LEADERSHIP CORNER

Jonathon “J.P.” Penn Director of Parks and Recreation

As the seasons begin to change, so do the opportunities to connect, grow, and play with Henry County Parks & Recreation. While we say goodbye to another memorable summer, we are incredibly grateful for the experiences we shared with our community and excited for everything that awaits this fall. This summer marked a historic milestone with the opening of the Henry County Aquatic Center and Kensley Grace Waterpark, together known as Swim Henry. For years, our community dreamed of having a premier aquatic destination right here in Henry County, and seeing families fill the pools, children gain confidence in the water, friends make lasting memories, and visitors experience this incredible amenity has been truly rewarding. The overwhelming support and excitement surrounding Swim Henry reminds us just how important quality parks and recreation experiences are to our community. Although the outdoor Kensley Grace Waterpark closes for the season after Labor Day, the fun doesn’t stop there. The Henry County Aquatic Center remains open year-round, offering swim lessons, fitness and wellness programs, recreational swimming, competitive meets, special events, and opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active and connected. Whether we’re celebrating exciting new additions like Swim Henry or welcoming you to one of our parks, recreation centers, athletic leagues, classes, or community events, our commitment remains the same: providing exceptional experiences, even as the seasons and our community continue to grow and change. As you explore this Fall Activity Guide, we hope you’ll discover new programs, revisit favorite traditions, and find fresh ways to enjoy everything Henry County has to offer. From youth sports and fitness classes to nature programs, special events, and family activities, there’s something for everyone this season. Thank you for making Henry County Parks & Recreation part of your family’s story. Your participation, enthusiasm, and support inspire us every day. We look forward to seeing you this fall as we continue Creating Amazing Recreation Experiences because no matter the season, Henry County Parks & Recreation C.A.R.E.S.
