MARY ANNE ROSEMAN

85, Indianapolis, passed away July 17, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Anne Mobley, husband, Richard Roseman, son, Robert (Bob) Roseman, and brother Jerry Mobley.

Survivors include children Rick (Debbie) Roseman, Phil (Paula) Roseman, Chris (Joy) Roseman, Danny Roseman, Kevin (Liz) Roseman, Mike (Leigh) Roseman and Jenny Scheele; brother Clarence Mobley; sisters Kathy Hofmeister and Peggy Mobley; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mary Anne attended grade school at Our Lady of Lourdes and graduated high school from St. Mary’s in Indianapolis. She married Richard Roseman in 1955 and shared 60 years of marriage together. She was an active volunteer in church, schools, little league sports programs, Cub Scouts, and much more. For several years Mary Anne was involved in MaryKay Cosmetics. She was feisty and loving with all who entered her life and a true gift God blessed us with.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 23 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 24 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5333 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46219. Burial will follow in St. Malachy Cemetery, Brownsburg.

VIRGINIA JONES LEVITT

88, passed away peacefully July 12, 2021.

She was born December 15, 1932 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to the late William and Ruth (Bechtel) Jones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Howard Levitt and her sister, Shirley Latshaw, of Columbus, Ohio.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph Levitt (wife, Francesca Contino) of Danville, and William Charles Levitt (wife, Yvonne Stark) of St. David, Ariz., and her grandchildren, Anna Levitt and Eric Martin Levitt (wife, Saliha Stewart), of Indianapolis.

Virginia graduated from Walnut Hills High School, Wooster, Ohio, class of 1950, and Central Academy of Commercial Art, Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952. A life-long resident of Cleveland, Ohio, Virginia was a career woman at a time when women rarely pursued careers outside the home. Retail advertising and fashion were her life-long passions and she was a highly sought-after advertising director for over 38 years by the largest department stores in the United States, such as Marshall Fields, Famous Barr and the May Company.

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.

ABOU MAZDAI, MD

84, died July 14, 2021 at his home in Brownsburg. His passing was a result of complications of a stroke he suffered nearly five years earlier.

Dr. Mazdai was born in Zahedan, Iran to Bahram and Farangis on March 5, 1937. He was one of four children and is survived by his sisters Mehri Soroushian (Hormozd) and Mahin Mazdai of California and preceded in death by his brother Khodadad (Sima).

He received his elementary education in Zahedan and his high school education in Tehran. He attended College and Medical School at the University of Tehran. After completion of medical school, he did an internship at Englewood Hospital in Chicago and then a surgical residency at Homer G. Phillips in St. Louis.

It was during residency that he met his wife, Jo Wopat, in 1964 on a blind date. They were married on December 30, 1966 after he accepted her marriage proposal. The couple embarked on several adventures that took them back to Iran for several years before settling in Connersville, Ind. after he completed his certification in General Surgery. In 1972, he was the only nonhospital-based specialist in Connersville. He spent the next 50 plus years caring for the people of Connersville and Rushville that he considered his patients, neighbors and friends.

In 2014 the Indiana State Medical Association honored him for his 50 years of service in medicine. Outside of medicine, he enjoyed gardening, traveling, motorcycling riding and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jo Wopat Mazdai, his sisters, his four children: Mina (Matt Green) of Bargersville, Anita (Brad Angeles) of Brownsburg, Dean of Hurst, Tex., and Darius of Fishers; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren that all survive, Alex, Sophia, and Gigi Angeles, Cira and Camron Mazdai and Conner, Kelsey and Maddie Green.

There will be a celebration of life at the Miller Building at Roberts Park in Connersville on July 22 from 4-8 p.m. Arrangements: Matthews Mortury, Brownsburg.

PAUL ALLEN CREWS

93, of Lafayette, died Sunday evening, July 4, 2021.

He was born in a farmhouse between Amo and Coatesville in Hendricks County, Indiana, March 30, 1928, to Charles Oakley and Delia Rachel (Phillips) Crews.

Paul attended Amo High School in Amo, Indiana graduating in 1946. Paul Allen Crews married Shirley Jean O’Neal on September 3, 1948, in Carmel, Indiana. They moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1959 and to their country home in Lafayette, Colorado in 1968.

Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946 eventually becoming a Machinery Repairman Third Class. He was employed by Ball Brothers Research Corporation/Ball Aerospace as a machinist when first moving to Boulder, Colorado. Paul accepted a position in quality control working on some early stages of the satellite/shuttle space programs.

Paul and Shirley were foster parents for many years. Paul loved “the farm”, his family and his church family. He played basketball in his early years and enjoyed watching his children participate in sports. Paul enjoyed hunting with friends, rebuilding vehicles, and working the land on his property.

He was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ in Westminster (most recently), Boulder (Jay Road) Church of Christ, and Longmont Church of Christ (where he served as an Elder).

Paul is survived by his children, daughters: Sandy (and Ernie) Anderson of Boulder, Colorado; Joyce (and Dave) Sims of Lakewood, Colorado; and sons: Phil (and Shelley) Crews of Longmont, Colorado; and Dale (and Rhonda) Crews of Mustang, Oklahoma.

Paul had 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and foster children.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Shirley; two brothers, Carl and Tom; three sisters; Rosemary, Ruth, and Rachel; and a daughter, Cheryl Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 6th and will be at the Northwest Church of Christ, 5255 W. 98th Avenue, Westminster, Colo.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Paul’s memory to Mountain States Children’s Home, 14780 N. 107th Street, Longmont, CO 80504.

CHARLENE B. ALLEN

83, of Plainfield, passed away suddenly at home on July 16, 2021.

Charlene was born October 27, 1937, in Oneida, Tennessee, to the late Sylvester and Elva (Smith) Blevins. She married the love of her life, Johnny Allen, on June 26, 1960.

Charlene was a member of Plainfield Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling in the motor home. A few of her favorite places was Branson, Missouri, Daytona Beach, and Acapulco, Mexico.

Johnny and Charlene lived on the east coast for many years, but family always brought her out west to see Johnny’s family and back home to Tennessee and Indiana. Family was everything to Charlene. She was always there for Johnny and supported him with anything he wished to do whether it was his NASCAR Racing or his businesses he ran.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Andrew and Clarence Blevins, and Opal Terry.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Johnny Allen; siblings, Oakley (Cheryl) Blevins, Robert (Ann) Blevins, and Zora Winchester; and many nieces and nephews.

BESSIE MARIE COLEMAN YERICH

age 93, longtime Brownsburg resident, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 in Avon.

The daughter of James and Mattie Murray Coleman, she was born on Mar. 24, 1928 in Casey County, Kentucky. On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Bronko Yerich, who preceded her in death in 2014.

She had been employed at several Brownsburg businesses over the years including Mildred’s Card and Gift Shop, Ben Franklin and Dale’s Family Center.

Mrs. Yerich is survived by a son, James Yerich of Acworth, Georgia: two daughters, Donna (Dwight) Barger and Linda (Kevin) Rollings, both of Brownsburg; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, a daughter, Barbara Higdon; two sisters, Ina Bowman and Gay Stewart; and three brothers, James Edward, Lester and Garland Coleman, preceded her in death.

TIMOTHY R. LATHAN

66, of Plainfield, passed away July 18, 2021.

He was born April 7, 1955 to the late Marce Lathan and Opal (Sharer) Jarrett in Indianapolis. He was a 1973 graduate of Plainfield High School.

He was the owner of Timothy’s Pub in Plainfield for over twenty years. Tim retired from the sewer department of Plainfield Department of Public Works in 2020.

Tim was a respected, seasoned professional entertainer and gifted musician, who played lead guitar and sang for The Crawdaddys and the Faith Country Band, in addition to other bands through the years. He was a member of Christ Church, Plainfield. He loved his kids, grandkids his loving wife and he enjoyed his dogs and many other stray animals.

Timmy is survived by his wife, Debbie (Skinner) Lathan, his sons, Cody (Katie) Lathan; Stefan (Tori) Lathan; his daughter, Whitney (Ryan) Cline; his sister, Pat Oliver; his brother, Don (Alberta) Lathan and his six grandchildren, Charleigh Lathan, Conner Lathan, Carter Cline, Raylynn Lathan, Aniston Cline and Calum Lathan.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Wingler. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 22, at Hazelwood Christian Church, 9963 S. CountyRoad 0, Hazelwood. DANIEL BOYD WEAKS

67, of Avon, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021.

