Having amassed more than half a billion dollars in sales across Hervey Bay, the Prime Agents team are dominating the market with fresh and innovative marketing campaigns to get the very best price for their sellers.
Prime Agents Principal, Leah Quinn was candid about the last few years and where things are heading now.
‘Anyone who thinks the Hervey Bay market is slowing down, isn’t talking to Prime Agents. The 2022/2023 financial year will be our biggest ever’, Leah said.
‘There has been a general thought that the boom was being fuelled by a regional shift, people looking for a sea-change from metropolitan areas, when in reality, for us, it has been just as much about locals moving locally’.
It’s hard for a real estate agent to go anywhere without people asking them how the market is going.
‘If you ask ten different principals from ten different offices, you’ll likely get ten different answers. I can only speak about what we have experienced. It wasn’t that long ago that selling a house inside a month was a great result. Today, if we bring a property to the market and it doesn’t have significant interest in a very short period of time,
we know we need to review the listing’.
‘As a group, we have the largest social media following on the Fraser Coast. We invest in Realestate.com, Domain, we are big users of local newspaper advertising, we are on radio, billboards, buses and trailers. People say to us, I just see Prime Agents everywhere. That’s how we get results. Multi-channel marketing ensuring total market coverage’.
‘The best part about reaching out to Prime Agents and asking what your house would likely sell for in today’s market, is the extent of the detail we provide and it’s all free. You don’t even have to sell with us, sometimes you just want to know what you’re sitting on’.
When asked where the market would go from here, Leah was strong on her forecast.
‘We have one the highest performing and most experienced sales teams in the region, and we all agree on this, this region is powering, Hervey Bay is a highly sought after location and shows no sign of slowing down, not for our sellers anyway. We know the market backwards and would welcome the opportunity to talk to anyone about their home. After all, real estate isn’t just a job for us, it’s a passion’.
There is little doubt that Principal Leah Quinn and her highly experienced team at Prime Agents are at the forefront of the real estate boom here in Hervey Bay.

Firstly, I am not an authority in regards to youth crime. I am not a professional in any field related to the management of youth or youth crime.
I am merely a concerned citizen, long past retirement age, who feels that a lot of what has transpired in recent decades needs to be urgently addressed.
I am a father and stepfather of three children, fortunately, none of whom were required to spend any time at Her (His) Majesty’s pleasure.
One of those children served 20 years as a police officer,
WE THROW the word hero around a lot. Sports people, celebrities, entertainers.

Let me tell you who I think is a real hero.
Nikita Falconer is an incredibly brave lady, who has used the hand dealt to her to make a difference for other local cancer sufferers.
In May of 2022, the local 32-year-old mother of two young girls, was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer.
She was sent to Brisbane for surgery to remove the cancer that had spread in her body.
After four more operations, 30 days in hospital, including five of them in ICU, her initial cancer treatment was prolonged by ten weeks.
She then set about her 12 weeks of chemotherapy at the Forbes Cancer Care Centre,
until he retired after losing confidence in the legislative and judicial services.
I believe that the current issues surrounding youth crime have their beginnings about 60 years ago. At that time there began a whole raft of changes to the philosophy of child raising.
The “do-gooders” and civil libertarians forced on us a whole school of thought that considered children had the right to a free form lifestyle.
This lifestyle, supposedly, was to emphasize the need for children to learn to use their own imagination, to explore any boundaries without the
threat of any consequences or punishment.
Parents, teachers and police were restricted by law, and by social expectations, from carrying out any form of discipline. Children soon learned that they had free rein and, in a lot of cases, grew up without any form of parental control. It is these individuals that are presenting us with the problems today.
At this point it is likely that most of the offenders today, are the result of two or more generations of parents not knowing how to discipline their children, or not being allowed. So the problem just
located at St Stephen’s Hospital. Sadly, many of our readers will know this place well. I certainly know it well, as my wife spent 12 weeks there last year as well, on her own breast cancer journey.
Just like Nikita, my wife was lucky enough to have access to the cold cap machine. Think of a helmet that pumps super cold liquid around your head to stop the chemo from taking all your hair. It’s no walk in the park, adds about three additional hours to your already horrendous treatment day, and I’m told feels like the worst brain freeze you’ll ever get.
There was a problem though. There was only one machine in Hervey Bay, that just two ladies could share at any time. That wasn’t enough.
compounds itself, and will continue to do so.
Looking back at my childhood in the 1950s, in a working family environment that did not include many luxuries, but did include love and discipline, I had my share of discipline.
As a child, my siblings and myself were disciplined when it was appropriate, and sometimes severely. We all knew the consequences of transgressions large and small and knew what the relevant punishment would be. We soon learned what was right and what was wrong. The discipline was only carried
Nikita knew that this vital piece of machinery helped ladies to feel a little bit more normal, even if they didn’t really. It helped them to maintain a deeply personal sense of dignity. To not look sick. She planned and executed an epic event at the Beach House Hotel last month and raised more than $130,000 to fund a second cold cap machine. The community played its part and it was one of those projects, where you cannot help but feel the indelible human spirit.
This driven young lady did this to help others. She drove the whole thing. It was selfless, brave and incredibly humbling.
Nikita Falconer, you are a champion.
Mayor George Seymour – I don’t know how she can be recognised, but let’s do it.
out after we had been given a lesson in what we had done wrong and why punishment was required.
My father had a greenhide, (leather), strip about half a metre long that hung in plain view outside the bathroom. That strip was only used sparingly, and only when we really needed it. We did not live in fear of it but rather looked at it and used it as a reminder.

