The current home of the Danville Masonic Lodge, 34 East Main Street, was originally a Presbyterian Church. It was acquired by the Masons in 1931.

On Saturday, October 9, 2021, Western Star #26 Masonic Lodge will celebrate 175 years of Free Masonry with a celebration and rededication of the lodge by the Grand Lodge of Indiana. The event will be open to the public.
Established in 1846, Western Star #26 was the first Masonic lodge in Hendricks County.
There will be a celebration and rededication of the lodge by the Grand Lodge of Indiana. This event is open to the public. There will be a meal immediately after the ceremony. Below is a schedule of events for the day.
Schedule of Events: Grand Marshal arrives 09:00am Lodge Officers open Lodge 10:00am Lodge room is open to the public for ceremony seating
10:15am Grand Lodge Officers arrive 10:30am Grand Lodge open 10:45am Ceremony 11:00am Meal & Introductions 12:30pm Meal Menu : BBQ pulled pork, cole slaw, baked beans, cookie for dessert, drinks.
A spokesman for the Lodge added, “On behalf of the Worshipful Master and the rest of the officers of Western Star Lodge #26, we are honored and proud to be a part of this historic event. We welcome all to attend.”
Donate Coats For Veterans

Get “Into” Scarecrow Displays!

Be a part of the news when you visit the Scarecrow display on the court house square in Danville. The Republican’s display offer a newsy backdrop for a Halloween photo op. Several of the other displays have picture opportunities and all of them are perfect for posing next to.
You can get a little history lesson at The Republican’s display by scanning the QR code for a 3-minute story about the newspaper’s history read by local author Philip Gulley.
The Scarecrow display will remain up through October 29.

Danville BVM Closed During October
The Danville branch of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is amonth eight BMV branches that will temporarily close during the month of October
Employees of temporarily closed branches will be reassigned to support nearby locations for the month. The branches will reopen November 1 with regular business hours.
HCRW Club To Meet

Last Tox-Away Day for 2021

Hendricks Recycling District will host the final Tox-Away Days for 2021 on Saturday, October 9, at the Plainfield Middle School, 985 Longfellow Ln, Plainfield, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All Household Hazardous Waste (chemicals, auto fluids, fluorescent bulbs, rechargeable batteries, pesticides, herbicides, etc.) is accepted from households free of charge. Fees are charged for the recycling of televisions, appliances and tires (over a certain number).
Only residents of Hendricks County are allowed to utilize the District’s Tox- Away Day events.
When you arrive at a Tox-Away event, stay in your vehicle. Volunteers will unload everything for you.
Please remember, latex paint should not be brought to Tox-Away Day for disposal. It is safe to dispose of with normal household trash once it’s been solidified.

Senior Center Food Pantry
Hendricks County Senior Services offers a food pantry for Hendricks County seniors. The food pantry is open by appointment. Please call 317-745-4303 to make an appointment to come to the food pantry.
Hendricks County Senior Services reserves the right to limit the number of visits. Individuals must be 60 years old or older and a resident of Hendricks County, to use the food pantry. Donations are always needed, accepted and appreciated.

Donations Being Collected For Afghan Refugees

Fairfield Friends Meeting recently sent a carload of donations to the Danville Armory, to be distributed to Afghan refugees that are being house at Camp Atterbury.
The National Guard Armory, 1245 E. Main St., Danville, will be a drop-off site for donations for the 6,600+ Afghan evacuees being housed at Camp Atterbury.
Needed items include baby formula; baby diapers; children’s clothing (including baby and newborn clothes), hats and socks;
Men’s and women’s unbranded, modest clothes such as long sleeve T-shirts, underwear, pants and jackets ins sizes small to large (no shorts or tank tops);
Socks, hats, shoes and slide-on sandals (no flip-flops) for evacuees of all ages;
Coloring books, crayons, toys.
Any organization or business seeking to make a large donation and unable to deliver to a designated site should contact privatesector@dhs.in.gov.
