Airbus There’s a new shape in the sky as the next-generation BelugaXL begins regular operations in facilitating Airbus’ production ramp-up across the company’s commercial aircraft programmes.
The initial BelugaXL – featuring a livery with distinctive whale-type smile – was delivered for operation in December, and it entered service earlier this month. Ultimately, six of the highly modified twin-engine A330 airliners will operate from 11 destinations in Europe, providing Airbus with additional transport capacity as these oversize cargo airlifters gradually replace the five Beluga ST prececessors – which are derived from the company’s cornerstone A300 aircraft. All Beluga operations are managed by Airbus Transport International (ATI), an Airbus subsidiary. According to Philippe Sabo, ATI’s Head of Oversize Air Transport, the BelugaXL’s service entry represents a step-change in the way aircraft components are transported across Europe. “With 30% more capacity than the existing Beluga ST, it really will help us to better support the production ramp-up for A350 XWBs and the single-aisle A320 Family,” explained Sabo. “And its high-speed cargo loading system means we can significantly reduce turnaround times – something which is key to achieving our targets.” Enhancing Airbus’ production network The BelugaXL’s greater size enables the new-generation airlifter to accommodate a set of A350 XWB wings, for example, speeding up their transport from the Broughton, UK production site to the programme's final assembly line in Toulouse. “We are really impressed with the aircraft,” Sabo added. “The way it behaves is fantastic and I particularly like the livery – it feels like the aircraft is looking at me when I’m close to it!” ATI will operate a combined ST/XL fleet until mid-2023 as the remaining five BelugaXLs enter service. Airbus’ programme, customer support, engineering and ATI teams will work together in supporting the start of operations and subsequent rampup, with a second BelugaXL to be delivered in mid-2020, followed by a third in early 2021. Air transport is Airbus’ primary method for moving large aircraft components across its European production network – including sites in France, Germany, Spain and the UK – which is complemented by the company’s use of road, rail and sea.

(NYSE:TXT) company, announced today new equipment enhancements across its current inproduction commercial aircraft during Helicopter Association International’s annual Heli-Expo in Anaheim, California. “Bell is committed to incorporating the latest technologies into our products to further improve the performance, cost of operations and support the lifecycle of aircraft,” said Susan Griffin, executive vice president, Commercial Business. “Ensuring we have the newest developments on board is core to our business and we are proud to offer newly certified solutions this year across our current product line. The following enhancements are available for new commercial aircraft and retrofittable across legacy commercial aircraft. See them on display at Bell’s booth (#1231). Bell 505 Jet Ranger X: The Bell 505 delivers unmatched cost of operation and is the most mission adaptable aircraft in the short light single market. As a testament to the Bell 505’s mission versatility, the aircraft is currently performing corporate, helicopter emergency services, public safety, tourism and electronic news gathering across 50 countries worldwide. The Garmin G1000H NXi Flight Deck is now standard equipment for 2020 production aircraft or available for retrofit on existing Bell 505s, delivering enhanced situational awareness and reduced pilot workload. Bell 407GXi: Following FAA certification for single-pilot Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Bell Autopilot - 3rd Axis, the Bell 407GXi's new IFR capability allows all-weather operations while continuing to provide multi-mission capabilities reliably and effectively. The Bell 407GXi offers the lowest direct operating costs of any IFR-capable helicopter on the market today. As innovators and a leader in smart, digital vertical-lift aircraft, Bell is the first OEM to certify a Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) for a light single-engine aircraft. Additionally, the Precise Flight Pulselite® system will now be included as standard equipment on all new Bell 407GXi aircraft. When enabled, the Pulselite® system alternately pulses the landing and taxi lights to enhance the visibility of the aircraft to traffic and birds. The Pulselite® system has a direct impact on reducing the number of bird strikes and is available by Bell as an aftermarket installation. Bell 429 and Bell SUBARU 412EPX: All Bell Subaru Bell 412EPX and Bell 429 aircraft now feature the second-generation BasilXPro avionic suites produced by Astronautics. The new Avionics come with several enhancements, most notably being nearly three pounds lighter per display unit, lower power consumption, expanded route mapping with five levels of declutter and a two-second power-up time. A new executive interior option is also available for the Bell 429 and will be displayed at Bell’s booth during Heli-Expo. Bell’s executive interior options offers a new contemporary color scheme, including leather and carpeted cabin space options. This is also the first time the Bell Subaru 412EPX will be on display in North America since the aircraft was unveiled at Farnborough Air Show in 2018. The Bell Subaru 412 EPX benefits from a more robust main rotor gearbox dry run capability, increased internal Maximum Gross Weight to 12,200 lbs. and mast torque output of +11% at speeds below 60 knots. Bell 525 Relentless: The first production-representative Bell 525, fitted with an oil-andgas interior will make its first Heli-Expo debut. The Bell 525 has made significant strides in flight test activity, completing major development testing requirements. The program is transitioning to certification flight testing. The Bell 525 delivers a generational leap forward with fly-by-wire which greatly increases safety through reduced pilot workload and enhanced situational awareness. The Bell 525 is powered by two 1,800-shp GE Aviation GE CT7-2F1 engines which received FAA type certification in Fall 2019.

