This welcome guide will answer any questions you may have about the facilities and entertainment, what to do around the park and what to see and enjoy around Newquay and Cornwall, to provide you with lasting memories of your holiday in this special part of England.

Our friendly staff can give you lots of tips and advice on the best places to visit, beaches, shopping and entertainment, and if you have any queries they will do their best to assist and advise – pop into Hendra’s reception for maps, leaflets and guides on hundreds of places to visit and info sheets on the best beaches.

In the centre pages of this guide are vouchers where we have arranged discounted entrance fees for many top attractions for our guests.

Great places for fun, entertainment and relaxation...

The Oasis Fun Pools Complex is probably where most of our guests spend their time, especially with the children! With three sensational waterslides in the indoor pools, it’s the fun place to be when the weather is less favourable*. The outdoor pools are a must to cool down in on hot days and the pool terrace is a great place to relax.

Sports and Games field - take a look at our large games field for organised games, a kick about with a ball or a game of pitch and putt. Located through the gate past Laurel Field, this is where you’ll find various extra activities like the Segway Tours**, Archery and other events as they become available throughout the season.

Play areas and Amusements - the Soft Play***, which is located on the way to The Venue, is an indoor soft play facility for the under 6s and there are lots of other indoor amusements including arcade games and Bowlingo to keep everyone occupied for hours. Children can burn off that holiday energy with our fantastic outdoor children’s playground and amazing traversing wall for little adventurers!

Scooter and Skate park - this amazing facility is for children and young teenagers. It will keep them happily skateboarding and scootering, in a safe and exciting environment, all day!

Family activities - we know that if the kids are happy you will be too - so check out the big blue notice board outside The Venue for details of various events taking place on the park and don’t miss meeting Henry or Henrietta at breakfast, in the evening and on the free train rides around the park. Have a go on our outdoor fitness equipment or try your hand at Archery and Scuba Diving**.

The Venue - the highlight of the holiday for many of our guests who are looking for live on-stage evening entertainment, bingo and lots more. Once the sun’s gone down get ready for an evening of brilliant entertainment. There’s masses to enjoy for all ages from early evening children’s activities with Henry and Henrietta Hippo to prize Bingo and family games, to late evening entertainment with the Hendra Entz Crew and live on-stage music and variety acts! See pages 18 to 26.

Situated behind our supermarket, Mario’s is a great place to relax. Why not come and enjoy a freshly baked pizza and a drink or just chill out with a coffee?

There is even regular live entertainment to enjoy at certain times throughout the season.

All of our pizzas are baked to order and are available to eat in or to take away.

The Terrace Bar and Restaurant and Coffee Express Café

Wake up each day of your holiday and treat yourself to a great breakfast in the freshly styled Terrace Bar and Restaurant, no shopping, no washing up, just take it easy over a full English, or something more continental. Or, if you are planning a more laid back start, stroll over for a leisurely brunch or lunch on the terrace or be tempted by a delicious pastry or snack from the Coffee Express Café! Bring the kids for an energy-boosting snack to keep them going through the day! A great choice for dinner and supper too!

The Pool Terrace

Chill out on the contemporary-styled terrace with patio heating for the cooler weather. You can enjoy your Terrace Bar and Restaurant meal or drinks, morning coffee or late supper here, overlooking the outdoor pools and sun terraces.

Mario’s Pizzeria

Not only an excellent pizza take-away but you can eat in at this stylish themed café with its own bar and secluded terrace, for when you want a quieter ambiance. Live music during the summer evenings! See the notice board for additional details and opening times.

Hendra’s own traditional Fish & Chip shop

No holiday is complete without a traditional fish and chip supper and now you can pop in and get yours from our very own takeaway, located adjacent to Mario’s and winner of ‘Best Seasonal Operator’ at the ‘Seafish’ National Fish and Chip Awards.

The Supermarket - with its own bakery for freshly baked bread, tasty pastries daily, and all your other shopping. Also sells camping essentials, camping gas and barbeques, toys and gifts, ice cream, beer and wines, beach goods, newspapers and magazines... and a whole lot of other things too!

