Today‘s Airbus Defence & Space can trace its corporate heritage back to roughly the same point as its parent company‘s creation as a commercial aerospace entity, when Germany‘s Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm (MBB) was formed in 1969.

A European desire to advance collaborative defence programmes saw MBB take its place within an industrial grouping responsible for the development and production of a new Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MRCA). The result of that effort – also involving Italy‘s Alenia and the UK‘s then-BAC – was the variable-geometry Panavia Tornado, a technological marvel of its age, combining the supersonic speed and terrainfollowing capability needed to support nuclear strike missions with pilot-friendly handling performance at low speed. Airbus Helicopters and the Hungarian Government have selected the town of Gyula in the Békés County as the site for a new aerospace enterprise in Hungary.

Gyula is located in the country‘s eastern part.

The new installation will be built up from scratch and will be the core of an emerging Hungarian aeronautics cluster.

This was announced in Budapest by Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, and Gáspár Maróth, Government Commissioner for national defence industry and defence development and coordination of armament modernization.

End of 2018, Airbus Helicopters and Hungary had signed a Memorandum of Agreement to create an industrial cooperation for long term aviation projects.

The purpose of the plant is to manufacture

ATI Industrial Automation’s QC-11 automatic tool changer (ATC) is a vital component of many robotic applications and is now certified to work seamlessly with collaborative robots from Universal Robots, joining more than 150 products in the

UR+ portfolio featuring plug-and-play solutions for UR cobots that help users get up and running quickly.

The QC-11 enables automatic exchange of robotic end-effectors without any manual intervention. With an ATI ATC, a robot can use multiple end-effectors in a single process. Preceding the QC-11 in the UR+ program are ATI‘s Axia80 force/torque sensor and MC-10 manual tool changer.

The QC-11 is the first automated tool changer developed in the Americas to obtain UR+ certification. It was featured last week at ATI Industrial Automation‘s Automation Expo held at the company‘s recently expanded and renovated headquarters in Apex, North Carolina. The Expo was a unique opportunity for attendees to see this tool changer in action, witnessing its extremely high strength-to-weight ratio. When coupled, the master and tool weigh less than 0.25kg (0.55 lb), with a combined stack height of 52.4mm (2.06"). The small footprint of the robust QC-11 helps to optimize the robot payload and work envelope while supporting the maximum UR payload of 10kg (22 lb).

ATI‘s patented, pneumatically actuated, fail-safe, locking mechanism provides strong, repeatable coupling under the rigors of industrial use. It also ensures that the tooling remains securely attached to the robot – even during a loss of air pressure. The QC11 features six integrated M5 pneumatic pass-through ports. It allows for an optional, accessory mounted, M8 connector for up to eight pass-thru electrical pin connections. Users can incorporate a compatible pin-and-bushing tool stand for storage of the additional end-of-arm tools as well.

In 2018, China was the second largest partner for EU exports of goods (11% of total extra-EU exports) and largest for EU imports of goods (20% of total extra-EU imports).

During the period 2008 to 2018, the EU had a trade in goods deficit (meaning larger imports than exports) with China, which varied between €130 billion and €190 billion. In 2018 the trade deficit stood at €185 billion.

For both EU exports and imports of goods with the China, 'machinery and vehicles', 'chemicals' and 'other manufactured goods' dominate. Together these manufactured goods accounted for 84% of EU exports of goods to China and 97% of EU imports of goods from China.

Among the Member States, the Netherlands was the largest importer of goods (€85 billion) from China and Germany was the largest exporter of goods (€94 billion) to China in 2018.

FLIGHT PLAN FOR THE FUTURE OF PLAN DE ZBOR PENTRU VIITORUL EUROPEAN AERONAUTICS AERONAUTICII EUROPENE Bucharest hosts between May 27th – 30th the European Aeronautics Days (Aerodays), the leading continental event in aviation research and innovation, organized for the first time under a synergic concept that brings together resources from Romania and Germany for a comprehensive perspective over the strategic developments in aeronautics and air transport across the European Union.

Almost three decades after the launch of Aerodays, the 8th edition of the event is organized under the innovative concept TandemAEROdays19.20 that features two integrated events hosted by Romania, this year, and Germany, in 2020. Supported by the European Commission within its current Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020, the two events are hosted and organized by the National Institute for Aerospace Research ―Elie Carafoli‖ (INCAS) and by the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI), on the Romanian side, and by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI).