Saab started assembly production on January 10, 2020 of its section of the T-7A aircraft, the advanced trainer developed and produced together with Boeing for the United States Air Force. Saab is responsible for the development and production of the aft fuselage section for the advanced trainer, with seven aft units being produced in Linköping, Sweden for final assembly at Boeing’s U.S. facility in St. Louis, Missouri. “In little over a year since we signed the EMD contract, we are starting production of our part of the T-7A jet. This achievement is possible due to the great collaboration between Saab and Boeing, and it is an honour to be part of this programme for the United States Air Force,” says Jonas Hjelm, head of Saab business area Aeronautics. The work is being performed in Linkoping, Sweden, after which future production of Saab’s part for the T-7A will be moved to our new U.S. site in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Saab facility in West Lafayette is an important part of Saab’s growth strategy in the United States, creating strong organic capabilities for the development, manufacturing and sales of its products. Boeing is the designated prime contractor for the T-7A advanced pilot training system acquisition by the U.S. Air Force. Saab and Boeing developed the aircraft with Saab as a risk-sharing partner. Germany’s new Heavy Lift Helicopter Today, Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company (NYSE: LMT), and Rheinmetall representing the German industry team, submitted the bid for the production and operation of the Sikorsky CH-53K ("King Stallion") as the Bundeswehr's new heavy-lift transport helicopter for its "Schwerer Transporthubschrauber" (STH) program. “Our entire team is pleased to offer the CH-53K, the most efficient, capable and intelligent helicopter that will deliver the best long-term value to the Bundeswehr through the 21st century,” said Beth Parcella, Sikorsky International Business Development Director. Sikorsky and Rheinmetall formed a STH project team of more than 10 German companies, which includes MTU Aero Engines, Autoflug GmbH and Hydro Systems KG. The team will benefit from a significant workshare and a high degree of technological cooperation and will offer Germany an excellent reliability in maintaining and using this platform. Parcella stressed that it was important "to build a strong German industrial team early on and to capitalize on the know-how of the German teammates for the STH project." This will ensure the quality of the offer and subsequently the high availability of the CH53K in the German Air Force, she said. Mike Schmidt, Managing Director of Rheinmetall Aviation Services GmbH: "German companies will play a significant role in the success of the CH-53K program. For the industry, this means the creation of many new, long-term jobs for highly qualified employees and an important transfer of know-how," he said. In addition to the core team, other companies in the German defense industry would ultimately benefit from the procurement project. "Sikorsky and Rheinmetall prepared the application together over a long period of time - this has strengthened the bonds within our team. We have developed into a highly effective unit," Schmidt added. Looking at lifecycle costs, mission requirements and capability, the CH-53K will deliver better long-term value than its competitor. Its avionics and digitized flight control systems are designed to accommodate future software upgrades, and its internal payload capability may be increased substantially in the future with relatively simple modifications. An integrated sensor system enables the aircraft to predict and prevent problems at an early stage and thus drastically reducing the maintenance effort, which is a key element for high availability rates of the fleet. Additionally, the CH-53K is equipped with air-to-air refueling fully interoperable with Lockheed Martin's KC-130J tanker aircraft, which the Bundeswehr is planning to operate, and which is already being used by France. Recognizing that the DoD has performance demands that far exceed the capabilities of the commercial world in terms of speed, fidelity, capacity, and precision, DARPA created the Technologies for Mixed mode Ultra Scaled Integrated Circuits (T-MUSIC) program to enable disruptive radio frequency (RF) mixed-mode technologies by developing high performance RF analog electronics integrated with advanced digital electronics on the same wafer. The next-generation capabilities that could be made possible with this program include a combination of wide spectral coverage, high