SPEAKERS Dr Anthony Mak

BDS, Grad.Dip.Clin.Dent (Oral Implants) General Dentist Dr Mak is one of Australia’s most sought after speaker, especially in the field of digital and restorative dentistry. He has lectured extensively in Australia, New Zealand and across Asia; where his hands-on workshops have gained significant popularity. Anthony’s interest lies in dental technologies, advances in materials and techniques; and he has a unique understanding of CAD-CAM digital dentistry. He has published numerous case studies and articles for local and international dental bodies and associations.

Dr Raahib Dudhia

BDSc (HONS I) DClinDent (DMFR) MRACDS (DMFR) Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist Dr Raahib Dudhia is the discipline lead of the DMFR training program at The University of Queensland and has worked in specialist practice for over 12 years, reviewing x-rays, CBCT, CT and MRI scans of the oral and maxillofacial regions. His experience includes reporting for large private radiology practices alongside head and neck radiologists, but he also enjoys working more closely with dental practitioners and specialists helping them provide the highest level of patient care. As a tech lover, Raahib loves to explore new imaging hardware and software and has experience with many of the CBCT machines currently available. He especially enjoys imaging for endodontics and is passionate about low-dose CBCT imaging techniques.

Dr Bobby Patel

BDS,MFDS RCS (ED) MClinDent (ENDO) (Dist) MRD RCS (ENG) MRACDS (ENDO) Specialist Endodontist Bobby completed his three-year full time MClinDent program at the Eastman Dental Institute in the UK and was presented with academic distinction for his efforts. In 2007, He was awarded membership in restorative dentistry, the highest formal qualification in the UK. In 2015/16 he authored two well received endodontic textbooks with Springer Publishing Company in Germany. Bobby is a key opinion leader for Coltene, Dentsply Sirona and Henry Schein Halas and a certified trainer, regularly giving lectures/hands on courses to general dentists both locally and nationally.

Dr Kasen Somana

BSc Hons (Melb) BDS Hons (Syd) MS (Lond) General Dentist Dr Somana has been in private practice for almost 20 years and has been interested in digital practice for over a decade. He is globally 1 of only 15 clinicians endorsed by and is in collaboration with 3Shape to help develop TRIOS Design Studio. In addition to being the clinical director of CADD, Dr Somana is the principal dentist of Signature Dentistry in Toorak. His practice has a special interest in conservative digital aesthetic fixed prosthodontics and occlusal rehabilitation.

CBCT guided endodontics represents a paradigm shift in endodontic treatment in the modern era. CBCT is a valuable tool in overcoming the limitations of conventional 2D radiography for diagnosis and predictable management of both non-surgical and surgical endodontic problems. Lecture highlights use of CBCT in managing endodontic cases including justification, indications and limitations.

The use of digital technology in the field of implantology has allowed for optimised treatment planning, guided and accurate implant placement as well as the simplification of the fabrication of implant retained prosthesis. The goal of this presentation is to describe the workflow involved in this modality of implant treatment and also to provide, via cases and illustrations, tips, tricks and pointers to further optimise this established and proven protocol.

The Key Steps to getting started with Inhouse Digital Dentistry: Dr Kasen Somana

The journey from conventional/analog to digital dentistry can be confusing, expensive and arduous. Now with digital practice coming into the mainstream, more practices are either looking at purchasing intra-oral scanners or if they already have one are looking to do more. Dr Somana will walk you through his journey into digital practice and share with you the key steps to successfully adopting intra-oral scanning and beyond.

The evolution of digital technologies in dentistry has paved the way for the development of simplified and predictable protocols in field of restorative dentistry. One such innovation that is changing the face of restorative dentistry is in the use of Printed Provisional Restorations in the field of conventional fixed prosthodontics and in implant dentistry.

The goal of this presentation is to illustrate both the utilisation of 3-D printing technology in the provisionalisation of fixed prosthodontic and full arch implant cases and how the use of this new technology improves and enhances our workflows in complex restorative dentistry.

Workshop 1 – Implant Planning with 3Shape Implant Studio ( Limit x 10 people )

3Shapes Implant Studio is well known as a powerful tool for predictable Implant planning, In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to try this software firsthand under the guidance of 3Shape trainer Richard Schuhmacher. Richard will show how 3Shape Implant Studio is now on the 3Shape Unite platform and utilize the new case handling and flexibility of the media library. At the same time, the new version of Implant Studio brings many improvements resulting in a smoother and more responsive workflow.

Workshop 2 - CBCT Interrogation in Endodontics - Dr Bobby Patel (Endeavour Room)

Using clinical cases workshop will demonstrate how to correctly optimise CBCT imaging to help diagnose endodontic clinical problems and correctly interpret the radiological signs. Will also discuss how to report radiological findings in a structured manner as part of your contemporaneous records.
