We Strengthen Community
Lodges continue to support hometown projects Hermann Sons Life lodges have continued to strengthen their communities even during the pandemic. “We want to salute the lodges that have made the commitment to serve their communities in ways big and small during these unprecedented times,” Vice President of Members Benefits Cecily Kelly said. These are the projects that have been reported to the Home Office in the past few weeks. Other projects were previously highlighted. Giddings Lodge made two donations recently. A $300 donation (pictured above) was made to the Trail Life Troop.
Since the boys could not go to camp this year, the leaders put together projects for them to do at home. The money will be used to buy supplies. The lodge also made a $300
donation to the Back to School Program at First Assembly of God Church. Gay Hill Lodge donated $500 to the For The City program which is collecting school sup-
plies for children in the Brenham and Burton area. El Campo Lodge donated $300 worth of canned goods, cereal, Gatorade and snacks to the El Campo Middle School food drive. The food was distributed to students living on the outskirts of town during the pandemic distance learning who were unable to participate in the meals provided by the El Campo ISD due to a lack of transportation. Hochheim-Prairie Lodge has made a donation to the Yoakum Police Department in honor of medical personnel and first reSee LODGES, Pg. 8
Camp keeps in touch with fun instruction videos By IAN BRASSETT Executive Camp Director We miss you! Camp is simply not the same without the campers. It’s odd waking up and not thinking about the campers and staff. Not wondering what the evening activity is. Going to the office and working on 2021 and not having a 2020 summer camp season. We are definitely thinking about our campers and cannot wait for the summer of 2021. Believe it or not, plans are being put in place as we speak to ramp up the summer fun in `21. Hopefully by now you will have seen some of the videos we are posting online for your entertainment and enjoyment this summer. Ashlyn “Lucky” Chambers has been working very hard to put together a cool bunch of videos for us to share with you. Check back in every week! Hopefully on Mondays we will be posting a new video/activity for you to try along with one or two songs that Pamela has recorded. The songs Pamela recorded and Lucky has edited will be used in staff training moving forward. First-time campers and new staff will be able check them out before heading to Camp. We’ll also be
posting the prayers said before the meals along with taps. These videos are awesome and I’d like to thank Pamela for taking the time to record them. If you plan on being a Counselors-in-Training, these are great videos to help you learn the songs. See VIDEOS, Pg. 5