resolution, large dynamic range, and high information processing bandwidth. These capabilities, which can cut through the electronic signal clutter, provide leap-forward performance that is mission critical as services rely on electronic sensors in highly congested environments. The new developments could be integrated into electronic warfare, communications, precision munitions, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platforms. "T-MUSIC will incorporate analog and digital signals on a single chip for highperformance data converters and digital processing and intelligence," said Chris Rappa, product line director for Radio Frequency, Electronic Warfare, and Advanced Electronics at BAE Systems' FAST Labs. "The advanced electronics we are developing under the T-MUSIC program could create the foundation for greatly enhanced Department of Defense capabilities in advanced RF sensors and high capacity communications." New system will fuse dozens of data sources for the military Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) will help the U.S. Air Force modernize its missile warning architecture with a new system that will collect and fuse data from an array of sensors to provide a comprehensive picture of launch activity under a 5-year, $197 million contract. To help with this mission, Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services has developed a completely open framework — which the Air Force calls the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) Mission Data Processing Application Framework (MDPAF) — that will be capable of processing Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) satellite data from both the U.S. Air Force's evolving Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) constellation and the future Next Gen OPIR constellation, as well as be capable of processing data from other civil and environmental sensors. "The U.S. government's global satellite network produces a constant flood of data — petabytes and petabytes of it every day," said Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon IIS. This is a significant departure from previous satellite ground control programs. Typically, companies would develop a system that collects and exploits data from specific types of satellites or sensors. FORGE changes this model as it's able to collect data from nearly any type of satellite or sensor, and then helps operators make sense of that data quickly. "Essentially, this is a smartphone model," said Wajsgras. "We've built an operating system that everyone can build applications for – from Raytheon to the Air Force to universities to small companies. These applications allow the system to process specific types of data." One of the key benefits of incorporating new applications is that the system can be used beyond its intended mission. For example, an application could be built that would allow civil agencies to use the same satellite data to help detect forest fires, volcanic activity, agricultural changes, even surges in electric power consumption. Further departing from the traditional ground control development model, Raytheon built the prototype system in less than a year and it's capable of processing real data today. The company leveraged development work on several past programs, especially its Advanced Weather Integrated Processing System, to design the framework. Raytheon also incorporated its deep experience developing applications using DevSecOps and Agile software development processes to dramatically speed development. Raytheon will work with the Air Force over the upcoming years to further evolve and prove the framework's capabilities.

Rheinmetall Automotive to supply pumps for electric vehicles The Automotive arm of the high-tech Rheinmetall Group has won a major 8-year order from a well-known international automaker to supply pumps for electric vehicles. Rheinmetall Automotive will be supplying two versions of its electric water recirculation pump via its Chinese joint venture Pierburg Huayu Pump Technology Co., Ltd. The total lifetime value of the order amounts to €130 million; full-scale series production is scheduled to commence in 2020. For Rheinmetall, the order marks another major success in the field of electromobility. In the meantime, the lifetime contract volume of all Automotive orders relating to emobility comes to around a billion euros. The electric pumps will be manufactured at the joint venture’s plant in Shanghai. They will be used in various battery-powered electric vehicles made by the globally operating OEM, which are destined for China and the wider Asian market. Development