About Us

Herc-U-Lift was founded in 1968 by Les Nielsen and Gene Ellingson, life-long friends from Euclid, Minneosta, 20 miles east of Grand Forks, ND.

The two men started their forklift company near the Twin Cities, in Maple Plain, MN, in a small leased building with two employees.

Today the company headquarters at its 75,000 square-foot Maple Plain facility, and operates 7 branch locations in St. Cloud, Grand Rapids, Fargo, Williston, Minot, Sioux Falls and Des Moines.

We specialize in forklifts, construction and aerial equipment as well as rail car movers and warehouse racking supplies.

Our dedicated, experienced, and highly trained staff are qualified to keep your equipment in top working order.

Training Herc-U-Lift understands the OSHA requirements and certification training needed to properly operate lift equipment. We have specialized training courses for a variety of equipment as well as recertification courses.

Our intention is to make your operation the most efficient and safest possible.

Classroom Training Traditional classroom training is available to teach not only workplace safety but includes hands-on training on how to properly operate equipment. Classes can be held at our facilities, or we can train your personnel on-site.

Online Classroom Training We offer flexibility to your operation by having your operators learn online, at their own pace.

After which, operators schedule the required hands-on driving assesment at either a Herc-ULift location or at your workplace.