Daniel was born March 5, 1954 in Indianapolis to Norman and Phyllis Patten Weaks.

He worked for 44 years at Carrier.

Daniel is survived by his wife Karla Bauer Weaks, sons Daniel and Philip Weaks, grandchildren Logan, Austin, Oliver, David and Michael, brothers Donald and David “Bud” Weaks, sister Bonnie Fite.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Debra Weaks. The family is planning a celebration of Daniel’s life at a later date. Arrangemens: Family Funeral Care - Rockville West.

CARL J. MARTIN

89, of Avon, formerly of Danville, passed away Monday evening at the Independence Village of Avon (formerly the Hearth at Prestwick) with his family by his side. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home Danville, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place following the service in New Maysville (Putnam County) Cemetery.

Carl was born in London, Kentucky, to the late Walter and Maggie (Brock) Martin. Growing up in London, he attended Bush High School. Later, moving to Bainbridge, Indiana, Carl married Freeda G. Steward on July 12, 1952. Their moves included Mt. Comfort and Spencer, Indiana, finally settling in Danville for the past 20+ years.

Carl owned and operated Carl Martin Excavating Company for 50+ years.

He was member of Northview Christian Church in Danville. Carl was a former member of the Spencer (Ind.) Lions Club as well as the Men’s Pool League in Mission, Texas. His love of “bird dogs” found him being a member of the Bird Dog Club of amo. Carl’s claim to fame was raising and training the 1971 Bird Dog of the Year, “Chief.” He also holds the distinct honor of being the current “world’s record holder” for antique buggy horse racing since 1982 with his wonderful horse, “Lucy.”

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Freeda, who experienced her loss on their wedding anniversary date; their children, James (Ada) Martin of Danville, Brenda (Gary) Davis of Mitchell, Ind.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carl was one of seven children.

The family has requested that contributions be given to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Carl.

RAY P. ROBERTSON

age 77, of Coatesville, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in his residence.

Born November 21, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of John Robertson and Hazel (Nunns) Robertson. He married Norma A. Sydnor and she survives. They were married for 57 years.

Ray was proud to have been a teamster for 35 years as a truck driver.

He was a proud member of the Canaan Community Church where he was a deacon, trustee, and head barrista.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years; sons, Richard (Lynn) Robertson and Paul Robertson; daughter, Laura (Doug) Smith; grandchildren Jessica (Michael) Hershey, Patrick (Amanda) Robertson, Ashleigh (Aaron) Richman, and Austin (Victoria Lucchese) Robertson; great grandchildren Lorelai & Bradly Hershey, Janna, Yuri & Gabriel Robertson; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, two brothers, John and Jerry, and three sisters, Mary, Barbara, and Ruth preceded him.

Services were Saturday, July 17, at the Canaan Community Church, with Kevin Thompson officiating. Cremation followed and burial at a later date in the Canaan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canaan Community Church, 3517 N County Rd 800 E, Coatesville, IN 46121.

JOHN T. LAYTON

51, Brownsburg, passed away July 16, 2021.

He was an Auto Body Painter for the Speedway Body Shop; prior, he worked for K & C Collision for 18 years.

John was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Thomas Layton and father, Kenneth L. Layton.

He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Firestone and son, Tyler Lawless.

RICHARD LEON CLARK

76, of Plainfield, passed away July 16, 2021.

He was born on January 12, 1945 in Sullivan, Indiana, to the late Murl and Margie (Kirkley) Clark. He married Nina Sue Siders on January 19, 1980 in Indianapolis.

Richard worked for G M Allisons for 47 years, retiring as a stationary engineer on July 01, 2012.

He was a member of the Mooresville First United Methodist Church, the Bridgeport Masonic Lodge #162 and the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed camping, traveling the United States on cruise ships, horseback riding and woodworking. Richard loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Nina Clark of Plainfield; sons, Dustin A. Clark (Rachael), Tony Clark, Brady Clark; daughter, Mikki Baker; brother, Dan Clark (Ronna); 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A Masonic Service took place Tuesday, July 20, Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with funeral services following with Pastor Mike Biggs officiating. RHETTA J. BLACKSTONE

age 80, Coatesville (Heritage Lake), passed away Sunday evening, July 18, 2021 at Hendricks Regional Health, Danville.