of the components took place at the Pierburg plant in Hartha in the German State of Saxony. Pierburg GmbH is a subsidiary of Rheinmetall Automotive. Rheinmetall Automotive’s electrically commutated water recirculation pump can be used in conventionally powered, hybrid and all-electric vehicles. România a atras 3 miliarde euro de pe piețele externe la cele mai scăzute costuri istorice Ministerul Finanţelor Publice http://www.mfinante.gov.ro/acasa.html;jsessionid=V48bVlo9PZONe8qc50fvxwZarYU PJMNadgI3Cq-u.www1:server15?method=detalii&id=999642140 Emisiunea de euroobligațiuni lansată săptămâna trecută de Ministerul Finanțelor Publice s-a bucurat de un interes record din partea investitorilor, România reușind o serie de performanțe care i-au consolidat, astfel, poziția de emitent sofisticat pe piețele externe: o atragerea celui mai mare volum de finanțare într-o singură tranzacție cu primă de emisiune negativă; o cea mai mare cerere înregistrată vreodată la o emisiune din partea investitorilor înainte de stabilirea costului final al emisiunii (cu ordine de peste 12 miliarde de euro); la închiderea emisiunii nivelul cererii s-a situat de asemenea la un nivel record, de 9,6 miliarde euro, emisiunea fiind supra subscrisă in final de peste 3 ori, cu o participare din partea unui număr de peste 500 de investitori; o cea mai mare reducere a costului față de nivelul inițial lansat în piață, de 30 puncte de bază; o randamentul de 2,025% pentru tranșa de 12 ani este cel mai scăzut randament obținut vreodată de România; o prin randamentele titlurilor de stat lansate in ianuarie 2020 s-a realizat o economie de cca. 16,6 mil. Euro pentru emisiunea cu maturitatea de 12 ani si 4,4 mil. Euro pentru emisiunea cu maturitatea de 30 ani. "Deși ne confruntăm cu o serie de provocări economice și politice, emisiunea reprezintă o performanță deosebită a Ministerului Finanțelor Publice și confirmă, încă o dată, încrederea investitorilor în coerența politicilor actualului Guvern de asigurare a stabilității fiscale și bugetare. Acest test al investitorilor este un semn foarte bun pentru un Guvern tânăr, instalat de numai două luni", a declarat Florin Cîțu, ministrul Finanțelor Publice. Fondurile aferente emisiunii de euroobligațiuni lansate de MFP pe piețele externe în data 21 ianuarie, în valoare totală de 3 miliarde euro, au fost încasate marți, 28 ianuarie. Emisiunea a fost realizată în doua tranșe, din care o 1,4 miliarde euro cu maturitatea de 12 ani, cu un randament de 2,025% și o dobândă de 2,000% pe an o 1,6 miliarde euro cu maturitatea de 30 ani, cu un randament de 3,391% și o dobândă de 3,375% pe an. Tranzacția a fost intermediată de către BNP Paribas, Citigroup Global Markets Limited, Raiffeisen Bank Internațional AG, Societe Generale și Unicredit Bank AG. Baza investițională a tranzacției a fost deosebit de diversificată din punct de vedere geografic, iar din punct de vedere al tipurilor de investitori, pentru ambele tranșe se distinge preponderenta investitorilor de tipul “real money”, respectiv fonduri administrate privat. De remarcat că tranșa cu maturitatea cea mai lungă, pe termen de 30 de ani, a fost acoperită în proporție de peste 75% de marii investitori activi pe piețele internaționale de capital - SUA, Germania și Marea Britanie.

Strategia de execuție a emisiunii a permis reducerea graduală a costurilor, pe fondul unei supra subscrieri masive pentru cele două tranșe. Față de valorile cu care au fost lansate inițial în piață cele două tranșe, de 210 puncte de bază peste cotația de referință Mid-Swap pentru maturitatea de 12 ani și de 315 puncte de bază peste cotația de referință Mid-Swap pentru maturitatea de 30 ani, costurile au fost reduse cu 30 puncte de bază, obținându-se în final pentru prima data prime de emisiune negative importante pentru cele două tranșe de cca 5 - 10 puncte de bază. Astfel România a emis obligațiuni la cel mai scăzut cost aferent unui împrumut al statului pentru maturitatea de 12 ani. Tranzacția face parte din planul de finanțare de pe piețele externe aferent anului 2020, în conformitate cu OUG nr. 64/2007 privind datoria publică. Potrivit Programului indicativ de emisiuni de titluri de stat aferent anului 2020, publicat pe site-ul Ministerului Finanțelor Publice, valoarea sumelor planificate a fi atrase în anul 2020 de pe piețele externe prin emisiuni de euroobligațiuni, operațiuni de răscumpărare anticipată și preschimbare parțială a unor serii de euroobligațiuni existente, plasamente private și prin trageri din împrumuturi contractate de la instituții financiare internaționale, este estimată la un nivel de până la 6 miliarde de Euro.

