locally meant that games would still be held at the current site at the PCYC in O’Rourke Street for the foreseeable future.

The Oasis - The Bay’s new crisis support service
“The Oasis is one of eight crisis support spaces being trialled across Queensland, as part a $61.9 million commitment in 2019 by the Palaszczuk Government to improve mental health crisis care,” Mr Tantari said.
“Crisis support spaces provide a combination of peer and clinical support in a welcoming and homely environment, and aim to provide an alternative to the emergency department while also improving people’s crisis care experiences and outcomes.
“Located near the entrance to the Hervey Bay Hospital emergency department, The Oasis launched in February this year as a limited-hours service, but has recently extended its hours due to strong growth in demand and hugely positive feedback from consumers. There are many other stories like Janine’s.”
The Oasis is open five days a week from Friday to Tuesday, 2pm-9pm.
“During Mental Health Week, we’re reminded more
than ever of our priorities to reduce suicide and enhance our crisis care, particularly given the extra pressure the COVID-19 pandemic has put on people’s mental health and demand for services,” Mr Tantari said.
“That’s why we committed $1.6 billion to the state Better Care Together five-year mental health plan in our latest Budget. This new investment will enable significant expansion of crisis support spaces across Queensland.”
From its launch in February 2022 through to 30 September, The Oasis has experienced strong demand, with just over 220 presentations from people of all ages – roughly half of which from people returning for support without needing to re-present to the ED.
Wide Bay Hospital and Health Board Chair Peta Jamieson said the Oasis was a great demonstration of WBHHS’s broader goals to deliver more care locally and enhance holistic health care.
“The Oasis is all about
providing the right care, in the right place, at the right time,” Ms Jamieson said.
“This service is different because it’s led by peer workers, who use their own lived experience of mental health challenges to provide support and hope to people as they work towards recovery.
“It’s also the only one of its kind in Queensland open to people as young as 16, enabling more young people struggling with their mental health to benefit from this lifechanging model of care.”
WBHHS Executive Director of Mental Health and Specialised Services Robyn Bradley said one of the key aspects of the new service was that it enabled suitable people who presented to the emergency department to be fast-tracked to The Oasis – or to bypass the ED completely.

“The Oasis is helping us to fundamentally change the way we respond to people experiencing a mental health crisis,” Ms Bradley said.
“Up until now, people experiencing a mental health crisis – particularly after hours – would present to our emergency department because this was their only option or, even worse, would not reach out for help at all because of previous poor experiences in an ED.

For Janine, who visited the Oasis three nights in a row when she was in the grips of severe depression, that encounter has been an important step on the road to recovery.
“(The Oasis team) helped me realise that there’s nothing monumental about beginning
to return from such a severe depression – it’s just taking that one step. I’ve taken that step, and I’m now steadily climbing out of the deep pit I’d been trapped in,” she said.
“I think the Oasis could have completely changed my life if it had existed when I first became involved in the mental health system as a young person. Now that it’s here, I hope many more people will choose to use it when they need it.
“It changed my life; it can change others’ lives too.”

The Red Bike Adventure is becoming another iconic event for the Fraser Coast to be proud of. They support Mental Health services through their fundraising efforts that this event was their 3rd year consecutive year.
The parade of 32 Red Bikes and over 20 volunteers began their journey at the Urangan Community Centre ‘Tree House’ where they all a BBQ breakfast before departing on the morning Thursday 6th October. The convoy of Red Bikes then headed off to K’Gari where they had a two day experience of visiting some of the natural wonders the world’s largest sand island offers on their old ‘postie’ bikes.
Craig Taylor, one of the organisors of the event, says that everyone has been collecting the unique trusty bikes over the years to be part of the event. “We joke that we have increased the value of the old ‘postie’ bike by more than $1,000 in the last few years.”
The first day had them tackle some of the inner tracks that tested the durability of many bikes, followed by the second day which had them visit some of the most popular locations the island offers, including Hook Point, the Maheno wreck and Eli Creek.
They had great support from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service overseeing their movements and also the
local Queensland Police who ensured responsible driving of vehicles.
The final night celebrations was back at the Eurong Beach Resort where the group enjoyed their final night and an Auction of donated products from the company Wurth that raised over $6,000 alone.
The final tally raised by this group is $12,000 that 100% of the funds go towards free counselling services for local residents in need of mental health support.