There is currently much debate centered on the legal age of responsibility. The legal thinking is that someone under sixteen can not differentiate between right and wrong.
To say that someone under 16, who illegally enters a residence, steals a motor vehicle, causes significant damage and threatens life, does not know that they are doing wrong, is, quite plainly, idiotic in the extreme.
I know with the utmost certainty that by age ten I had a good understanding of the basic concept of right and wrong. I may not have been able to argue the legal points of manslaughter and murder, or the finer points of tax fraud, but I knew that it was wrong to steal a car, and if I did so, I would be punished. I knew that I could probably get
away with grabbing an apple from an overhanging tree, but I would not get away with bringing a wheelbarrow and filling it up with stolen apples.
It is obvious that a large proportion of the youth today have little respect for any form of authority. They do not have any respect for their parents, teachers, family, police, or the community generally.
That was something that was instilled into me at an early age. My father’s threat of taking me around the corner to have a talk with the police sergeant never eventuated.
But I have remembered the discussion ever since.
A senior police officer recently stated on the television that social, as well as the mainstream media, had a responsibility to deny teenage criminals a platform for boasting about their crimes. The recent display on TV news of a group of juveniles, in a stolen car, being followed by a large group of police cars, in a slow speed pursuit, blatantly showing themselves posting onto social media, was sickening.
It was obvious that the police were staying back and did not want to engage with the offenders through some fear of upsetting their fragile personalities.
I totally agree with this officer that social media, in

particular, should be held to account in this regard.
Mainstream media, television etc, must be allowed to provide legitimate news, but should not overly serve to inflate the offenders’ egos.

This whole problem is multifaceted and requires many different approaches, but one thing is apparent, what we did fifty or 60 years ago needs to be reversed. Parents, teachers, police and the broader community need to be given back control over their children. The root cause of juvenile crime, in all its forms, commences when parents lose control of their ability to discipline their children.

I’m guessing that streets in Urangan are under the umbrella of the Fraser Coast Council.
I noticed there has been some new work carried out at the intersection of Pulgul and Moolyyir Sts and I believe Town Planning must have put a lot of thought into this one. There is a pedestrian crossing incorporated into a speed hump on each side of the intersection, 4 in total; it takes a bit of driving to get around the corner. I didn’t think there was that much
traffic and pedestrians down that end of town.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but it just seems like another blatant waste of rate payers money.

I’m sorry you feel the Fraser Coast doesn’t need a public holiday for the show so the people that do work can attend this once a year event.
I took my grandchildren every year until they were old enough to take themselves. When you work most of your life, having that public holiday is like winning the lottery.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Youth Rehabilitation is necessary for the long term benefit to society. Why we neglect our poor and vulnerable youth is a blight on society. Most offenders come from disadvantaged backgrounds where parents don’t have sufficient funds to engage their young in sport or other meaningful pursuits. Money is not the root of all evil, it is lack of money which creates these problems.

FRASER Coast’s Marine Mecca has been named in the top nine emerging sustainable experiences in Australia this week by a national travel publication.

The rankings were published in the May edition of Australian Traveller with the Fraser Coast’s new Marine Mecca product suite named at Number 9.