The Launderette - essential for making your holiday chores as hassle-free as possible, especially for families with small children and those who are touring with minimal luggage!

Here you can do a full wash and dry, and even iron everything too!

Open until late, and £4 (4 x £1 coins are required), for one wash, with washing powder dispensed; it is £1 for 15 minutes in the tumble dryer, and 20p for 5 minutes ironing.

The Hire Shop - forgotten something, or need extra kit or equipment? Then see the list on page 51 and give the Hire Shop a call... a small deposit and you’re sorted!

Superb Toilet and Shower Facilities - Winners, year after year, of the Loo of the Year Award, with Hendra being rewarded a Platinum grade for 2014. You’ll find them conveniently placed throughout, suitable for disabled, all equipped to a very high standard and most are heated too!

Fantastic Fun for everyone!

You’ll find so much to fill every day with excitement and fun that you’ll probably never leave the park!

At Hendra we know how important it is to keep all ages entertained, so there really is something for everyone.

Tiny tots will enjoy the play area in the Soft Play room*, the Play Park, and the Pirate’s Ship next to the Laundrette.

Older children will spend hours in our Skate and Scooter Park and have lots of adventures on our Traversing Wall!

Kids can get a glimpse into what it’s like to survive in the wilderness with Hendra’s Survival Lessons! Learn how to make a fire and gut a fish!

Teenagers and the whole family will have fun trying new things such as going on a Segway Tour**, a unique form of transport likened to gliding on a magic carpet, and testing their skills with Archery and Scuba Diving**. * Open 9am – 6pm, daily. The play area is unsupervised; an adult must be present **charges apply

Events change on a daily basis for maximum fun! So check out the big blue notice board by The Venue for activities, event times and locations.

Look out for Henry or Henrietta in the Terrace Bar & Restaurant, hunting for breakfast!

Make sure you catch the Hendra Train at 9am (free to all) for a tour around the park before you start your day!

Then meet up in The Venue from 6.00pm for loads of fun and interactive games from face painting to dancing to your favourite chart music, meeting Henry and Henrietta and your favourite Crew member!

Then there are family game shows, fancy dress competitions and lots more!

A must visit attraction whilst staying at Hendra Holiday Park...

The biggest fun pools complex in the South West is right here on site! Just a short walk from your caravan or pitch and open from 10am – 6pm every day.

Everyone can have safe and splashy fun whatever the weather - you’ll never want to get out of the indoor pools!

Three water flumes, the fast and furious high speed aqua whizz flume, the wet and wild 265ft super flume and the gentle fun slide, plus river rapids, a geyser, waterfall and fountains, you can’t get any wetter!

For those who prefer not to get wet there are lots of loungers and deckchairs to relax on whilst the family enjoy themselves!

Indoors or out, rain or shine… the outdoor pool is a super place to cool off when it’s hot, to sunbathe or just relax with family and friends! The outdoor pool area is where you’ll find lots of extra activities in school holiday periods too.

Please note: Outdoor pool is heated from 17th May to 12th September.

LOTS OF FUN there’s so much to do Information For safety reasons use of the flumes and rapids is restricted to competent swimmers and those over 1 metre in height. Use of the River Rapid Ride is restricted to competent swimmers and those over 1.2 metres in height.

Swimmers under 9 years must be supervised by an adult in the water at a ratio of 1 adult to 2 children. Non-swimmers must be accompanied in the water at a ratio of 1 adult swimmer to 2 non-swimmers. All children under 5 years, regardless of swimming ability, must be accompanied by an adult in the water at a ratio of 1 adult to 2 children.

The pools have a capacity limit for the health and safety of pool users and during peak season and busy times we may restrict entry to Hendra Holiday Park guests only and/or operate swimming sessions of 1 hour 30 minutes.

How can I get a Loyalty Card if this is my first visit?

You become eligible for a Loyalty Card after you book your next holiday with us.