A Dog’s Day Out
Fraser Coast pet owners had the opportunity to treat their furry friend and renew their registration at a special new event held at Seafront Oval.
Deputy Mayor Paul Truscott said ‘A Dog’s Day Out’ was designed to be both an educational and fun day out for the whole family.
“Having a dog can provide a lot of enjoyment and companionship but also comes with commitments and responsibilities, including ensuring they are registered every year as required under Queensland Government legislation,” he said.
“Council’s ‘A Dog’s Day Out’ was a bit like an outdoor pet expo with market stalls showcasing pet products and experiences, agility demos, pet care talks and Customer Service staff available to process dog registrations.
“The free event was held on Sunday 16 October to coincide with the annual dog registration renewal period, with renewal notices issued and
payments due by 31 October.
“We’ve been heartened by the fact that the number of dogs registered in the region has increased from about 14,000 to more than 20,000 in recent years, and encourage residents to keep doing the right thing.
“Ensuring your dog is registered and microchipped helps reduce the number of animals that end up at the pound and makes it easier for Council to reunite lost pets with their owners.”
The registration fees collected help pay for Council’s animal management operations including compliance inspections, dog attack investigations, the
running of animal pounds and the adoption centre, fenced off-leash areas and responsible pet care programs.
It is compulsory for dogs to be registered with Council from twelve weeks of age and within 14 days of owners moving to the Fraser Coast region, while dogs also need to be desexed before 22 weeks of age.
Council offers free first time dog registration, while the lowest registration fee is for dogs that are desexed and microchipped, aside from working/assistance dogs which don’t attract a fee.

Milestone! Comfort to over 10,000 kids
The hospital can be a daunting experience for kids and so many prefer the security of their own home.
Unfortunately, when sickness requires the professional medical support, the hospital is their home for days, weeks, sometimes months on end.
In 2016, Trish Hummerston was a volunteer at the hospital in Hervey Bay could see the uneasiness and anxiety children experience when being admitted for hospital care, sometimes by simply being in their waiting room.
Trish had to do something to help these children and asked her son, who own’s a landscaping business in Brisbane, to donate $500 so she could provide a gift bag to children.
Just over 5 years later, Comfort Kids Zone has delivered their 10,000th comfort bag to a child. This remarkable achievement has been made through many challenges including a pandemic that still couldn’t stop this giving lady.
“They are like a distraction for the kids” says Mrs Hummerston. “Nurses and staff at the hospital also help us hand them out and get tremendous feedback”.
The handmade bags made from wool material are each filled with a teddy bear, shampoo and conditioner, tooth brush and toothpaste, soap, combs or brushes and also a colouring book.
Mrs Hummerston made a special mention of the group ‘Touch of Craft’. “These band of ladies are amazing……they have made over 10,000 teddy bears and bags. I could not
have done this without them”.

RSL Grant kicks a goal for local Futsal
A $3,500 Hervey Bay RSL Community Grant has assisted the QLD Country Futsal Under 10 team, of which seven players are from Hervey Bay, attend the National School Championships in Brisbane on September 26-29. The cost of travel, accommodation and equipment.
Coach and Manager Grant Yeatman said the grant assisted with the cost of travel, accommodation and equipment.
‘We really want to thank the Hervey Bay RSL for their support and donation towards the team attending this prestigious event’ Grant said.
‘We concluded the tournament with presentations and an evening at Dreamworld which was enjoyed by all the Futsal families’.
‘Since returning from the tournament, we have been informed that several of our players have been selected in the Australian team that will tour Fiji in July 2023 in the U9 and U10 age groups. This is an amazing opportunity and great to see many of our talented players being recognised and provided with opportunities to further their skills and development’.

Why will the Hervey Bay Property Market be Resilient?
market which is set to decline in capital cities. On top of this, our Treasurer is predicting a global recession as a “probable” outcome. High inflation is still here and the cost of living is still rising.
So, what does that mean for the Hervey Bay property market? Firstly, the market has risen by around 25% Australia wide during COVID. The difference is that capital cities started on a high base value, whereas Hervey Bay was very much undervalued as we had below average capital growth for a decade prior to this boom. What this means is our property market is still good value now and are still well below Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast values.
Let’s look at a few other factors that will continue to prop up our market in the coming decade. We are in a high growth area, so house demand will stay high. Rental vacancies are at 0.6% which means strong investment returns for rental properties. We also have a large construction backlog of probably 12 months in advance, meaning costs of new houses will stay high, keeping all property prices buoyant.
Since COVID there is a continuing trend of movement out of the cities towards regions such as Hervey Bay. This trend is predicted to increase with over $11mil expected to be living in the regions by 2032.

