CAROL A. LITTON

69, of Avon, passed away on September 1, 2021.

She was born on October 6, 1951, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to Phyllis Kuppart and the late Robert Bristow. Carol was a faithful servant of the Lord and a lifelong member of Lynhurst Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Ind., where she served as a leader and a resident prayer warrior.

Carol was a wife to Bruce for 39 years, worked in an administrative role at IUPUI for 11 years, and was instrumental in the growth of a family-owned business for 31 years. She will be remembered as a loving mother and the best Grandma to her two grandchildren, for her vibrant personality, and her faith in Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Heather Hoffman (Joel) of Pittsboro; mother, Phyllis Bristow of Indianapolis; siblings, Janet, Roberta, Robert, Rene, Sheryl, Venus, and two grandchildren, Landon and Lyndi.

Services were Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Lynhurst Baptist Church. Private entombment was at Maple Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Plainfield. Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lynhurst Baptist Church 1250 S Lynhurst Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46241. WILLIAM LEE “BILL” MADDUX

passed away on August 30, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis on October 29, 1943, son of the late James Nelson Maddux Sr., and May Elizabeth (Tongaw) Maddux. Bill grew up in Danville, and graduated from Danville High School in 1962. He spent the next few years working in construction with his father.

Bill enlisted in the United States Army on July 9, 1968 and was honorably discharged on July 14, 1971. After being discharged, he started working in sheet metal. While working with Charles McIntosh installing a furnace, he met the love of his life, Anastasia (Stacey) McIntosh, Charles’ sister. They were married on April 1, 1972 until her passing on April 20, 2007.

In the early years, Bill worked in construction, as an auctioneer, at Conrail Railroad and then to General Motors Corporation as a tin smith, where he retired with a 30-year pension.

Bill loved traveling, camping, and boating. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, classic car shows and was a model train enthusiast.

Bill married Debra (Yancey) Grismore on May 1, 2009. Bill and Debbie enjoyed their large blended family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Nelson Maddux, Jr., wife Stacey, son/son-in-law Bradley A. Harris, son Steven McCubbins, Jr., grandson Adam A. Deavers and infant great-grandsons KayShawn and DrewShawn.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debra, children Lisa Harris, Brandy Maddux, Brent Harris and Brandon Harris, grandchildren Kalie McCubbins, Nicholas McCubbins, Wayne Deavers Jr., Danny Woten, Devon Harris, Lacey McCubbins, Taylor Mc- Cubbins, Brisa Harris, Alexia Harris, Braven Harris, Cole Harris, Salem Weaver, Kaydence Weaver and Carleen Harris, great grandchildren, Ana, Drayden, Delilah, Cain, Tracey, MyShawn, MonTay, Raeleigh, Ashton, Zechariah, Bradlynn and Eliza.

Funeral service took place Tuesday September 7, 2021 at Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

H.F. “FRANK” FRENCH

68, of Clayton, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021 in University Hospital in Indianapolis.

A celebration of life service took place on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in Hazelwood Christian Church, 9947 S. and Co. Road 0, south of Clayton. Burial followed in the Clayton Cemetery.

Frank was born in Louisville, Ky. to the late Paul French and Rhea (Corps) French Brown of Plainfield.

He graduated from Southport High School in Indianapolis, attended IUPUI, and received an Auto Mechanic Degree from Ivy Technical College.

Frank had been a commercial truck driver for many years, having driven for Langsenkamp Metals and Ryder Logistics, both of Indianapolis, where he recently retired.

He was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church where he assisted with the food pantry ministry, as well as a liaison for the church and local Boy Scout Troop #305 of Clayton.

Surviving along with his mother, Rhea, are his loving wife of 47 years, Debra “Debi” (Lorber); children, Kristin French of Clayton, Tony (Taffy) French of Avon; grandchildren, Faith Fox, Jessica Place, Brent Trauner, Kyla, Katelyn and Kendall French; a brother, Paul (Vanessa) French of Martinsville; sisters, Linda French, Paula (Ron) Danforth, Robin Furkins, all of Indianapolis, Melody (John) DiGiovanni of Tennessee, and a step-sister, Bonnie Brown of Indianapolis.