The bonds were acquired by 200 investment funds from 31 countries. Ukrainian Finance Minister Oksana Markarova says the State Treasury Service has already received funds from the latest issue of ten-year eurobonds worth EUR 1.25 billion. According to Markarova, 200 investment funds from 31 countries have acquired the Ukrainian ten-year eurobonds. In particular, among the buyers are funds that manage assets (account for 85%), hedge funds (7%), pension and insurance funds (6%), and banks (2%). At the same time, the share of investors from the United Kingdom is 42%, those from the U.S. account for 34%, from the European Union member states for 19%, and from Asian countries and the Middle East for 5%. Markarova says the investment base during the eurobonds placement has expanded significantly, as among buyers there are both global investment funds with an excellent reputation, and small pension and insurance funds, mainly from the EU countries. As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine placed ten-year eurobonds worth EUR 1.25 billion with a record low yield rate set at 4.375% per annum. The payment was scheduled for January 27, 2020. The funds to be received will be channeled into the national budget. Earlier, eurobonds worth EUR 1 billion were issued in June 2019 with a seven-year maturity period and a yield of 6.75% per annum. Conform fostului președinte, Traian Băsescu, România e bine să fie admirată din avion, elicopter, nicidecum de pe drumurile patriei, nereabilitate și aglomerate peste măsură. Ceva dreptate avea, întrucât România are 16 aeroporturi, în anul 2018 peste 21.870.939 de pasageri utilizând infrastructura respectivă, marea majoritate fiind atribuită aeroportului Henri Coandă, cu peste 13.820.428 de pasageri.
Cu toate acestea, în anul 2018, din cele 16, cinci au funcționat fără profit (Suceava, Oradea, Satu Mare, Târgu Mureș, Arad), iar cel din Constanța a înregistrat o pierdere de 581.707 lei. Mai mult, statul român a acordat un ajutor în valoare de 62.979 mii lei, în perioada 2019 – 2020, pentru aeroporturile care nu au mai mult de 200.000 de pasageri anual, în conformitate cu Ordinul nr. 1259 din 5 martie 2019 emis de Ministerul Dezvoltării Regionale și AdministrațieiPublice.

Se remarcă, în registru negativ, aeroportul din Constanța, care deși are o pierdere de 581.707 lei în 2018, plătește salarii pentru 266 de angajați, în condițiile în care, până în 2020, a primit și un ajutor de stat în valoare de 58.549.000 lei, în conformitate cu Ordinul nr. 1110 din 19.06.2018 al Ministerului Transporturilor. Deși, ca număr de pasageri, Constanța se situează pe locul 10, cu 129.235 pasageri într-un an, numărul salariaților clasează aeroportul Mihail Kogălniceanu pe locul 3, după București și Cluj, cu 1447 și, respectiv, 331 angajați. Până la urmă de ce cheltuim atâția bani de la bugetul de stat, precum și din bugetele locale cu susținerea aeroporturilor nerentabile, în loc să dirijăm aceste fonduri pentru dezvoltarea infrastructurii între aeroporturile rentabile? Un caz tipic de risipă a banilor publici îl constituie aeroportul din Arad, care în anul 2013 a primit un ajutor financiar în valoare de 3583,31 mii lei pentru transformarea terminalului de cargo în terminal de Pagină 44 din 65
pasageri cu o capacitate de procesare a 500 de persoane pe oră. Rezultatul, din anul 2016, aeroportul e folosit doar pentru curse charter între aprilie și octombrie, reușind să adune doar un pic peste 11000 de pasageri, departe de cifra de 200.000 necesară eliminării ajutorului de stat. Ținem cont că toate aeroporturile din România se suprapun pe o rază de 100 km, cu excepția Craiovei, deci ai putea, în condițiile unei infrastructuri civilizate, să ajungi la oricare dintre ele în maximum o oră de mers cu mașina sau trenul. Sunt aeroporturi care au maximum o cursă pe zi sau chiar niciuna, dar noi investim în continuare în dezvoltarea acestora. Ultimul exemplu este cel de la Brașov, unde s-au investit deja peste 50 milioane de euro de către Consiliul Județean, proiect care folosește și decizionalilor locali care speră la un nou