Help raise funds for the Camp Grief Support Session!
Healing Hearts Casino Night
COMFORT – Time is running out to get your tickets for the Healing Hearts Casino Night set for Saturday, May 4, at Hilltop Camp in Comfort. Only 150 tickets will be sold for the event that will raise money for the Grief Support Session at Hermann Sons Life Camp. Members and their guests are invited to come out for a night of food and games in the Hilltop Dining Hall. Cost is only $50 per person.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a steak dinner that includes a salad and baked potato. At 7 p.m. the gaming begins with casino-style Black Jack, roulette and Texas Hold ‘Em poker. Two slot machines also be available. Each ticket holder will receive $1,000 in chips to get them started. More chips will be sold throughout the evening. When the games end at 10
p.m., everyone who still has chips will have a chance to win some awesome prizes. The evening will also include a silent auction and door prizes. A cash bar will be available. Prizes available include jewelry from Kendra Scott and an overnight stay at a bed and breakfast in Fredericksburg as well as gift certificates to businesses in the Comfort area. See CASINO, Pg. 11
Home hosts cook-off More than $5,500 was raised during this year’s Retirement Home Chili and Bean Cook-off in Comfort. The event was held March 9. Proceeds from the event benefit the Retirement Home Scholarship Fund. San Antonio and Dallas made strong showings in the amateur competition. Y.A. Niemietz from San Antonio, pictured stirring his winning entry, finished in first place in the amateur chili competition. Y.A. and his friends from Harmonia Lodge swept the top three spots and placed in the bean competition as well. Ean and Anni Howe from Columbia Lodge in Dallas finished in first place in the amateur showmanship competition. They are pictured performing on the porch just before the awards ceremony.