Contributions may be given to Boy Scout Troop #305 of Clayton in memory of Frank.

GLEN C. BECK, 89

of Plainfield, passed away September 02, 2021.

He was born on June 15, 1932 in Rogersville, Tennessee, to the late Waitman and Georgia (Russell) Beck. He married Unave Spears on September 02, 1955 in Danville, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on November 12, 2012, after 57 years of marriage.

Glen was the owner of Beck’s Construction Company for over 50 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Restoring Hope Community Church in Indianapolis.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Scott (Gregg) of Cornelius, NC., Reba Gipson of Martinsville; sons, Charles Beck (Jackie) of Clayton, Randy Beck (Beth) of Martinsville; sister, Relda Davis of Rogersville, TN.; 11 grandchildren, Jason Hilton (Crystal), Jennifer Jones (Justin), Terry Hardin (Michelle), Jason Scott (Erin), Ryan Scott (Kristin), John Beck, Mary Beck, Chris Beck, Ashley Beck, Whitney Gauthier (Josh), Ryan Bess and 21 great-grandchildren.

His parents, wife and brothers, Sammie, Fred, John and Harlen Beck, preceded him in death.

Services were Tuesday, September 07, 2021 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial following in the Clayton Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate 3816 Paysphere Circle Chicago, IL 60674.

JAMES A. MUSTON

53, Brownsburg, passed away September 2, 2021.

He was a bindery supervisor for Westrock and an avid camper and member of a camping association club. He had also been a member of the Spooky Bone band.

His parents, Verlyn and Lois Muston, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Muston; children Dominick Muston (Jackie), Steven Muston (Leigha) and Cheyanna Muston (Rylan); grandchildren Sophia and Bentley Muston; brothers and sisters Verlyn Muston Jr., Michael Muston, Linda Thompson, Cathy King, and David Muston along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later day.

WALTER WEBSTER DININGER

94, of Sullivan, Ind. passed away on September 3, 2021. He was born on December 3, 1926 in Indianapolis, to the late Clarence and Ida Belle (Coffman) Dininger.

Walter was a member of the American Legion, He enjoyed fishing and watching sports.

Walter served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and Korea at the end of W.W. II. He was a graduate of Indiana Central College where he was a three sport athlete. His coaching and teaching career spanned years, first at Indiana Central College coaching football, then at Arsenal Technical High School where he coached football, wrestling, and track & field. Walter retired from Tri-West High School after teaching and coaching football, wrestling, and track & field for many years. The football program’s mental attitude award is named in honor of him; He later came out of retirement to coach football at Kentucky Wesleyan College.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen R. Dininger; sons William Dininger (Julie) and Steven all of Sullivan, IN

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a drive past memorial celebration on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 2 - 4 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis. Arrangements have been entrusted to G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home.

LARRY G. GREGORY

87, Avon, passed away September 5, 2021.

He was a member of Crossroads Church of Avon. He was a US Navy Korean War veteran. He worked at Benham Press for 27 years.

In 1978 he started Quaylynn Homes with his son, Matt, and built hundreds of houses for families over the past 40 years. So many families have raised their kids in homes that were built the right way and built to last.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Gregory. Thankfully he only had to be apart from his beloved Barbara for less than 8 months, reunited once again.

Survivors include his children Donna (Jerry) Abshier and Matt (Mirenda) Gregory; grandchildren Megan Reischel, Adam Abshier, Morgan Gregory, Daniel Abshier and Matthew Q. Gregory II; great grandchildren Noah, Eli, Ben and Addison Reischel and Kobe, Kaedyn, Koli and Kyler Gills.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Friday, September 10 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Brownsburg Cemetery.

PEARL E. MARTIN HICKEY

100, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away very peacefully on August 29, 2021 in the Memory Care Unit of The Harrison Senior Living Community.

She was born on April 16, 1921 in Emmett, Idaho, to the late Merrill and Myrtle (Robertson) Robinson. Pearl married her high school sweetheart, Gilbert Martin on May 03, 1941 in Nampa, Idaho, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1970. She later married Earl Hickey and he also preceded her in death on October 15, 2001.