mandat, dar care exagerează mult beneficiile economice (lăsăm la o parte mândria locală) pe care le-ar putea aduce aeroportul respectiv. Super zonă turistică, care ar avea nevoie de un aeroport, zic conducătorii județului, dar care nu țin cont de faptul că peste 90% din turiști provin din țara noastră și nu ar lua un avion pentru a ajunge la poalele Tâmpei. Gândiți-vă cum e să stai două ore în aeroport, înainte de îmbarcare pentru un zbor de 20 de minute, de oriunde ai lua avionul… Total ineficient, iar turiși străini sunt maximum 10 % din total. Super zonă turistică este și Delta Dunării, dar știți câți pasageri a avut aeroportul din Tulcea în 2018? Doar 158, nu, nu e o greșeală, 158 de pasageri a căror gestionare nu are cum să acopere cheltuielile cu întreținerea acestuia, chiar dacă societatea a declarat profit în 2018. Astfel, sunt bune șanse ca aeroportul din Ghimbav să aibă o soartă similară cu a celor din Castellon sau Huesca, aeroporturi închise din lipsă de pasageri. Și acolo se vorbea de turiști care vor veni pentru a schia în munții Pirinei.. Plus că va fi nevoie, pentru drumul către aeroport, de investiții suplimentare, poduri peste calea ferată, expropieri pentru prieteni politici, probabil s.a.m.d…. și totul în condițiile în care există un aeroport la doar 145 Pagină 45 din 65
de km, respectiv cel din Sibiu, Sibiul și care, oricum, nu are prea mare activitate (maximum 5 curse pe zi). Concluzia ar fi că ar trebui să ne cam oprim din a susține investiții care doar gâdilă orgoliul local fără beneficii reale pentru comunitate și de asemenea, poate, ar trebui să gândim o strategie pentru asocierea dintre aeroporturi, cum s-a încercat între Cluj și Târgu Mureș, o sugestie și pentru Arad și Timișoara. Conform Ordinului nr. 1259/2019 din 5 martie 2019 al Ministerului Dezvoltării Regionale și Administrației Publice, consumăm peste 13 milioane de euro pentru a menține structuri neviabile (aeroporturi nerentabile), fiind necesare sume suplimentare pentru drumul către aeroportul din Ghimbav, și asta în condițiile în care cele mai mari aeroporturi de la noi nu beneficiază de măsuri de securitate la nivelul celor din America de Nord și Europa Occidentală. Deși în toată Europa vestică au fost înregistrate riscuri la adresa securității zborurilor ca urmare a atacurilor cu drone (cel mai cunoscut caz fiind cel de pe Heathrow), la noi Autoritatea Aeronautică Civilă nu dă semne că ar fi interesată de reglementarea acestei probleme (obligarea dotării aeroporturilor cu sisteme antidronă similare cu cele folosite în restul țărilor civilizate).

Kopter’s SH09, a new single engine helicopter, is a perfect fit for Leonardo’s state of the art product range offering opportunities for future technological developments. The Sudanese army announced the reorganization of the defence industry groups to adhere to the goals of the December revolution and to achieve greater transparency in its various activities. The Military Industry Corporation which is part of the defence ministry was established in1993 to increase the fighting capabilities of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and localization of the military industry. In a statement released on Monday, Amer Mohamed al-Hassan SAF spokesman for the armed forces announced that MIC’s restructuring is consistent with the goals of the Sudanese revolution aiming to reshape the national institutions. Al-Hassan stressed that the comprehensive restructuring of the military industry was based on the requirements and strategy of the next stage as well as the role of the corporation to supporting the national economy and youth employment. "The restructuring process of the defence industries is based on two basic elements: harmony and symmetry between the components of the military industry in addition to strengthening supervision and structuring of these components." The MIC’s activity includes the production of weapons, including tanks, ammunition, vehicles, electronic industries, communications equipment, aviation, air and marine defence. Also, the corporation has several five industrial complexes.

