Henry County Parks and Recreation ended 2023 by winning Agency of the Year at the Georgia Recreation and Park Association State Conference. We competed against much larger agencies like Cobb County and the City of Atlanta, but that did not stop us from achieving our goal. We are the standard for parks and recreation in Georgia because we keep one thing in mind above all else: YOU. Our commitment to the people of Henry County drives us to offer the best because you deserve no less. As we approach the beginning of 2024, our 50th anniversary year, our goals have only grown. We will begin the construction of the Henry County Aquatics Center and Water Park and the New Mt. Carmel Multigenerational Recreation Center while finalizing the Comprehensive Parks Master Plan. This will help set a new trajectory for our department, a trajectory in which your needs and desires are at the center of everything we do. Further in this guide, you will see a QR code taking you to a survey where you can share those needs and desires. We want to hear from you and continue to elevate all we do!

The park received extensive renovations which included: - A complete overhaul of the existing football field including a new irrigation system, bleachers, sports field lighting, fencing and goalposts - A new, two-story building featuring a concession area, restrooms, equipment storage and an upstairs area for scorekeepers that overlooks the field - Two new full-sized basketball courts featuring perimeter fencing and player benches - New lighted walking paths - Large, open grassed area and a colorful new playground Mickie D. Cochran Park is located at 301 Banks Road in Stockbridge.