Under the headline ―Europe‘s Technological Achievements for a Sustainable Future of Aviation‖, the first of these two events brings together in

Bucureștiul găzduiește între 27 și 30 mai Zilele Aeronauticii Europene (Aerodays), evenimentul continental de referință pentru efortul de cercetare și inovare în domeniul aviației, organizat în premieră în cadrul unui concept integrat care reunește resurse din România și Germania pentru a oferi o perspectivă cuprinzătoare asupra evoluțiilor strategice în aeronautică și transport aerian din Uniunea Europeană.

După aproape trei decenii de la lansarea evenimentului Aerodays, a 8-a ediție are la bază conceptul inovator TandemAEROdays19.20 care promovează două evenimente integrate găzduite de România, anul acesta și de Germania, în 2020. Sprijinite de Comisia Europeană în cadrul actualului Program Cadru pentru Cercetare și Inovare Orizont 2020, cele două evenimente sunt găzduite și organizate Institutul Național de Cercetare-Dezvoltare Aerospațială „Elie Carafoli‖ (INCAS) și de Unitatea Executivă pentru Finanțarea Învățământului Superior, a Cercetării, Dezvoltării și Inovării (UEFISCDI), din partea României, și de Centrul Aerospațial German (DLR) și Asociația Germană a Industriilor Aerospațiale (BDLI).

Sub sloganul „Realizările tehnologice ale Europei pentru un viitor sustenabil în aviație‖, primul dintre aceste două evenimente aduce la București reprezentanți de seamă ai comunității aerospațiale din mediul academic, de

Complementing the conference sessions, Aerodays 2019 also features an exhibition that includes several Romanian companies and research entities – many of them making their first appearance at an Aerodays exhibition –, and major international corporations and organizations.

While framing the current achievements and the long-term perspectives of aviation in Europe, Bucharest Aerodays 2019 also celebrates the 50-year anniversary of the maiden flight of Concorde and of the Russian aircraft Tu-144, the world-renowned supersonic airliners.

Building on Concorde‘s remarkable achievement as the result of transnational collaboration, the event accentuates the need to pursue more vigorously European research projects that ensure a solid leadership and expertise within the global advancements in aeronautics.

As the first Aerodays host in Central and Eastern Europe, Romania represents the appropriate collaborative environment suited to welcome world major aerospace entities, like United States‘ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment, Russia‘s Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI), the Canadian Aerospace Research Centre, thus joining the European Union and other relevant EU aerospace entities in the effort to identify and pursue major trends that shape the future of aeronautics.

In this respect, Bucharest Aerodays 2019 approaches in its seven plenary sessions topics that bring context and depth to the latest developments in

cercetare și cel industrial pentru trei zile de sesiuni plenare și tehnice specializate susținute la Palatul Parlamentului. În plus de sesiunile conferinței, Aerodays 2019 include și o expoziție care cuprinde companii și entități de cercetare din România – multe dintre ele prezente pentru prima dată în cadrul unei expoziții Aerodays – alături de corporații și organizații internaționale de elită.

Pornind de la prezentarea realizărilor actuale și de la perspectivele pe termen lung pentru aviația europeană, Aerodays 2019 București sărbătorește de asemenea aniversarea a 50 de ani de la primul zbor al aeronavei Concorde și al aeronavei rusești TU-144, renumitele avioane supersonice de pasageri. Având ca referință rezultatul remarcabil al colaborării transnaționale pentru dezvoltarea Concorde, evenimentul subliniază nevoia încurajării viguroase a proiectelor europene de cercetare care să asigure o poziție de avangardă și expertiza necesară în dinamica globală a aeronauticii.

Găzduind pentru prima dată un eveniment Aerodays în Europa Centrală și de Est, România asigură un mediu oportun pentru a aduce împreună reprezentanți ai marilor entități aerospațiale din lume, precum Administrația Națională pentru Aeronautică și Spațiu (NASA) din Statele Unite ale Americii, Autoritatea Aeronautică Chineză, Institutul de Aerohidrodinamică (TsAGI) din Federația Rusă, Centrul Canadian de Cercetare Aerospațială, care se alătură astfel Uniunii Europene și altor organisme din UE în efortul de a identifica și a urmări marile tendințe care conturează viitorul aeronauticii. În această privință, Aerodays 2019 București abordează în cele șapte sesiuni plenare aspecte care oferă context și consistență celor mai recente evoluții din aeronautică: Adecvarea la nevoile de mobilitate ale cetățenilor europeni: sistemul aerian de transport al secolului

aeronautics: Meeting European Citizens‘ mobility needs: the air transport system for the 21st century; Industrial competitiveness; Education, work force and research infrastructures; Addressing aviation‘s environmental and climate impact; Fostering international cooperation; Ensuring safety and security; Disruptive ―game changers‖.