The magazine selected 100 emerging destinations and experiences which were promoted in a series of articles, enticing readers to journey with its writers as they ventured into some of Australia’s most iconic locations showcasing eco conscious stays.
Two Wide Bay experiences were in the top nine – with the
newly-credentialed Bundaberg region coming in at number five.
Australian Traveller writer Carla Grossetti selected the Fraser Coast Marine Mecca products in the final list because of the diverse range of experiences offered 365 days a year.
“Renowned for its unique whale watching encounters, the Fraser Coast is much more,” he wrote.
“From wreck and reef diving to bareboat sailing charters, fishing adventures, jet-ski tours, K’gari Adventures and Indigenous excursions, the Fraser Coast is a year round holiday destination with the perfect subtropical climate”.
Fraser Coast Tourism &

Events general manager Martin Simons said selection of the Marine Mecca product suite in the top 10 of emerging sustainable experiences in the nation was an amazing result for a new marketing initiative for the region.
“Marine Mecca was only launched to the market this year, and the recognition shows that the quality of experiences in one of the most pristine waterways on Australia’s east coast was immediately resonating.”

FRASER Coast and K’gari could soon be the stage for more film production that introduces our natural assets to the world.
Fraser Coast Films was recently launched at an event at The Boat Club Cinema, a regional film company based in Hervey Bay with the objective of showcasing the region’s local beauty and stunning locations of the Fraser Coast.

Following the successful production of 13 Summers, Executive Producer and wellknown local businessman, Glen Winney, presented the new venture to local council representatives, State Government, business and tourism leaders and many interested investors. Starring well known Australian actors such as
Georgie Parker and Bec Hewitt, a trailer was shown of the film shot in Hervey Bay last year with favourable feedback from the audience.
Producer Jeremy Stanford and Director Tam Sainsbury presented at the event within days of their return from the Internationally acclaimed Cannes Film Festival, where they spoke to many film distributors about their recent production that gained “amazing interest”.
Mr Stanford said, “They could not believe that places like Lake McKenzie were real.”
Fraser Coast Films is the brainchild of the three producers of 13 Summers (Tam, Jeremy and Bill) and Glen Winney, a resident of Hervey Bay for over 40 years and owner of successful property company Win Group.
His passion for the region with a strong interest in movies led to his investment in the recent 13 Summers production and now convinced the directors/ producers to invest in more production in the area.
“This is an opportunity for our region to have our beautiful backyard on screens across Australia and hopefully the world stage,” said Mr Winney.
A representative of Screen Queensland, Ian Lynch was also in attendance that the message was made for Regional Queensland can play a big role in creating quality products for the screen. Their support in the movie Elvis is one of their recent successes that has gained world recognition.

BUILDING works for the first phase of the multimillion-dollar redevelopment of the Scarness Caravan Park will start soon.
At its meeting on May 24, Fraser Coast Regional Council awarded a $1.8m tender to Rejuvenate Construction Solutions to build the caravan park manager’s office/ residence, amenities, camp kitchen and barbecues as part of the redevelopment of the western half of the park. Work is already underway on a $3.2 million contract with Murphy Builders to construct the roads and install the underground power,
water and sewerage systems in preparation for the new facilities.
“While the work is underway, the eastern section of the park will remain open for fully selfcontained campers,” Cr David Lee said.
“The redevelopment is being undertaken in stages so the new western facilities will be opened as they are completed, with the aim that all works are completed by 2024.”

“The aim is to ensure that works on the next eastern section are ready to go as soon once the new section is opened,” Cr Lee said.
“We apologise for any
inconvenience caused while the work is carried out, but the end result will be a more modern caravan park, catering for the needs of today’s tourists.

“A key focus for Council over the next five years is to plan for the future, and to effectively manage and maintain our assets, and this project is an example of how we are working to achieve both those outcomes for our community.”

LAST month, the 2023 Science and Engineering Challenge was held at Hervey Bay PCYC.
It’s an event designed to inspire students to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).