To get a card immediately all you need to do is book your next holiday at reception, (just a small deposit is required), and you will get a Loyalty Card to use on this holiday straight away. *current and previous holiday details must match the records on our files i.e. same name (person making the booking), and/or any other details we may require to determine eligibility. **Loyalty Card offers, and venues in which they will be available, vary throughout the season and are only valid for the published dates or times. As seen on The Voice, Adam Isaac has over 10 years experience the Entertainmen t as a gigging musician and built a strong South West following in his Board for dates earlier years. He has played many venues and festivals around the UK, supported Joss Stone on her UK tour in 2009, and has been named brand ambassador for British freesports lifestyle brand Animal. In 2012 Adam made it to the quarter final stages of BBC’s “The Voice” UK with the legendary Sir Tom Jones as coach. On Thursdays from 18th May to 13th Sept you can experience scuba diving in our heated outdoor pool with our PADI qualified instructors.

Happy to Help!  Most facilities, including the pools, have wheelchair access and designated parking. There are facilities for disabled access in the touring shower block.

All TVs have subtitles, and there is an induction loop system in reception.

Taxi Service – we can offer a reliable taxi service with A2B Taxis. Their collection point is outside reception. The telephone number is 01637 877777.

To ensure you have a safe holiday please read the safety notices below Always keep away from grass cutting, tractors and work vehicles.

When our staff are grass cutting and strimming you must stay clear of machinery and close any doors until it has passed well away from your accommodation.

Never let children approach our vehicles.

Always respect our speed limit of 5 miles per hour.

Please respect our staff and facilities and we will be pleased to ensure that your holiday is a great experience.

Our holidays are primarily for families and your behaviour should be appropriate. We ask that you do not disturb your neighbours, and any guests who do not respect neighbours, regardless of age, will be asked to leave the park without a refund.

What happens to the barriers/security at night?

You can come in and out of the site at any time throughout the night, though we ask that you do not drive around the site late and that you be respectful of your neighbours.

What do I do if reception is closed and I want to check out?

Put your key in the key box outside of Reception. If you are touring or camping you do not have to come into Reception to check out.

Are there any cash machines on the park?

There are cash machines in the Terrace Bar & Restaurant foyer and in the Supermarket, please note these charge a fee. The nearest cash machine outside of the park is at Morrison’s Supermarket, about half a mile away.

Where can I charge my phone?

You can charge your phone for a small fee in Reception.

Is there Wi-Fi on site?

There is free Wi-Fi in the Terrace Bar & Restaurant and on the Pool Terrace. Just ask at the Bar for help connecting.

Can we walk into town? How long does it take?

You can walk into town; allow 40 minutes to an hour. Be aware though that there are a few hills and busy roads! Please go to Reception for directions.

What are the bus times?

Bus times vary throughout the season. You can find up to date times at Reception or by the bus stop.

Where is the nearest cinema?

The nearest is The Lighthouse Cinema which is in the centre of town.

Where is the nearest large supermarket?

Morrison’s is just down the road. Turn left out of the site and go right at the roundabout.

Morrison’s is on your left. There is also a Nisa supermarket on site.

Being Green, Greener and Greenest!

The Hendra Team always want to be as green as possible; we have already achieved a huge amount and you can do your bit as well. It’s great fun for the kids to get involved too!

Hendra produces on average the same amount of rubbish as a small town, every week, so it is vitally important that everyone does their bit to recycle as much as possible. This will keep the costs down so we can continue to offer fantastic value holidays!

Henry Hippo has recycling stations around the Park so paper, card, glass bottles and cans can be sorted fast! Henry and Henrietta are always grateful for the help, and love to recycle!

Our shower blocks and toilets use reduced water systems and we keep lighting to a minimum so you can enjoy the stars at night!

You can be green by using your car less and by taking the bus. It couldn’t be easier!

Hendra is on the bus route with a bus stop and shelter right outside the site, with regular buses into town and to the beaches, and across the road there are buses to The Eden Project.

If you have an electric car, then fuel up for free at Hendra with our electric car points!

Hendra Environmental Here at Hendra we want to make sure we operate an environmentally sustainable business.

Our biomass boiler heats the Oasis Pools using locally sourced wood chips. It also heats the water for the outdoor pool and a shower block. This will save tonnes of CO2!

We’ve improved the eco-rating of toilets and shower blocks with smart energy saving lighting and state-of-the-art shower heads.