Meanwhile the parallel sessions of the conference target detailed aspects related to innovations in specific domains (aerodynamic and propulsion technologies, manufacturing, integrated aircraft design, air traffic services and airport operations), highlight various opportunities (in digitalization, big datadriven applications, electrification, sustainable alternative fuels and energy carriers), and reveal new approaches in operational safety and security, solutions that address the certification challenges for integrated products, but also map the emerging trends in cybersecurity and urban air mobility.

Based on the innovative concept TandemAEROdays19.20 that assumes for Romania and Germany distinct roles as regional and continental leaders in the development of aeronautics, the event organized in Bucharest focuses on specific issues, like the different infrastructure context in Central and Eastern Europe as the base to develop customized short-range transport solutions, small aircraft and dedicated airport, thus enabling regional development. Furthermore, Bucharest Aerodays 2019 encourages Eastern European entities involved in aerospace education, research and production to take full advantage of the opportunities fueled by the enlargement of the EU, highlighting the fact that the twin Aerodays events reflect the Romanian and German mandate at the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Pe baza conceptului inovator TandemAEROdays19.20 care alocă României și Germaniei roluri distincte de lider regional și, respectiv, continental în dezvoltarea aeronauticii, evenimentul organizat la București se concentrează pe repere specifice, precum contextul diferit al infrastructurii din Europa Centrală și de Est, ca bază de plecare pentru dezvoltarea unor soluții adecvate de transport pe distanțe scurte, cu aeronave de mici dimensiuni și aeroporturi dedicate, încurajând astfel dezvoltarea regională.

Mai mult, Aerodays 2019 București încurajează entitățile din Europa de Est implicate în educație, cercetare și producție aerospațială să fructifice oportunitățile generate de extinderea Uniunii Europene, ceea ce evidențiază faptul că cele două evenimente sinergice Aerodays reflectă mandatele României și Germaniei la președinția rotativă a Consiliului Uniunii Europene. In pragmatic terms, Bucharest Aerodays 2019 adopts a bottom-up research approach and focuses on medium-level TRL (Technology Readiness Level), while the event scheduled to take place in May 2020 in Germany – complementing the International Air Show ILA 2020 and the Berlin Aviation Summit – intends to apply a top-down approach and to charge high-scale strategic and political topics aligned with international trends and developments, promoting also matured results and solutions. In practical terms, both events aim at providing a full-scale TRL map of projects with potential impact on the future of aeronautics.

More than ever, the 8th edition of Aerodays pushes for an integrated European effort from synchronized educational programs to common research initiatives and joint industrial projects, in order to take full advantage of the enlargement of the European Union, energizing local, regional and continental resources. At the same time, for the Romanian aerospace research community and especially for its industrial network, Bucharest Aerodays 2019 serves not only as a platform to reaffirm its historical contributions to the world of aeronautics, but also offers the opportunity to promote its current achievements and potential within the European joint effort to provide sustainable, efficient and competitive solutions that respond to the needs and expectations of its citizens.

București își asumă o abordare care pornește de la cercetarea de bază și se concentrează pe niveluri medii de maturitate tehnologică, în timp ce evenimentul programat în luna mai 2020 în Germania – care se va desfășura pe fundalul expoziției International Air Show ILA 2020 și conferinței Berlin Aviation Summit – își propune să adopte o abordare la un nivel amplu care să urmărească aspecte strategice și politice sincronizate cu tendințele și evoluțiile internaționale, promovând în același timp rezultate și soluții deja validate. Practic, ambele evenimente alcătuiesc o hartă completă a nivelurilor de maturitate tehnologică pentru proiecte cu impact asupra viitorului aeronauticii.

Mai mult decât oricând, a 8-a ediție Aerodays promovează un efort european integrat, de la programe educaționale sincronizate până la inițiative de cercetare și proiecte industriale comune, astfel încât să fie pusă în valoare acoperirea Uniunii Europene, mobilizând resurse locale, regionale și continentale. Cuvânt de deschidere Doamnelor şi domnilor, bună dimineaţa, Suntem în cea de-a doua zi a lucrărilor celei de-a XXVII-a ediţii a Simpozionului de istorie şi civilizaţie „Cristian Popişteanu‖. Ieri, alături de distinşii noştri invitaţi, am prezentat pe larg bilanţul istoriografic al tezaurului României evacuat la Moscova.

Astăzi mă voi opri asupra unei întrebări: Există cazuri similare cu cel al tezaurului BNR evacuat la Moscova? şi voi face referire la mai multe cazuri în care tezaure naţionale din diferite ţări europene au fost evacuate în perioada celui de-al Doilea Război Mondial.