It is a joint effort that brings together three local Rotary clubs (Hervey Bay City, Hervey Bay Sunrise and Maryborough Sunrise), seven schools from Hervey Bay and Maryborough that includes 189 students and 30 Rotary and community volunteers together with volunteers from Operation

    Hard Yakka.
The University of Newcastle ran the event together with the University of the Sunshine Coast who put students through eight STEM related activities, with the major one being Bridge Building where students build a bridge out of balsa wood to carry a mining cart weighing over 5 Kg. The students really enjoyed this challenge with local Fraser Coast Regional Council councillor and Rotarian David Lee being the VIP judging the Bridge Building competition. Riverside Christian College Maryborough was the winner
for the day, and they will now go on to compete in regional and possibly the state finals later in the year.
“The Engineering and Science Challenge is a great opportunity for years 9 and 10 students to cultivate an interest in STEM careers. Well done to all the students who participated”, said Councillor Lee.
This event was only made possible by financial support from all three levels of Government and many local engineering companies wanting to encourage young people to take up a STEM career.

Queensland Impact Snapshot shows the value HBNC brings to the Hervey Bay community.
The 2022 report reveals HBNC provided $2,707,117 in community value in 2022, which equates to $21.87 for every $1 of Queensland Government Neighbourhood Centre funding, or $601.58 for every one hour the Neighbourhood Centre was in use.

HBNC CEO, Tanya Stevenson, expressed her gratitude for the support of the community, staff, volunteers and government funding that made this possible.
"We are thrilled to have been able to provide such significant value to our community," she said.

    "Our services have improved
quality of life through social connection and emergency relief, as well as supporting local jobs and employment outcomes."
Some key findings from the report show HBNC delivered the value of:
$1,730,979 in improved quality of life through social connection
    $774,696 in volunteer contributions
    $32,227 in emergency relief
$169,215 in services provided

These statistics are based on data HBNC reported to Neighbourhood Centres Queensland, using calculation methods developed by Deloitte Access Economics.

“Weekly and Monthly data was collected from the Second Quarter of 2022 and extrapolated to one year,” the report explains.
“This figure is based on data provided through the Neighbourhood Centre Survey 2022. This data is generally indicative of Neighbourhood Centre operations during the COVID19 pandemic while Stage 1 Lockdown Restrictions were not in place.”
"We are proud of what we have achieved for the community, especially at a time when cost of living, housing and employment pose significant challenges," Tanya said.

"We hope this report inspires others to support their local community centres and help make a positive impact on people's lives."

THE INTERSECTION of Pulgul and Moolyyir streets in Urangan has undergone a major revamp that will significantly enhance the safety of pedestrians and motorists using the crossroad.

The centrepiece of the $555,000 project, funded under the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program, is a roundabout and raised pedestrian crossings.
“The roundabout and raised crossings will greatly improve the safety of motorists and pedestrians using the intersection,” Fraser Coast Regional Councillor Zane O’Keefe said.

“The amount of traffic using the intersection has grown considerably as housing developments have occurred along the southern end of Pulgul Street.”
The work included the roundabout, four raised pedestrian crossings, six cyclist on and off ramps, footpath connections and new lighting.
Improving the road network across the region is a primary focus for Council, Cr O’Keefe said.
“Statistics from the organisers of National Road Safety Week (May 14 – 21) indicate that every year, about
1,200 people are killed, and another 44,000 are seriously injured on Australian roads,” he said.
“Traffic injury is the biggest killer of Australian children under 15 and the secondbiggest killer of all Australians aged between 15 and 24.
“These numbers are growing yearly but are preventable if we choose to Drive So Others Survive.”

Local company Grand Civil delivered the project.
This financial year, Council is investing $41.3 million in roads, bridges and drainage projects.

Nikita Falconer was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer last year at age 32.
The mum of two young girls underwent a number of operations before she was able to start on chemotherapy at the Forbes Cancer Care Centre, located at St Stephen's Hospital.
“Once I started my chemotherapy treatment, I was however lucky enough to be one of two people that were able to use the only cold cap machine in the Wide Bay region for the twelve rounds of weekly chemotherapy.”
Cold caps and scalp cooling systems can help women keep some, or quite a bit, of their hair during chemotherapy treatment that can cause hair loss.
“The cold cap I used was like a tightly fitting helmet. It was filled with a cold gel or liquid that you wear during chemotherapy infusions.”
When Nikita learned that there were just two cold caps in the entire Wide Bay region, she sprung into action with a vision to raise the $40,000 required to purchase a second machine.

“I did a pink ribbon morning tea in my front yard last year and that raised $8,000. I then set about organising a dinner
called ‘Cap for Chemo’, and it just went crazy.”

