Bishops Stortford High School
Transforming Sixth Form, Library and Staffroom Spaces
Our Sales Manager, Debbie Power collaborated closely with the School Business Manager, Rachel Engel. From teachers and staff to the students themselves, everyone played a role in the design journey.
Students were invited to share their feedback and input. Their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives added a unique dimension to the project, ensuring that the final design would truly resonate with them.
Our designers created detailed 3D plans, bringing designs to life! Together with the school, we explored various options for wood and fabric, ultimately selecting finishes that were not only aesthetically pleasing but also durable and practical.
The new Sixth Form, Library, and Staffroom are now a vibrant centre of activity, learning, and relaxation.
At Herts FullStop, we proudly took the lead on this transformative journey. This project is an example of our commitment to delivering professional, personalised, and inspiring design solutions.
The Sixth Form: A Space to Inspire and Motivate
We wanted to design a space that inspires them to dream big and achieve their goals.
• Modern Study Lounges: We introduced a mix of quiet study zones and relaxed lounge areas. These spaces cater to different study styles, whether students need to focus or discuss ideas with peers.
The Staffroom: A hub for Collaboration and Recharging
• Comfort Zones: We designed cosy seating areas that encourage relaxation and casual conversation. Comfortable armchairs, soft lighting, and a calm colour palette create a soothing atmosphere where teachers can truly unwind.
Library Design Highlights:
• Snug reading areas with comfortable seating and a warm inviting colour scheme, make the library a place where students are eager to immerse themselves.
• Interactive Zones: We introduced flexible study areas to suit group work, solo study, or workshops. Movable furniture and dynamic layouts mean the space can adapt to the needs of the students, it’s a place to collaborate and create!
Working with HFS was a joy. The challenges encountered were calmly resolved and the resulting spaces matched our vision. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality ensured that every aspect aligned with our expectations, creating functional and inspiring environments.

BEAM
Transforming BEAM Café Bar
At the heart of Hertford lies a cultural gem, BEAM. BEAM comprises of a Theatre, Cinema and Community spaces. BEAM, previously Hertford Theatre reopened at the end of August and was closed for a complete revamp. We were honoured to be part of this major project to help remodel its café bar. The vision was clear: create a space that not only serves as a functional café but also embodies the theatre’s rich history and future aspirations.
Debbie Power, our dedicated Sales Manager, headed this project from concept through to reality. The process began with securing the perfect standalone furnishings, to complement the theatre’s remodelled interior.
HFS arranged a visit to the Clerkenwell Design Centre in London, to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to gather inspiration for trending furniture styles and to allow BEAM to communicate their ideas to achieve a more cohesive result.
The chosen furnishings were statements of style and comfort. Dining chairs and coffee tables were strategically selected, to offer visitors a comfortable and inviting environment. Low seating and coffee tables were positioned to provide a perfect vantage point over the scenic river, adding an element of relaxation to the café bar experience.
The new Screen and Kitchen bar are now a cherished part of BEAM, a vibrant space where the community can gather, relax, and enjoy. The new facilities have attracted a diverse audience, from theatre-goers and movie enthusiasts to artists and event organisers. By prioritising inclusivity and versatility, our project team successfully created a dynamic hub that will continue to serve and inspire the community for years to come.
Our Project Manager Debbie Power was supportive and excellent at communication.
The transformation of BEAM Café Bar was an exciting project for HFS, allowing us to blend functionality with style to create a vibrant and welcoming space. By carefully selecting furniture that enhances comfort and atmosphere, we’re proud to have played a key role in shaping a space where the community can connect and enjoy.