Vom beneficia și de răspunsul participanților la dezbaterea intitulată Studiu de caz – Sárospatak, care va fi moderată de către domnul Cristian Păunescu. Avem alături de noi și doi oaspeți din Ungaria: pe domnul Áron Kovács și pe doamna Éva Kusnyir.

Domnul Áron Kovács este curatorul Colecției manuscrise a Colegiului Reformat Calvin din Sárospatak și este un om al celor două culturi, maghiară și română, deoarece a studiat istoria la Universitatea din Szeged, dar și-a susținut doctoratul în istorie conceptuală la Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara. În cadrul dezbaterii de astăzi ne va vorbi despre manuscrisele rare din Colecția Colegiului Reformat Calvin din Sárospatak după Al Doilea Război Mondial.

Aurul Imperiului ţarist În 1915, rezerva de aur a Rusiei, de la Petrograd, a fost evacuată la Kazan, de teamă că oraşul ar fi putut fi ocupat de trupele Puterilor Centrale. Acolo a ajuns şi aurul păstrat în sucursalele băncii centrale a Rusiei din Moscova, Samara şi Tambov.

În vara lui 1918, mai mult de jumătate din rezerva de aur a Rusiei era în subsolurile Băncii de Stat din Kazan. Bolşevicii au reuşit să mute în zonele controlate de ei mai puţin de 2% din această rezervă, înainte de cucerirea oraşului de către „albi‖.

La începutul lunii august 1918, oraşul Kazan a fost ocupat de unităţi ale Legiunii Cehoslovace, constituită din foştii prizonieri de origine cehă din armata austroungară, şi din unităţi ale „albilor―. Aurul a fost dus la Omsk şi apoi a ajuns să fie cunoscut drept „aurul lui Kolceak―, unul dintre generalii care luptau contra puterii bolşevice. Valoarea lui a fost evaluată la circa 630 milioane ruble.

După înfrângerea lui Kolceak, cea mai mare parte a rezervei de aur, în valoare de circa 400 milioane de ruble, a ajuns în mâinile bolşevicilor, fiind dus înapoi la Kazan.

Soarta restului rezervei, în valoare de peste 230 milioane ruble, a rămas neclară. S-a afirmat fie că l-au furat cehoslovacii, fie japonezii care luptau contra trupelor bolşevice în Extremul Orient.

Pe acest subiect s-au scris romane şi s-au turnat filme. Unele informaţii indică faptul că aurul ar fi fost folosit pentru a garanta unele împrumuturi făcute de emigranţii albgardişti. Dar atunci când sovieticii au ocupat Praga, în 1945, şi au avut acces la documente ale emigraţiei ruse, nu au descoperit nimic concret.

Un cercetător rus, Oleg Budnitskii, a publicat în 2008, la Moscova, rezultatele cercetărilor sale în arhive occidentale. El preciza că soarta acestui aur este greu de reconstituit şi pentru că cei care au operat cu el nu au fost foarte dornici să lase evidenţe clare asupra operaţiunilor efectuate. Potrivit lui Budnitskii, emigraţia albă ar fi scos din Rusia o cantitate echivalentă cu 195 milioane, din aurul în valoare de peste 230 milioane de ruble. Cea mai mare parte a aurului scos din Rusia de către emigraţia albă ar fi fost depusă în bănci japoneze, britanice şi americane. Restul se pare că a fost folosit ca garanţie pentru împrumuturi. Tot din acest aur, s-ar fi garantat un credit pentru cumpărarea de armament din S.U.A. În final, o parte a aurului ar fi fost vândută pentru a acoperi împrumuturile.

Ultima tranzacţie cunoscută datează din primăvara anului 1921, când se pare că ceea ce mai rămăsese din aurul luat de emigraţia albă a fost vândut către o bancă japoneză, pentru 500.000 dolari. Banii erau destinaţi unui guvern care ar fi putut să vină la putere în Rusia după căderea bolşevicilor. Ca să ferească aceşti bani de creditorii care vânau orice sumă, au fost investiţi în acţiuni emise de o bancă engleză cu capital rusesc, capital provenit de la antreprenori ruşi, ajunşi în emigraţie după 1917.

Diplomaţii ruşi, care au format Consiliul foştilor ambasadori ai Rusiei ţariste de la Paris, s-au ocupat de administrarea a ceea ce rămăsese din „aurul lui Kolceak―.

Resursele s-au diminuat treptat, dar au ajuns până în anii ‘50. Oleg Budnitskii le-a putut trasa urmele până la moartea ultimului membru al Consiliului, Maklakov, în 1957.