The event was held at The Beach House on May 20th, and the 260 tickets sold out almost immediately.
“I could have sold it out twice. The community support was simply overwhelming.”
The event raised a staggering $137,372.
“This will be more than enough to supply a new cold cap machine for the Forbes Cancer Care Centre and the balance of the funds will go into other essential equipment for this local facility.”
“There was an anonymous donor there on the night
who was prepared to top up whatever fundraising money we needed to buy the cold cap machine, if we fell short. They didn’t need to do that, but still made a personal donation of $22,000.”

When asked if she would make this an annual event, Nikita was very proud of her achievements but pragmatic about making it an annual event.
“I personally wouldn’t do it again myself, simply due to the time required. But I would love to be involved, support and attend if a group or someone else wants to keep it going.”

HERVEY Bay is producing many sports stars reaching national level and now the region will have five local school girls representing our country in rugby league later this year.
The five Hervey Bay High School girls have been invited to play for the Australian Wanderers Junior Ruby Squad that will play in the United Kingdom and France later this year.
Denna Budby, Shakina Godbee, Izzy Shorter, Mackenzie Pitchford and Layla Simpson have all been selected as part of a squad that will play other schools and clubs as well as receive elite level coaching.
The girls were identified at last year’s school girls state championships in Gladstone representing Wide Bay and more recently played at a Gold Coast carnival.
The competitions they have performed well at are some of the best 15-16 year old girls in Queensland. Women’s Rugby League continues to grow as a sport and these carnivals attract 50-60 scouts from across Australia that are in search of future stars of the game.
Deena’s mum, Tatum Budby, says it’s a real thrill for all of the girls to be selected. “They are very excited about their selection and now getting the
opportunity to go overseas. They have been very busy with fundraising activities to raise money for the trip.”
The cost for them to be part of the touring team is over $6,000 each but they have already received great support from supportive organisations such as Hervey Bay RSL and the Community Bank Hervey Bay.

“This town has been fantastic in their support with businesses coming forward with donations”, says Denna’s Mum.
Hervey Bay can be very proud to have five representatives in a Australian team.

FOLLOWING on from last months column, if you are charged with a criminal offence, not only do you have the right to apply for bail, but you also have the right to know the Prosecution’s case against you.
doubt that there is enough evidence to convict you of the charges – this can be to the Magistrate, the Judge or the Jury or on your own plea of guilty.
THE HERVEY Bay
Woodcrafts Club will be celebrating Christmas a little early this year with their annual Xmas sale on Saturday 1st July and Sunday 2nd July.
This club of wood working hobbyists gather at their Torquay shed each week developing their craft in their growing facility that continues to provide some of the best equipment available.
Secretary for the Club, John Lush, speaks proudly of the facility that is expanding again with more space to provide more equipment for the members.
“We are working on new extensions because we need the space, which we are really pleased with the progress of
    the overall facility.”
The facility has all of the equipment needed for wood enthusiasts, including Scroll Saws, Bobbin Sanders, and woodturning machinery that is supported by a Ducted Extractor that provides a very clean and safe environment.
Members bring their own wood or the club accepts donations to help provide a good supply of future masterpieces.
Spokesperson and dedicated “Events Person” for the Club, Jenny Micallef, is very enthusiastic about the annual Christmas sale coming up.
“Our members can come here and make whatever they wish, and they are then kind enough to donate items
towards our sale that then goes towards new equipment and other costs.”
“Not all the wood products are themed with a Xmas feel, and we also have many other great gift ideas for all ages.”
“Pure imagination is part of the creativeness our members give us with some of the most beautifully designed products,” said Mrs Micallef.
The Hervey Bay Woodcrafts Club is located at 187 Bideford Street, Torquay, next to the Hervey Bay Tennis Courts.
The doors open for the Xmas sale from 7am to 1pm on both days Saturday 1st July and Sunday 2nd July with unique craft items and plants also for sale.
It is not your Defence Lawyer’s job to prove your innocence, it is the Prosecution’s job to prove your guilt. This means that the police must collect evidence to support their case, and you have a right to view that evidence and understand their case before deciding how to proceed with the matter. At each stage of the process, you are considered innocent until the Prosecutions have proven beyond a reasonable
In Queensland, when someone is charged with a criminal offence, they are given a date and time to attend Court and a list of the charges that they are appearing in Court for. At the first court attendance (which is also known as a first mention), a summary of the prosecutions case is provided to the defendant. This is known as a QP9. This document summarises the facts that the police say support the charges. This is not evidence.
Once the defendant has received the QP9, they can request the evidence the
police are relying upon to support the facts of the charges outlined in that document. Evidence could be a range of different things ranging from Affidavits of witnesses, to CCTV, to phone records. It all depends on the individual case.
All criminal matters, no matter how serious, begin in the Magistrates Court. Serious indictable offences and matters that are elected to go to a higher court will still begin in Magistrates Court but a brief of evidence is required to be prepared for those charges before the charges are handed up to the higher Court (District or Supreme) – this is called a committal process. The criminal law process can be complicated, and it is individual to each person’s matter. That is why it is important to seek legal advice on your matter early in the process.