She was born August 26, 1940 in Greencastle. She had worked as a cook in Greencastle. Her hobbies included cooking, crochet and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors includes a daughter Pam Dean, Coatesville; 4 grandchildren, Shelby Dean, Cole Dean, Clare Schrout and husband Clay, and Sarah Dean; cousin Glenda Hester and her children Athena and Shawna Hester.

Her parents and husband preceded her.

DOLORES ANN MALICOAT

81, passed away peacefully at her home in Coatesville, on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

She was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on July 1, 1940, a daughter of the late Gene and Mary K. (VanSickle) Lewis.

On January 13, 1984, she was married to Richard E. Malicoat in Martinsville, Indiana; he survives.

She was a 1958 graduate of North Salem High School. She had worked for American States Insurance for many years, retiring in 1982. Dolores then worked part-time at Fundex Toy Company in Plainfield for about 10 years.

Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family dearly.

Survivors include her husband: Richard E. Malicoat of Coatesville; eight children, Scott Walton of Brazil, Kaye Lehr of Coatesville, Tim (Trisa) Walton of Mooresville, Steve (Paula) Malicoat, Gulfport, Miss., Danny (Kay) Malicoat of Gulfport, Miss., Cindy (Jerry) Beck of Pennsylvania, Rick (Josh) Malicoat of Pennsylvania, Mike (Lisa) Malicoat of Coatesville; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brother: Richard “Boy” Lewis of Coatesville; two sisters: Harriett Brewer of Indianapolis and Dixie (Mike) VanKirk of Gulfport, Miss.; one cousin/sister-atheart, Beverly Dridgen of Greenfield; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by a son, John Malicoat, and a brother-in-law, Dwayne Brewer.

Visitation is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, at Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory, 6 South California Street, in North Salem,. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 23, at the funeral home in North Salem. Interment will follow services at Fairview Cemetery in North Salem.

DIANA L. LAYBOLD

72, of Plainfield, passed away July 15, 2021.

She was born May 17, 1949 to the late Russell and Alberta (Bollock) Buis in Greencastle. She received her BA at Indiana State University and her Masters in Education from Butler University. She was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church, Plainfield, and the PEO.

She was an English and Journalism teacher at Decatur Central High School for 36 years retiring as head of the department in 2009. Diana’s vocation was teaching, but it was much more than that. A reading of her scrapbooks revealed thank you notes that ranged from making her English class enjoyable for a reticent student to being the best teacher ever to providing life lessons that went far beyond the classroom. These notes were more valuable than being chosen Teacher of the Year!

Diana also had a majestic zest for life. She loved to travel, was an accomplished knitter, a voracious reader, an amazing cook and held a black belt in shopping. She lived her life to the fullest until her ALS diagnosis in January 2020. Her last trip was a riverboat cruise on the Danube December 2019.

Diana is survived by her two sisters, Linda S. (David) Laird and Beverly (Floyd) Campbell; and her dear friends, Dennis Craig, Kim Love and John Gilmore.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Salts.

A Memorial Mass will be held 1 p.m., Friday, July 23, at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 E. Main St., Plainfield, where friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 pm. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery,Greencastle. Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.

AMOS GREESON

82, of Lebanon, died Friday, July 16, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Amos was born April 9, 1939, in Amo, a son of the late Wallace Eugene Greeson and Helen (Disney) Greeson. He married Linda Lou Beaman on November 7, 2020. She survives.

Amos graduated from Whitestown High School and was 13th in his class of 14. Following high school he proudly served his country in the US Army. He worked as a pump calibrator at Speedway Oil and Checker Oil (Enron), and then delivered milk for Maplehurst and farmed with his parents. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was fond of Jimmy Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Greeson of Lebanon; sons, Richard Lee (Amanda) Greeson of Lansing, MI and Jay Robert Greeson of Lebanon, IL; daughter, Debbie (Don) Hughes of Lakeland, FL; sister, Linda Hurst of Whitestown; grandchildren, Aaron Hughes, Curtis Hatfield, Michael, Hannah, Taylor Marie, Alexandria J., Mason Lee, and Payton Greeson; and previous wife, Phyllis Johnson Greeson.

Amos was preceded in death by his brother, Genie Greeson; and previous wife, Natalie Anne Greeson.

Services were Tuesday, July 20, in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, Lebanon. Amos was laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Whitestown American Legion Honor Guard.
