Summer Activity Guide 2025

Vision: To be the foundation for a vibrant, innovative, connected and exceptional community!

JULY IS

NRPA’S PARK AND RECREATION MONTH

LEADERSHIP CORNER

Leisure & Public Services

We’re kicking off this summer with the exciting grand opening of the North Mt. Carmel Recreation Center - a cutting-edge facility designed with our community in mind. This impressive new space features two full-sized basketball courts, a modern fitness center, a dedicated creative studio, and the largest Parks and Recreation e-gaming room south of Atlanta.

While North Mt. Carmel has everything you’d expect from a toptier recreation center, it also brings brand-new opportunities to our residents. The e-gaming room will host esports tournaments for all ages, giving local teens a chance to explore the growing world of competitive gaming and the millions available in college scholarships. When not in tournament mode, the space transforms into a digital resource center - providing computers and support for job seekers, virtual interviews, resume building, and academic needs.

The center’s creative space is another standout feature, complete with a 3-D printer, laser cutter, and Cricut tool. Guided by talented art instructors, participants can explore a range of artistic media from watercolors to ceramics - all within a thoughtfully designed studio built to inspire imagination and creativity.

We invite you to visit and tour the new facility - we’re proud of what we’ve created for the residents of Henry County, and we’d love to show you around. Our team will also share details on all the exciting programs and events coming your way.

This summer, we have something for everyone - from our awardwinning Summer Camp Program to the 2nd Annual Hot Summer Fest and Fireworks Celebration at Atlanta Motor Speedway. We’ll close out the season in style with our much-anticipated Summer Concert- a community favorite!

Join us and make the most of your summer with the best Parks and Recreation Department in the nation.