The event was organised by Leonie Rickman, Monica Van Bruggan, Annie Bradbury (from Countrymoon Bootscooter’s) and Elaine Hughes (from Hervey Bay Bootscooter’s).
The day began with an afternoon workshop with world acclaimed choreographer Darren Mitchell from Melbourne, followed by an evening of social line dancing. Darren was well received by the
audience with him sharing his expertise. Teaching some fun new choreography made for an entertaining afternoon.
Line dancers came from near and far to attend the workshop and enjoyed a few days in the “Bay” at the same time.
The like minded enthusiastic dancers joined on the dance floor doing what they have a passion for while raising some much needed funds.
“Line dancers in general are extremely supportive, volunteering and raising money for much needed local charities and very worthy local causes”, says one of the organisers Annie Bradbury.
“We raised $3,860 in total and we were able to present the funds raised to Penny
Kilner from the Breast & Prostate Cancer Association and Megan Lynch, the Hervey Bay area breast nurse on the night”, says Annie. Both of them attended the event and Penny Kilner spoke on the areas the funds where needed and how they would help families and people with cancer in the area.
Megan Lynch also spoke and highlighted the growing awareness needed for both breast and prostate cancer. The organisers would like to thank everyone for their support including the TAFE and Hervey Bay RSL for their generous sponsorship. The organisers have already began planning for next year’s event.

HERVEY Bay is producing many future sports stars for the state, if not National level, but that doesn’t stop the “old timers” from still making their mark in sport.
Neil Bradshaw, a hockey player at local club Hervey Bay Brothers, was recently selected to represent Australia in the Men’s Masters Hockey Over 50s team that visited New Zealand.
Neil, well known locally in his role in media as Fraser Coast’s General Manager for Southern Cross Austereo that includes Triple M and Hit 101.9 radio stations, had his first taste of international competition participating in the Oceania Tran-Tasman Masters Hockey

Challenge in Christchurch in early May.

His position as goal keeper is not for the faint hearted and the higher level competition certainly required to recall his youthful reflexes.
The tournament comprised seven women’s age divisions and nine on the men’s side from 35 years plus up to 75 years and over. Each age division played three matches to determine the series winners.
The series comprised three matches against the formidable New Zealand 50 years and over age group team. Our national team triumphed over their rivals with convincing scorelines of 4-1, 7-1, and 2-0, securing an emphatic series
win and claimed the gold medal.
“It was an amazing experience……to stand with your team with the Australian uniform and hear our national anthem is something I’ll never forget”, says Mr Bradshaw. Buoyed by his recent success, Neil now sets his sights on representing Queensland at the upcoming National Titles in Perth, scheduled for September.
This event presents yet another opportunity for him to prove his ability and gain selection for Australia to compete in the World Cup in 2024.

relationships we cultivate. Cherish the time spent with those you care about and foster those connections today. Building and nurturing friendships now will make your retirement transition easier and bring you immense joy and fulfilment in the present.

