New Athletics Director: Michael Horstman
New Athletics Director: Michael Horstman
The Athletics Department and facilities look much different this year, with new faculty and upgrades to the gym lobby, weight room, and practice fields. One of the faculty changes is the promotion of Michael Horstman as Athletics Director. Michael has been the HCS Associate Athletics Director for the past four years. He previously worked as an Athletics Director at Christel House Academy and at Fall Creek Academy.
As Athletics Director, Michael will take on more responsibility in decisionmaking and networking with other schools. He will also continue to coach JV girls soccer and assist the varsity team.
“Playing soccer from a young age and in college, it was hard to step away from the game,” said Michael. “Coaching has allowed me to stay connected and it gives me an opportunity to disciple student-athletes.”
Michael is an Indianapolis native, having played soccer and baseball at Plainfield High School. He played collegiate soccer at St. Joseph’s University then transferred to Purdue University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Society. Michael continued his studies at Indiana Wesleyan, completing both his Master of Education in School Administration and his Teacher Certification.
Michael loves the mission of Heritage and is excited about the future of Heritage athletics.
“The number of student-athletes continues to grow, which allows more teams and more students an opportunity to experience our mission of glorifying God not only in the classroom but on a field, course, or court as well.”
