A Message from the Board of Directors

Summer has come to an end and the younger generation has returned to school. We hope you and your family were able to take a vacation and enjoy time together.

The Board of Directors met at the Home Office Aug. 9-10.

Extensive time was spent reviewing the Laws and Board of Directors Manual. To put it simply, we needed to dot some “Is” and cross some “Ts.”

During the Board’s first four years we have made some changes to the Laws that will need to be ratified at the Convention in 2022.

Thanks go to the team of President and CEO Eugene Zollinger, Vice President of Operations Samantha Schulmeier, Vice President of Member Benefits Cecily Kelly and legal counsel for all their hard work.

Marketing Manager Letricia Rodriquez gave an update on upcoming marketing campaigns.

Vice President of Information Technology Matt Walker gave an update on the conversion to the new policy administration system.

Vice President of Finance Mary Pruitt gave an in-depth report on the second quarter financial statements, investment summary, other assets and revenue and mortgage loans.

She reported that the Texas Department of Insurance and our outside audit firm have finished their audits.

Vice President of Sales Robin Czarnek reported on production for the first six months of the year.

She noted that sales are trending in the right direction but there is still much work to do.

Membership continues to decline, but is working on new initiatives that she hopes will turn this around.

Vice President of Member Benefits Cecily Kelly reported we had 1,714 campers this year, which is a great turnout because of the cancellation last year and the ongoing pandemic.

The sale of merchandise to campers was a big success. She is already looking for new merchandise for next year.

She also reported we have a new resident at the Home and registration for the Dance Program is open.

A Membership Appreciation Picnic is set for Sept. 18 at Hilltop Camp. All members are invited to attend.

Vice President of Operations Samantha Schulmeier reported on a comparison of death claims over the past four years.

She also reported that, working with Vice President Czarnek, new certificates will be mailed from the Home Office with a notification to the agents that they have been mailed.

Upon receiving the notification, the agents can still contact their clients and make sure they received the policy and talk about other options for insurance for them and their family members.

The Board wishes to thank the vice presidents for their reports and time spent with us. They are always willing to answer our questions and provide information when requested.

The Board continued its meeting with President and CEO Zollinger.

He reported he is working on a contract with a different hotel that will be used when Board and Committee members need to stay overnight.

The Board is happy to see that so many lodges have started meeting again and hosting events.

The community service the lodges are planning and participating in make us who we are today.

Keep up the good work and please let us know if you ever need our help.

We are here to serve you and hope to be able to attend your meetings and events in the future.

Be safe and enjoy your Labor Day outings.