THE FRASER Coast Property Industry Association will host its next engaging event on Friday June 30th, when they play host to Simon Kuestenmacher, a rising star globally in the field of data management and insight.
As the Co-Founder of The Demographics Group based in Melbourne, Simon is a columnist with The Australian and The New Daily newspapers.
Simon has presented to numerous corporate and industry audiences across Australia and overseas on demographic trends, consumer insights and cultural change in Australia.
Voicing strong opinions about the future of Hervey Bay, including the infrastructure we will need to deal with our unprecedented growth expectations, his strong predictions are backed with data and evidence.
“New businesses, work practices and consumer behaviours will emerge, and local manufacturing will be
prioritised as areas like Hervey Bay forge ahead,” Simon said.
“The experience of working from home delivers a new productivity, lessens commuting, upskills the workforce in self-sufficiency and creates new businesses in technology. When that is coupled with a highly desirable lifestyle location like the Fraser
a-generation property boom across the Fraser Coast, the luncheon will focus on what we need to do as a region to deal with our ongoing attractiveness as a destination.
“This is an extremely rare opportunity to strengthen our regions, and the Fraser Coast is at the very top of this demand. We must get the planning and storytelling right though.”
FCPIA President Glen Winney was excited at the prospect of bringing such a highly credentialed guest to the luncheon series.
Coast, it all bodes well.”
“The largest demographic driver in the decades ahead will be millennials reaching the family formation stage, working from home and demanding larger houses.
Four-bedroom houses are unaffordable in the inner city, and millennials can be encouraged to move to the regions if the case is made in the right way.”

A major sponsorship of $15,000 will enable The Wide Bay Gymnastics Club to take their gymnastics programs to local state primary schools, with thanks to the Hervey Bay RSL Community Grants Program.
This is the second year the gymnastics program has been in place.
President Adam Kirwan thanked the RSL for their continuous support which will enable the coaches to deliver the very best gymnastics program for the students.
“Our coaches go out to schools and assess what type of equipment they have and tandem this with our equipment to deliver a really engaging gymnastics
“There is great desire for gymnastics in our community because it teaches young people fitness and strength, but it is also uniquely placed as both a team and individual sport,” Adam said.
“We cater to gymnasts from the very young all the way to adults.

“With the extensive grants we have received over the last 30 years we have one of the best-equipped clubs in the state.”

TANIA Comerford, a native of the small southern town of Riverton in New Zealand, has lived a fulfilling and vibrant life.
Born fifty-four years ago, she is the eldest of three siblings and cherishes her childhood memories of growing up in a close-knit community surrounded by cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Despite the region’s predominantly cold climate, Tania fondly recalls spending precious time at the beach, making the most of the fleeting New Zealand summers.
“I was very lucky to have one of those wonderful mums that was always present. She’d
have afternoon tea ready when we got off the school bus, and she was always there for a cuddle and a story. I had a very blessed childhood”, said Tania. During her younger years, Tania learnt both ballet and jazz ballet, however, due to her height, she was always cast as the prince in performances, missing out on the opportunity to wear the coveted tutus she had admired. Despite this, Tania’s love for dance persisted until the age of fifteen.
At sixteen, Tania met a boy who was eighteen; his name was Dean. The pair first crossed paths while running a school holiday program at a local campground in New
Zealand.
“We fell in love immediately, even though we lived fourteen hours away from each other.
After ten days, Dean proposed marriage. Though we laughed off the idea of engagement at such a young age, we revisited the topic a year later and decided to tie the knot. We then moved to Christchurch to start our married life together.”
Several years later, driven by Tania’s love for sunshine and blue skies, the couple made the decision to relocate to Queensland, Australia.
With two teenage children in tow, they embarked on a new adventure, settling in Gympie
    thirteen years ago.
Dean assumed the role of a pastor at a local church, while Tania worked in finance at a local school.
Although they made friends and enjoyed their time in Gympie, Tania couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t truly home. Dean resigned from his job after suffering a mental health breakdown, a fact he doesn’t hide.
It was a difficult couple of months which turned around quickly with the TRTP therapy Tania now offers to clients.
During this time, Tania had a vivid dream that would change the course of their lives. In her dream, she saw a two-story

    By Kim Parnell

Queenslander house with rooms for rent and a space for their own residence, complete with a reception area.
Tania shared the dream with Dean, who naturally thought she was nuts.
However, fate intervened when the couple visited Hervey Bay the following day to visit friends.
It had been a decade since their last visit. It was then that they fell in love with the place.
As if destiny was guiding them, they discovered a house that perfectly matched Tania’s dream. Despite being outside their budget, they took a leap of faith, trusted in the miracle, and became proud owners of
Villa Cavour two years ago.
When in her mid-twenties, Tania developed an interest in mental health concepts and healthy relationships.
However, it wasn’t until her forties that Tania decided to pursue her passion.
It took six years of studying part-time, but she believes that if you study what you love, it makes it easier to achieve your dreams.
“I am now a fully qualified counsellor and trauma therapist and have created a wonderful business called Nourish. Mind, Soul, Body. I feel like I am living my best life. It really can’t get much better than this.”