Florida is known for its sun soaked beaches, vacation and spring break hot spots, and of course, its retirement communities. The state is also among the most strategically important states for the U.S. Armed Forces, with installations from Pensacola to Jacksonville and down to Key West. Every business in Florida is within 100 miles of a military installation, while the defense sector itself brings billions of dollars in economic activity to the state. This month Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the results of the 2020 Florida Military and Defense Economic Impact Study, which found that industries grew by $10 billion and added more than 100,000 jobs since 2017. The study, which was commissioned by Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI) and the Florida Defense Support Task Pagină 49 din 65
Force (FDSTF) highlighted that the defense sector provides 914,787 jobs in the “Sunshine State,” while it also boasts the second-largest military retiree population and third-largest veteran population in the nation. Florida is currently home to more than 1.6 million veterans and military retirees. The report highlighted the fact that federal dollars associated with supporting each of these components added up to nearly $44 billion in direct defense spending in 2018. “The results of this study demonstrate that maintaining and protecting military bases and industry in Florida is a win-win for both Florida and the United States,” said Governor DeSantis via a statement. “Florida offers unmatched conditions for training air and sea forces with access to some of the highest quality test and training ranges in the country. Florida’s military and defense industry has never been more vital to the economic success of our state.” This 5th bi-annual update of the study measured the total economic impact associated with defense-related spending flowing into the Florida economy. This update utilized consistent econometric forecasting models and defense-related spending flows to compare the performance of the defense industry every two years. STATE OF DEFENSE IN FLORIDA Florida receives the fourth-largest sum of defense contracts, while it ranks fifth in the country in number of active duty military personnel. There are now 60,155 active duty service members as well as approximately 30,000 civilians working across the states’ military installations. Private sector defense contracts performed in the state supported just over 73,000 contractors. Wages in the military and defense industry pay significantly higher than the statewide average. Currently, the average earnings per military job in the state is more than $77,000, making military and defense one of the most high-wage employers. The state received nearly $44 billion in direct defense spending in 2018; while salaries brought an additional $7.6 billion (17%) to Florida; and procurement spending brought an additional $17.5 billion (40%), which is up by $3.5 billion from 2016. The report highlighted that defense manufacturing has doubled since 2015, and this growth shows no signs of slowing down in 2020. Just this week the United States Navy awarded aerospace company Leonardo with a $176 million firm-fixed price contract to replace its TH-57B/C Sea helicopters. The company, which is headquartered in Philadelphia, will be the anchor tenant and first client to Santa Rosa County’s Whiting Aviation Park where it will build a 100,000square-foot manufacturing facility. “(This) announcement is great news for Florida,” said Jamal Sowell, Florida Secretary of Commerce and Enterprise Florida President & CEO. “Enterprise Florida and the Florida Defense Support Task Force will continue to maintain Florida’s reputation as the most military-friendly state in the nation by strengthening our state’s support for military members and their families and ensuring our bases remain resilient.” SPACE TO GROW Given its long history with both manned and unmanned space flight, Florida could also be well-positioned to play a significant role in the nation’s up-and-coming Space Force. Puteți să ne faceți o prezentare a dvs.? Din punct de vedere profesional, bineînțeles. Păi la 18 ani… deci, pe cartea mea de muncă, începutul e în 1986… Am terminat liceul agricol veterinar din Alexandria. Pe vremea aia se făcea meserie, că aveam fermă didactică… tehnicienii veterinari dimineața erau la școală, după amiază erau la clinica veterinară…. așa se făcea pe vremea aia. Când veneau studenții de la București, în practică, se discuta de la egal la egal. Și, după liceu, m-am dus și m-am angajat, că am avut repartiție, la Avicola Alexandria. După aia am plecat în armată, m-am întors din armată șef de fermă… Târziu, am dat la facultate, am avut și norocul că în anul III, pe vremea aceea, acuma nu știu dacă se mai practică, nu cred că se mai face așa, puteai să faci două facultăți în același timp. După anul III, dădeai niște diferențe… În 95 am intrat în cercetare. Pe embriotransfer. Fecundări în vitro, biotehnologii de gradul I-IV, deci de la însămânțările artificiale până la embriotransfer. În 1996 se discuta de clone și de celule stem. Lucram pe celule stem în 1996, aveam niște lucrări științifice… Iar lucrarea mea de licență studia transplantul de ficat, de la