For almost 30 years, the polar regions have been at the heart of our travelling formula. Our journey began with a moment of awe in Greenland during the 90s. Standing atop Great Baleen, overlooking vast ice and wilderness, I realized I wanted to share the wonder of the world’s most remote regions with others.
What started with chartered vessels in the Arctic in the mid 90s has evolved into pioneering expeditions aboard two of the most advanced and sustainable ships at sea—Ocean Victory and Ocean Albatros. Yet, our core passion remains unchanged: creating authentic adventures that connect our guests to the raw power of nature and the spirit of exploration.
As a Scandinavian company, we bring Nordic hospitality, environmental care, and exceptional quality to every voyage. Being family-owned means we care deeply about creating a welcoming experience where guests feel at home, forming bonds with fellow explorers and our global team.
At Albatros Expeditions, we don’t just offer trips—we offer the chance to escape the ordinary, explore rarely accessed destinations, and create lifelong memories. Thank you for letting us share this journey with you.

Throughout the expedition, a selection of lectures, screenings and activities will keep your brain engaged and entertained. Of course, on board, we have several bars and a large selection of drinks, featuring wine tasting menus developed in partnership with French wine producer and expert Gerard Bertrand - a leader in producing biodynamic farmed wines.
The Nordic Lounge brings warm Nordic hospitality to the Arctic and Antarctic. Offering a large choice of drinks, including wine-tasting menus from Gerard Bertrand, this is the perfect place to relax after an unforgettable day and make new friends… or like we say in Denmark: Hygge
Our speciality restaurant on Deck 8 features unforgettable views and a unique way of food preparation - on hot lava stones.
What makes a good expedition? It is a combination of its activities and the experiences onboard the ship, as well as ashore. At Albatros Expeditions, we are honored to have a variety of experts in our expedition team, from climatologists and geologists to renowned photographers, all eager to share their adventures and knowledge with our guests.
Celebrate the dream polar adventure, engage in conversation and relax while admiring the icy landscape of the polar regions. At our Nordic Observation Lounge, we aim to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere with varied cocktails and drinks, appetizers and small events.
Honoring the great explorers, the Library allows for an adventure within an adventure. Here you can find sagas, narratives and practical information on the polar regions, in various languages and subjects. From encyclopedias of the polar wildlife and fauna to narrations of the many challenges faced by the first expeditions, this is the perfect location for expanding your mind while we sail.
ENRICH YOUR EXPEDITION WITH SPACIOUS OBSERVATION AREAS
The Ocean Victory and Albatros vessels prioritize the ultimate expedition encounter through well-located observation decks. These decks afford extensive, unimpeded spaces that guarantee the finest vantage points for witnessing polar landscapes.
Our ships redefine the expedition journey with swift zodiac embarkation procedures and exceptional observation zones, inclusive of distinctive hydraulic platforms and ample observation deck expanse. Guests are invited to relish the breathtaking Deck 9 viewing platform along with forward-positioned hydraulic observation platforms.
These features seamlessly bring our guests into closer proximity to the grandeur of unspoiled nature by providing enhanced, more intimate, and wholly unobstructed panoramas of icebergs, avian life, and marine giants, allowing them to immerse themselves in the splendor of untouched wilderness. The combination of zero-speed stabilizers, dynamic positioning (“virtual anchoring”), and 5 zodiac loading platforms mean that our guests can be in their zodiacs faster than any other ship of comparable size. Not only will guests have more time to enjoy exploring off the ship, but also we can react faster to unexpected wildlife encounters.
“The next infinity class vessels delivered from a series of newbuilds, offer a one-of-a-kind and complete immersive experience. Technologically advanced, with a unique design and beautiful European interiors, these vessels remain true to what Expedition Cruising should be all about.”
- Søren Rasmussen, Founder & Owner, Albatros Expeditions
“The main restaurant on both Ocean Victory and Ocean Albatros provides a delightful blend of à la carte and buffet choices. Additionally, both ships boast a top-deck Panorama Restaurant, where guests can enjoy a delicious and exciting tasting experience with meals cooked directly at their table on hot lava rocks.”
- Cæcilie Willumsgaard, Board Member of Albatros Expeditions
OUR CAREFULLY DESIGNED MENU IS CURATED FOR THE BEST DINING EXPERIENCE, WITH A FOCUS ON FRESHNESS AND DIVERSITY.
Onboard Ocean Victory and Ocean Albatros, you will find kitchen professionals and chefs who take great pride in creating gastronomic experiences, satisfying your tastebuds. When the first explorers began their undertakings, they had little choice and even less variety in their nourishment options in their diet. Dining at the some of the remotest parts of the world was not a delicacy, but a duty necessary for survival. Luckily for us, today is another story. Meals are served in our bright and spacious restaurants, surrounded by wonderful views.
Dinner always starts with delicious hot soups, cold cuts and crisp, fresh salads. Several choices of entrées are offered each evening. To accommodate different tastes and dietary requirements, guests can choose from a selection of meat, fish and vegetarian options.
After dinner, freshly prepared desserts, including ship-made ice cream or cakes… A great way to end a meal and satisfy any sweet tooth!
We are a Scandinavian-born, family-owned tour operator with a global wingspan. Our company was established in 1986 by Søren Rasmussen, who is chairman today and his wife and children all work in the company’s management team. As a young biologist with an appetite for exploring the world, Søren travelled to Africa and was utterly captivated by the fantastic wildlife, spectacular scenery and unique cultural environment.
When Søren went to Svalbard in the Arctic region for the first time in 1995, he was completely taken with it. This resulted in extensive travelling and exploration of the polar regions, eventually leading to the acquisition of several hotels in Greenland and a bus company under the brand Albatros Arctic Circle. Søren also invested in top-of-theline cruise ships suitable for polar exploration. In 2017, Albatros Expeditions was established to handle our cruise operations to these regions.
Albatros Travel Group prioritizes sustainability and accountability, focusing on nature protection and responsible travel since the 1990s. Our goal is to create a positive impact in local regions, gaining goodwill from communities while making a meaningful difference. Some of our projects include:
- KARM MARG runs an orphanage in Faridabad for 60 children, emphasizing self-reliance. Older children, along with local women, produce environmentally friendly products. Albatros supports Karm Marg by purchasing fabric bags for our guests in India, who can also donate their leftover rupees.
- WELVERDIEND is a nearby village where many employees of our safari camps come from. We train them in hotel services and support local schools with books and technology, even building a new school with a library and computer room.
- Animal welfare is crucial to Albatros. We engage in nature conservation projects, ensuring our travels avoid activities that exploit wild animals. Currently, we focus on protecting endangered rhinoceros through monitoring and patrolling, and we helped establish the first rhino orphanage.
