An introduction to our collection of French illustrated books of the Romantic era which comprises 600 works in c. 1.000 volumes. It contains almost always the finest and most perfect copies of these books, with all the characteristics of excellence in illustration, printing, paper and binding. The collection includes more than 1,650 original drawings or watercolors by all the leading artists of the period (Grandville, Gavarni, Daumier, Gigoux, Johannot, Doré, etc., etc.), no less than 111 editions printed on China paper, the rarest and most valuable of all. More than 85 copies were illuminated or colored at the time of publication, 95% are in immaculate publisher's or master bindings.
