Artists Paint the Town
Youth, Teens, Non-Professional, and Professional Artists are all invited to join in the fun by participating in the 4th annual “Artists Paint the Town” in Historic Danville, Indiana! Saturday, August 14, beginning in the morning, artists from all over the state begin painting around the downtown square, in Ellis Park, or at the haunted bridge. They paint here and there and almost everywhere! Visitors and town residents enjoy observing these painters as they create. All are invited to view the completed works of art from 4-5 p.m. at the Hendricks Country 4-H Fairgrounds. (See directional signage off old US 36 across from the Post Office.) At 4:30 p.m. cash awards of $2,500 from our sponsors will be presented, and the public is invited to purchase the plein air artwork. Winning paintings will be on display and for sale at the Gallery on the Square, 51 S. Washington St. Here, the “People’s Choice Awards” will be decided by those stopping by and casting their vote for their favorite painting in the professional and non-professional categories. The “People’s Choice Awards” will be presented during intermission at the Summer Sounds Concert on September 18. Suspects in Brownsburg Murder Arrested
The three remaining suspects in a fatal drive-by shooting in Brownsburg have been arrested and are being held in Hendricks County Jail. Kamarion Moody, 17, Jeremy Perez, 17, and Tyreontay Jackson, 18, all of Indianapolis, were arrested in Indianapolis for the December 2020 murder of Freddie Hegwood. Antonio Lane, 16, of Michigan City, was previously arrested in May 2021 for Hegwood’s murder. The warrants stemmed from the December 15 murder of 17-year-old Freddie Hegwood of Brownsburg on Haag Rd near Brownsburg. A nearly six-month long, comprehensive investigation lead to Murder charges being filed against a total of four suspects, three of which are juveniles. The juveniles in this case were charged as adults, and the four suspects are identified as Tyreontay Jackson, 18, of Indianapolis, Kamarion Moody, 17, of Indianapolis, Jeremy Perez, 17, of Indianapolis, and Antonio Lane, 16, of Michigan City. All four are being held at the Hendricks County Jail with no bond. __________
HCCF Awards Unity Grants
As a direct result of the Hendricks County Community Needs Assessment, the Hendrick County Community Foundation (HCCF) established the Community Unity Grant Program. This program is open to projects and programs that meet the priorities of increased civic engagement; inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility; voter education and engagement; volunteerism, including public and nonprofit Board service; and a stronger sense of County pride/ brand. Recently, two grants were awarded to local organizations working for greater community unity: Family Promise of Hendricks County was awarded a $4,400 to support their new "Belonging in Hendricks County" group. This program is focused on providing a supportive and safe environment for clients, graduates, and supporters of Family Promise to discuss experiences related to race and class in Hendricks County. The Town of Brownsburg was awarded a $5,000 grant to support Town leaders in diversity, equity and inclusion work by providing Town staff the tools to better understand and respond to community needs. Auction Fund
During last year’s pandemic, the traditional livestock auction at the end of the Fair became instead a fundraiser for the Auction Fund, with over $115,000 pledged to be divided among the 4-H members who signed up. This year there will be the addition of a new fundraising event, The Buyer’s Bonanza.
“Buyer’s Bonanza” Added to This Year’s 4-H Fair
Instead of the traditional livestock auction, this year’s 4-H Fair will have a new feature added to the end of the Fair events, the “Buyer’s Bonanza,” where 4-H supportrers can bid on prizes with the money going to the 4-H Auction Fund. ______________________________________________
Apply for HCCF PCSC Gets Bond Bank Scholarships More than 24 scholar- “Give Back” ships are offered by the Hendricks County Community Foundation to local high school seniors, and the application to apply for these will be open this year from August 4 - September 15th. Applications for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship (LECS) are available at the same time and through the same online application. The LECS Program provides full-tuition, required-fees, and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis. HCCF will nominate 3 students to receive the scholarship. The other awards range from $500 to $10,000, with each scholarship having specific criteria. Students must apply for the scholarships online at http:/ hendrickscountycf.org/ for-our-community/scholarships/ where more information is also available. Since 1996, the Community Foundation has annually awarded nearly 50 scholarships totaling over $1.2 million. These scholarships are funded by donors who believe in the youth of Hendricks County and want to support their pursuit of higher education. __________

In May 2021, as part of a newly launched ‘Indiana Bond Bank (IBB) Gives Back’ campaign, the IBB reimbursed 29 school corporations $348,175 in interest paid on tax anticipation warrants issued through IBB in 2020 during the height of COVID-19. Among the recipients of this reimbusement is Plainfield Community School Corporation. The Indiana Bond Bank is a quasi-state agency created in 1984 whose mission is to provide targeted financial solutions to local Indiana government. Loan Medical Equipment
Hendricks County Senior Services maintains a limited supply of medical equipment available for loan for residents of Hendricks County as part of the Danville Rotary Club Foundations, Inc’s Durable Medical Equipment Loan program. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no charge for borrowing the equipment. Donations are graciously accepted to help offset the cost of maintaining the equipment. There will still be a “hybrid auction” similar to that of last year. The Fairboard will compile an “Auction Bill” available on the website 4hcomplex.org. New this year, there will also be pictures of the 4-Her’s with their animals. Buyer will have the option of donating to a specific 4-Her, through the use of “Add-on’s.” There will be a form online to fill out and submit, or print, fill out and email or drop off. Those using “Add-on’s” will receive a receipt with relevant information on 4-Her and will be able to send their check directly to them. It will not be the normal 100% disposal auction. 4-Her’s will be able to take the animals home, but will also have the opportunity to dispose of their animal and ship to market. An Auction Fund will be used to distribute to 4-Her’s that participate in our “Virtual Auction”. The funds will be distributed to bring the “floor” amount as high as possible. 4-Her’s who receive less in “Add-On’s” will receive more of the fund, those that receive large amounts of “Add-on’s” will receive less from the fund. There will be a link on the website at www.4hcomplex. org to click to be able to donate to the “Auction Fund”. The new and fun addition will be the “Buyer’s Bonanza. ” On Friday July 23, bidders are invited to the fairgrounds and the NSSB Arena for a couple of hours of fun, networking, and giving to the 4-Her’s. Registration and check-in at 4:30 p.m. You will be able to fill out Add-on cards, donate to specific 4-Her’s and give to the Auction Fund, all at the event. At 5:30 bidders will enjoy Porkburger, chips, and drink along with $5 of Fair Bucks to use for dessert at the vendor of your choice. At 6 p.m. there will be an auction of numerous items, including a Lifetime Fair Pass, naming rights for the North/South Hall for the 2022 Fair. Those coming to the Buyer’s Bonanza are aksed to be willing to support the Auction or donations to the Auction Fund of at least $100.
