At the August 13, 2019 Board of County Commissioners regular meeting, Planning Director Ron Pianta introduced the update to the Hernando County Transit Development Plan (TDP), which is updated every five years, and proposed a plan for the next ten years. The board voted 5-0 to approve the plan, and to submit to the Florida

he band plays their heart out, children dance, partake in games of tag and tumble in the grass. Older couples slow dance, folks walk with their family dog on a leash (or in a stroller if they are of a small and fluffy persuasion.) Building connections and community is at the heart of Brooksville Main Street's monthly Friday Night Live event. The simple joys of life in a small town

are on display every second Friday of the month in downtown Brooksville. Meeting and socializing with your neighbors and fellow community members, supporting mom and pop businesses as well as organizations that help those in need are some of those joys. Residents are thankful for the opportunity to gather with friends and neighbors to socialize, shop, eat and drink.

Department of Transportation (FDOT) no later than September 1, 2019. Top improvements and expansions in the plan for TheBus, including adding Saturday service between 8 AM and 5 PM, and expanding hours of operation during weekdays until 9 PM. Commuter service to Ridge Manor (twice in the morning, twice in the afternoon) is planned for sometime before 2024, as well as securing a major transfer facility. Asela Silva of Tindale Oliver, a transportation planning firm, gave a comprehensive presentation to the board, noting that it is not a budget, Capital Improvement Plan or binding in anyway. Although the changes and improvements brought forth in the plan are expected to result in costs to the county, each item will be brought to the board before implementation for approval, which will consider budget impacts individually. A resident of Timber Pines in Spring Hill, Michele DelVecchio, has come together with friends, family and the Botanical Gardens to create a water curtain for visitors of the gardens to enjoy. A water curtain is a line of closely spaced sprinklers to create a rain like shower. Michele has been working on the water curtain since May of this year. She originally wanted to build a pond but was told that wouldn’t work. She kept thinking of other ideas and thought this would be great. She wanted to include a water feature in her assigned space of the garden in order to draw attention to the spot. Before receiving her own area of the garden, Michele had been tending a friend’s section of the garden for a period of time. Everyone saw what an amazing job she did and how well it was taken care of. They then decided to offer Michele her own spot in the garden where she would later create the water curtain. The water curtain started with her drawing a plan and giving two proposals to the Botanical Gardens. See WATERFALL, Page 20