porc la om. La nivelul ăsta se discuta atunci. Și aveam un proiect, pe fonduri de la Banca Mondială … Intenționam să creăm, ca o sursă de transplat de organe, o fermă de porci transgenici… pentru că porcul este cel mai apropiat din punct de vedere anatomo fiziologic cu omul. Există foarte multe proteze prelevate de la porc… de la os, cartilagii, valve mitrale… și multe altele. Cum nu mă căsătorisem încă, eram toată ziua eram prin laboratoare.. am vreo 30 de lucrări științifice publicate… Am lucrat și pe fisuri osoase… o mulțime de lucruri interesante. Nu știu dacă oamenii își mai aduc aminte de Edwin Robertson… (specialist în embriotransfer la vacă) și primii embrioni din SUA… Era Heifers Project, Proiectul Juninca, prin intermediul căruia noi aduceam embrioni, încercând să creăm o rețea de întrajutorare între fermieri. Domnul dr. Petru de la Pantelimon știe că acolo s-a făcut primul embriotransfer. Am fost și pe la Târgu Mureș, în 2003-2004… Pot spune că am adus embrioni… ca să-i evaluez, așa, cam la vreo 400 000 de euro. Și i-am răspândit peste tot în țară, unde s-a putut. Abia după anul 2004-2005 tinerii medici veterinari au început să învețe. Noi atunci sprijineam tineri medici absolvenți să-și facă cabinetele, aduceam instrumentar, consumabile, cu condiția ca pentru pensionari să nu perceapă taxe. Doream să ajutăm vârstnicii, încercând să creăm microferme pe lângă căminele de bătrâni, ca să le asigurăm câte Herald Insights recomandă interviurile din Vocea Românului. Aflați direct opiniile unor personalități din viața publică. Interviuri fără întreruperi, fără interpretări, fără scoateri din context. un pahar cu lapte… Pentru cei singuri. A fost o perioadă frumoasă în care eu m-am pregătit pe partea asta de reproducție, infertilitate, lucram și la Periș, atât pe probleme de infertilitate la scroafe, stimulări hormonale la scrofițe, poliovulație la scroafe și la vacă. Eram implicat printr-o fundație veterinară creștină. În rest, de două ori pe săptămână, prestam pe la vreo trei facultăți, predam anatomie, fiziologie, embriologie, biologie celulară, depinde ce se cerea, pentru că fiind la catedra de anatomie comparată de la facultatea de medicină veterinară, te duceai și predai unde era cererea. Te duceai la Facultatea de Biotehnologie, anul III, unde erau biotehnologii medical veterinare, te duceai la anul I, la Zootehnie, te duceai la Colegiul de animale mici, pentru biologie celulară, sau predai la anul II, biologie celulară, cu alt profesor de la medicină veterniară, cu Crânganu Dan. El mai preda și farmacologie pe vremea aia… Am predat și pe la Bioterra, la poliția sanitar veterinară, unde am avut mari surprize, se confunda ficatul cu plămânul, dar ei aveau mari pretenții să devină viitorii inspectori sanitari veterinari și le-am spus: oameni buni, eu nu pot să vă trec clasa, tu mâine poimâine vei da amendă în Piața Obor și îmi confunzi, nu zic ficatul de câine cu ăla de miel, dar tu confunzi ficatul cu plămânul. În octombie 2003 am fost preluat de o multinațională, mi-am depus și eu CV-ul, că deja nu mai puteam, predam la multe facultăți, făceam naveta la Periș, trebuia să-mi fac și eu o familie… Pe vremea aceea salariile erau, dacă vă amintiți, în 1997, când a crescut dolarul foarte mult și a fost o inflație imensă… se trăia greu, deci salariul îmi ajungea prima săptămână din lună. Atunci a trebuit să plec la o multinațională. Intrase în România pe relația cu fermierii și m-am ”plimbat” prin toată România, Transilvania Moldova și Țara Românească, să auditez ferme, să le agreez, să fac o educație a femierilor, ce înseamnă igiena laptelui… Contractam lapte pentru compania asta, înființam centre de colectare, verificam periodic dacă respectă normele de igienă, testam zilnic reziduurile de antibiotice, făceam analize la furaj pe microtoxine, pe metale grele, deci încă din 2003… Acum văd că a adevenit mai populară chestia asta… Să știți că și corporațiile astea au avut un rol în agricultura românească, au educat fermierul, nu numai cele de procesare lapte cât și cele care sunt pe cultura mare. Deci know-how-ul cu care au venit corporațiile din Europa Occidentală a fost foarte bun, degeaba aruncăm noi cu pietre, dar.. Noi nu prea am știut să ne spălăm pe mâini, asta a fost marea problemă pe care încă o văd în România, că nu respectăm normele de igienă. Și fac o paranteză aici. Chiar am cerut în Comisia de agricultură, pentru că eu sunt și într-un grup de lucru la Comisia de agricultură, unde trebuie să venim să schimbăm puțin mentalitatea. Adică eu nu sunt de acord cu fermierii care se plâng… privatul care se plânge la politic. Eu am o altă variantă: dacă am o problemă, eu trebuie să o prezint politicului și am tot respectul pentru Parlament, cu Guvernul am unele rețineri, dar parlamentarii sunt cei aleși. Cei aleși au tot respectul meu, cei numiți trebuie să dovedească pentru ce au fost numiți. Deci dacă am o problemă, problema mea trebuie să o prezint politicului cu trei soluții și o recomandare. Eu așa am fost învățat în privat, ca manager… După corporația aceea de origine franceză, am lucrat la o altă companie internațională franceză, și până la urmă am ajuns la una evreiască din Israel, unde am lucrat șase ani și acolo mi-am sedimentat cunoștințele… acolo m-am maturizat.
