There’s a big hole in the ABA Indiana Lyons line up that’s going to be hard to fill. The Lyons’ Jermaine Harris, announced his retirement last week. The 6’6” center hails from Macon, Georgia and joined the Lyons in 2019.

Shouting encouragement from the bench, he was the team’s biggest fan as well as one of its players. Showing off his dance moves between quarters, Jermaine was both athlete and entertainer.

“I want to thank Coach Brown and Mrs Brown for letting me be a part of the Indiana Lyons - the memory I share with this team was great,” he wrote. “We made it to the ABA Elite Eight and I love this team.We came up short but I am so proud of the way the whole team fights through adversity.

“It is a sad day for me knowing that it all had to come to an end at 38 years of age,” he wrote. “I want to thank all the Indiana Lyons Fans who have been there for us the whole season. God is good and I know the next chapter in my life will be good. It is sad when your mind says you can do it but your body say no. I have no regrets.

“Thanks to my wife, Ashley Johnson, for always supporting me, making me smile and pushing me to be the best.

Once a Lyon, always a Lyon.”

The entire object of true education is to make people not merely do the right things, but enjoy the right things — not merely industrious, but to love industry — not merely learned, but to love knowledge — not merely pure, but to love purity — not merely just, but to hunger and thirst after justice.