Avanti Grange
A brand-new school fit out
Avanti Grange Secondary School opened in 2023 on the top floor of the Avanti Meadows Primary school.
The school is part of the Avanti Trust and is a non-faith, mixed school built on three core principles: educational excellence, character formation and spiritual insight.
Debbie Power, Sales Manager worked with the Head Teacher to kit out the top floor of the Bishop’s Stortford Primary school temporarily until the permanent new site for Avanti Grange Secondary school opened in September 2023. Initially the Secondary school opened to year 7 students and expanded to all ages once the permanent site opened.
The temporary Secondary school included 6 classrooms, a library, first aid room and staff areas. The classrooms are furnished with colour-coordinated furniture such as lockers, storage units, tables and chairs which have been repurposed in the new state of the art site in 2023.
A key part of the brief was ensuring furniture was both movable and practical across the temporary and the new permanent site.
HFS delivered new dining tables and benches to compliment the style of the existing Primary setting. When moving to the new site the school had opted for bistro tables that provided a more mature and modern look.
From supplying the furniture, yoga mats and resources to table tennis tables, our Sales Manager coordinated multiple suppliers to deliver and install before the new school term.
Working with HFS was a fantastic and supportive experience. Being able to purchase ‘off the shelf’ and bespoke products from one supplier simplified the whole process considerably. Our Sales Manager was dedicated and available via email or phone which allowed decisions and alterations to be made quickly with the minimum of hassle. We are delighted with the products and the end result in our new school. We will definitely be using HFS again in the future!

2 Science labs, 1 Food Tech room & 2 classrooms
In the execution of this project, our dedicated Account Manager, Emma Mather, engaged in a collaborative and meticulous process with the Site Manager, Nick Howe, as well as the site team and builders. The primary focus was on facilitating the seamless delivery and installation of furniture for specific spaces within the educational facility.
The project encompassed the provision of furniture for two science labs, one Food Tech room, and two classrooms. Emma's hands-on involvement in the planning and execution phases played a pivotal role in ensuring that the furniture delivery and installation were not only aligned with the project's overall schedule but also tailored to the unique needs and specifications of each designated educational space.
The furniture for the construction project was delivered punctually, aligning seamlessly with the school’s schedule.
Nick Howe, Site Manager was impressed with HFS which has led to subsequent collaborations and furniture orders following the initial project!
Newmarket Academy
Polaris SEN Unit Refurbishment
Polaris, the SEN unit within Newmarket Academy, needed a significant overhaul. The goal was to refurbish two classrooms, modernise the outdoor area and create a new office space. The transformation was set to be an extensive one! With the removal of a small kitchen and the installation of a brand-new one with new ceilings, flooring and a teaching wall.
Our Account Manager, Emma Mather, led the project by liaising closely with Sian Newby, the Headteacher’s PA. Together, we held meetings with the school, provided bespoke plans and designed tailored solutions that would best serve the students and staff.
We had the pleasure of bringing this vision to life. A stunning, modernised learning environment that boasts a brand-new fully equipped kitchen, a fresh outdoor area providing a safe and engaging space for students to enjoy and a sleek new contemporary office space, created to facilitate better administrative functions. The refurbished classrooms now feature state-of-the-art teaching walls, ensuring that teachers have all the resources they need at their fingertips.
The transformation has not only improved the physical spaces but also positively impacted the overall learning experience.
We are really pleased with the refurbished spaces. The space is now bright, open and much more user friendly. Students and staff really enjoy the space and you can see the positive impact it has had on the learning experience. Emma at HFS was brilliant; really helpful and made the process straightforward and enjoyable.

Romans Field School is a Special School in Milton Keynes for children aged 5 to 11. The school has children with SEMH, ASD who follow the National Curriculum and pupils with significant complex needs who follow a bespoke Romans Field curriculum. Part of the Inclusive Learning Federation, the school works alongside two mainstream schools, Bradwell Village and Priory Common.
The school wanted to engage students with vibrant wall art in the library, hallway and Science room. Following the success inside the school, the Head Teacher requested a history timeline of Milton Keynes in the school grounds.
Bedgrove
Junior School
Wall Art £5000 Prize Winner
In October 2023 we ran a competition for schools to tell us how they support eco-initiatives.
The prize was our biggest ever: Wall Art worth up to £5000, a Caring for Environment Product Bundle and a Wildlife Consultation with Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust.
Over 300 schools entered the competition and the winner was Bedgrove Junior School!
The school’s values of Inspire, Challenge and Succeed are central to the children’s learning and experiences at Bedgrove Junior. The environment is at the heart of Bedgrove’s values: to enable children to develop as respectful and caring global citizens contributing positively to the community and wider world.
The brief was to use the 3 walls to show a view of the world now if we continue to disrespect nature; an image of everyone coming together to help nature and an image of animals and nature thriving in the future.
The mural looks amazing. I am really pleased with the look, finish and the amount of colour it brings to the space. It really reflects what we are trying to do.
