Poth Lodge members enjoy pork steak meal POTH – Poth Lodge No. 272 met March 6. A moment of silence was observed in memory of Alfred L. Reinhart and Eugene G. Mora Jr. Lucille Novak reported sending a card to Wilford Lowak who was in the hospital last month. If you know of any member who is ill or in the hospital, notify Sister Novak. membership pin recipients during the Christmas party in December. More information will be available as the time draws nearer. Wilford Lowak and Paul Hosek won the door prizes. The names of Marcia Ann Hamilton, Michael A. Pollock and Russell Boening were drawn for the kitty prize but they were not present to claim the money. Everyone enjoyed pork steaks, potato salad, pinto beans and cherry cobbler and then played games. – Reporter

Seguin pioneers receive pins SEGUIN – Eight members of Seguin Lodge No. 37 received their 50-year membership pins during the February meeting. Receiving their pins from Grand Vice PresidentMarketing Tim Kolbe were Michael Kropp, a member since Oct. 15, 1966; Velma Buie, a member since March 10, 1966; Lucille Schwarzlose, a member since July 28, 1966; Mona Ulbricht, a member since Nov. 1, 1966; Lorene Schraub, a member since Oct. 29, 1966; Scott Kolbe, a member since April

21, 1966; Basil Kallies, a member since Nov. 1, 1966; and Lela Mae Fields, a member since July 7, 1966. All of these members are from Seguin. Deputy Russell Koehler spoke to members and guests about the new Texas open carry gun law. Deputy Koehler provided useful information and members asked many questions about the new law. Deputy Koehler informed members that anyone wanting to “open carry” a firearm must receive a license first by

completing a safety course, go through a background check and be 21 years of age or older. A number of other restrictions apply for anyone interested in receiving this license. Two new members, Emery Berling and Austin Colunga, were welcomed into the lodge. Door prize winners were Evelyn Kropp, Krysta Moreno, Arlene Christmas, Basil Kallies, Mona Ulbricht and Lela Mae Fields. – Reporter