Pearl was a homemaker and also worked in the yardage department at The Merc Department Store in Nampa, Idaho. She was well known for the pies she baked and served at the snack bar in The Merc. Pearl also made very beautiful hand embroidered baby quilts over the years. She and her husband, Gilbert (Gib), were avid bow hunters and attended many archery events. Pearl lived in Nampa for 86 years before relocating to Surprise, AZ and later to Indianapolis, Indiana to be near her daughter, Judy.

She managed to survive getting Covid-19 in 2020 at age 99. Her biggest goal in life was to live to be 100 which she accomplished in April 2021.

Survivors include her son, Duane E. Martin; daughter, Judy K. Cash; 4 grandchildren, Trista Caster, Harrison Cash, Dustin and Doug Martin; and 6 great-grandchildren, Tanner and Madison Caster, Wyatt Whitaker, Evelyn Cash, Noah and Mason Martin as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husbands, siblings, Richard and Harold Robinson and son-in-law, Gregory Cash, preceded her in death.

Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements. She will be buried at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, Idaho with her husband Gilbert Martin. A Memorial luncheon will be held in April of 2022 in Nampa, Idaho. Online condolences may be made at www.bakerfuneralservice.com

JAMES “JIM” NEVILLE BOONE

of Plainfield, born on May 15, 1944 in Boca Rotan, Florida, passed away August 27, 2021.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Neville and Mable Boone, Jim was an only child who spent his first two years living an idyllic life near the beach. He and his mother played in the sun, sand, and surf almost daily while his father completed his active military duty. As a boy Jim frequently visited his extended family in southern Indiana, exploring hundreds of acres of family hunting ground.

Jim was also preceded in death by his long-time friend Martha Gooldy of Plainfield. Jim and Martha enjoyed traveling out West, exploring the backwaters of Canada by canoe for weeks at time, cooking, and playing Bluegrass music.

He is survived by his “friends turned family”: Traci Hackleman of Noblesville, Maci Tetrick of South Bend, Max Tetrick of Noblesville, and MaryClaire Tetrick of Noblesville.

Jim graduated from Plainfield High School in 1962, where he played football. Upon graduation he attended Indiana University, where he obtained a B.A. in Economics and Business Management in 1966. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. A proud and patriotic U.S. Marine, Jim served two terms in Vietnam in 1967-68, earning multiple medals for his service, before going to work for the Criminal Justice Department until retirement. Jim’s love of the outdoors spanned his lifetime, and until very recently, many of his weekends were spent hunting and shooting skeet and trap.

Jim lived most of his life in the house his parents built on Duffey Street in the early 1940’s. An avid reader and history buff, generations of Duffey Street neighbors have enjoyed the friendship and stories shared by the neighborhood historian. He will be missed by many.

Services were at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield on Friday, September 3. \A military ceremony took place at his burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Plainfield Friends Meeting, a Quaker Church.

LORETTA JEAN DAUGHERTY

of Clayton,passed away September 2, 2021.

She was born on April 13, 1942, in Indianapolis, to Marjorie and Russell Burdge. Loretta married John Daugherty on August 20, 1960. Loretta loved planning family events, having Sunday dinners, and going overboard on holidays. She was a wonderful cook often using recipes from generations past. Keeping family traditions was so important to her. She enjoyed taking pictures and making photo albums of her kids and grandkids. She truly made her home a haven for her loved ones.

Loretta l was a long-time member of Faith Baptist Church of Avon where she was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was also a soloist and member of the choir.

Loretta is survived by her husband; children, Ricky Daugherty, Rhonda Bradley, Rachelle Brewer and son-in-law Dean Brewer; grandchildren: Ricky, Jacob and Joshua Daugherty, Jonathan and Benjamin Bradley, John Allan and Gloria Brewer; great-grandchildren, Kenley and Jacob Daugherty; sister Julie Clark and brothers, Jim Burdge and Jeffrey Burdge; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Faith Baptist Church, 3860 East Main Street, Danville, Indiana, from 10 -noon on Saturday, September 11, 2021, with the service at noon. Burial will follow at the Clayton Cemetery. Arrangments: Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg.
