The Youth Civic Award was given to Ava Smith and her fellow pupils from Saffron Green Primary School in Borehamwood who created artwork displaying messages of hope to the survivors of the Balmoral Drive fire, which were spray painted on the boards outside the flats.

The Dave Rankin Award for community safety was presented posthumously to Simon Winters OBE, who died last year from brain cancer at the age of 62. Over the years, he raised more than £12m in his charitable efforts. Simon was a Community Security Trust volunteer and an award-winning Hertsmere special constable.
