Host Zoom Afternoon
Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the Hendricks County Extension Homemakers are excited to host an educational afternoon. With COVID on the rise, these sessions will be offered virtually, so you can enjoy them from the comfort of your home. Open to everyone, three separate presentations will be offered that day, all presented by Area VI Purdue Extension Educators. The sessions offered are: 1 p.m. - “Returning to a Social Life - We are Ready!” by Susan Peterson - The pandemic has been long. It has isolated us from many things and our way of life has changed but we are ready to safely return to a more social way of life BUT WAIT…here comes another variant and we again are trying to figure out how we return to social gatherings and feel confident and safe. What can we do, what do we need to change, how do we adapt and/or improve the events we miss. What are the next steps as we head into the new year. 2 p.m. - “Memory, Forgetfulness & Aging” by Christina Owusu-Alkomah - Everyone has changes in their memory as they age. This program will discuss how the normal act of aging affects our memories and changes that are not normal. We will cover some of the warning signs of dementia that should encourage you or a loved one to seek help. Just as important, we will cover tips and tricks that will keep our brains younger, not matter when we were born! 3 p.m. “Code Red” by Beth Switzer, MS, RDN, CD is a program that shows how the Code Red Spreadsheets can be used - one for personal information and the other for business information. In the event of a crisis the need for timely information about the people in the family or home business and their contacts are very important. The spreadsheet keeps important information such as passwords, bank account information, rental agreements, insurance papers and power-of-attorney documents in one location. The program is free, but registration is required. You may register on line at: bit.ly/2022LeaderLessons or by calling the Hendricks County Extension Office at 317745-9260. Those registered will receive the zoom link for the session(s) of their choice along with any supplemental brochures via email prior to the session. If you have questions, or if you have a disability that requires special assistance for your participation contact Purdue Extension – Hendricks County, 317-745-9260 or hendrces@purdue.edu ______________________________________________
