any people dream of performing on Broadway, but for Teddy Toye, from Spring Hill, this dream is a

reality. When Teddy was 18 months old, he sang at the Strawberry Festival where he shocked the audience singing “Minnie the Moocher” an old Cab Calloway song and “Great Balls of Fire,” by Jerry Lee Lewis, without missing a word or beat. At two years old Teddy stepped on stage with his father Eddie Toye, a musician, and he quickly fell in love with the musical world. When Teddy reached first grade, his parents took him and his younger sister Amber to Springstead High School to audition for the production “Wizard of Oz.” They needed young kids to play the roles of munchkins. He got a role playing a Lollipop Guild munchkin. This was his very first exposure to the world of theatre and acting. Teddy attended Nature Coast High CONTINUED ON PAGE 20

An summer time adventure awaits at Devil's Den in Williston By ROCCO MAGLIO rocco@hernandosun.com

A little over an hour north of Hernando County in the town of Williston, sits Devil's Den. It is an underground cavern accessible through a narrow stairway that descends to a dive platform. A section of the cavern roof collapsed centuries ago revealing the swimming area. Devil's Den cavern has lights mounted on the walls and significant light streams through the opening. The water is crystal clear allowing you to see the turtles and fish that visit the cavern. The current depth of the water is approximately 50-60 feet. The cavern is referred to as prehistoric because there are bones and other geological evidence that place its age between 10,000 and 75,000 years old. There have been many bones and fossils recovered

At 8:44pm on July 14, 2019 a concerned caller from a Hernando County taxi company related information to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office leading to the tragic recovery of a deceased woman, Viviana Sanchez. Sanchez was reported missing in Pasco County earlier in the afternoon. From the Sheriff’s Office description of the unfolding events, the caller and Sanchez’s family members were able to determine her whereabouts, but unfortunately it was too late by the time law enforcement arrived on scene at the parking lot of Dollar Tree on County Line Rd. Sanchez had called the taxi company that afternoon around 2pm requesting a taxi in 30 minutes to an address on Fieldpoint Way in Spring Hill (Pasco County). Sanchez told the taxi company that if she didn't answer the door when they arrived, they should call the police. Rather than respond to the residence, a representative from the taxi company immediately contacted the Pasco Sheriff's Office. Deputies from the Pasco See HOMICIDE, Page 4

from the dive site by archaeological expeditions. The University of Florida Natural History Museum has the full fossil skeleton of an extinct Florida Cave Bear (Tremarctos Floridanus) which was recovered at Devil's Den. The Florida Cave Bear fossils for Devil's Den have helped scientists to understand postcranial biology of the species. Devil’s Den is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. It has camping, hiking, and swimming in both the cavern and a pool. There are beautiful gardens and clear ponds once used for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba, but is now CONTINUED ON PAGE 13