Mark Cassidy was born in the eastern suburbs of Sydney in 1964, Bondi Beach and Tamarama Beach were the perfect hangouts for a sports mad teenage kid. Sailing and rugby were favourite pastimes fondly remembered.
Life was not always idyllic, though. Mark’s parents split up when he was fourteen. From that moment onwards, Mark had to grow up quickly and take on more responsibility.
“I had to look after myself, it was a tough time, but I had to survive. I mostly stayed with a dad who wasn’t always home. I remember, on one occasion, attending a parent-teacher night
at my younger sister’s school when my parents wouldn’t go, so effectively, I went along as her parent. I just had to cope; it was just part of life.”
Mark didn’t have time to be rebellious but got out and had a good time when he could. Whether rain, hail, or shine, nearly every afternoon was spent at the beach, and he would be home in time for dinner.
“Looking back, the whole experience taught me about goal setting and resilience, even though I didn’t realise this until much later,” Mark said.
Some of the kids at his school would go on to become
household names, like TV personality Larry Emdur, landscape architect Costa Georgiadis and in high school, actor Russell Crowe. (Mark and Russell played rugby and were on the same team).
Mark finished high school and then went on to uni to study physiotherapy. He had survived his teenage years and ticked off some goals along the way.
Mark says, “We had no HECS fees back then, uni was free. During those years, I also had odd jobs here and there. I drove taxis during the holidays, made jaffles for a takeaway shop and worked at night-time putting inserts into the Sunday

In the years since, Mark has made a successful career both as a business owner and as a physiotherapist and currently owns Bayside Physiotherapy.
Through hard work and resilience, he has enjoyed watching the business grow over the last nineteen years.
“Meeting Jacqui about twenty years ago and asking her to be my wife was a special time in my life. When I met Jacqui, I was at a stage where I was comfortable in my own space.
It is great to have someone to share life’s experiences with.
“It was especially important to me that our kids had a stable
foundation to grow. I wanted them to have a nice home where they can feel nurtured, safe, and loved. I think Jacqui and I have achieved this.”
Since he was a kid, Mark has always loved helping people, whether it be through mentoring, having a conversation over a beer or volunteering. He was quite heavily involved with rugby and was doing a little physiotherapy when needed, and still volunteers at the Hervey Bay Surf Lifesaving Club.
Volunteering highlights include volunteering as a physiotherapist at the Commonwealth Games
(Melbourne, 2006 and Gold Coast, 2018) and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Mark said that working in the athlete’s village with all the athletes from around the world was an unforgettable experience.
“I have lived on the Fraser Coast now for nineteen years. After travelling around Australia and travelling through this region, I felt at home here. I thought that I wouldn’t mind living here one day, and that day came.
“I love to see the water and to see the horizon as that’s where I grew up, close to the water, paddling, swimming and enjoying life to the fullest.”

“I left it until the last minute to apply, and Dad sent it in the day; I competed at the World Championships. It is good to be recognised for the effort I have been putting in,” Powers said.
He has already been contacted by Olympic Gold Medal beach volleyball player Kerri Pottharst, who spoke to him via zoom about her journey and the obstacles she overcame.
“It was great to chat with her and listen to her story. I know I have a few more sessions to come,” he said.
Powers is currently training for a tilt at the upcoming Noosa Triathlon and has headed to the Gold Coast for a week’s training block.
Fraser Coast Cricket takes guard 1st Round of season
CRICKET: Fraser Coast senior and junior cricket got underway on the weekend. In the senior competition, two games were played in Maryborough, with Grammars Tinana defeating Bushrangers Blue on the central oval and Bushrangers Gold getting over the top of Ausrocks. At the same time, Hervey Bay Cricket hosted the Cavaliers and Cavnish.
In Hervey Bay, Cavnish and Cavaliers faced off, with Cavnish claiming the win. Batting first and posting a total of 7/172 of their 40 overs, with Josh Lenton and Paul Stanton making 37 and 35 each. Three Cavaliers bowlers collected two wickets each. Cavaliers were dismissed for 124 in the thirty-seventh over, with Troy Beckton and Paul Stanton taking three wickets.
In Maryborough, Bushrangers Blue made 125, with David Lever striking a half-century with 53. Grammars Tinana Ashton Mitchell
is taking 3/9 off his three overs. Grammars Tinana knocked over the total in 25 overs finishing on 5/128. Justin Frohling claimed all five Grammars Tinana wickets with 5/27 off eight overs.
In the other match, Bushrangers, Gold got over the top of Ausrocks. Ausrocks were dismissed for 64, with Jesse Riley claiming 5/9 off his five overs. It only took Bushrangers 12 overs to pass the total, with Brent Dean scoring 36 off 35 balls.
In junior’s action Hervey Bay were defeated by YMCA/Isis in the under 16’s while Maryborough also suffered a defeat against The Waves.
In the under 14’s Maryborough defeated YMCA/Isis with Mitchell Wilcox scoring a half-century.
