Your holiday starts here… This welcome guide will answer any questions you may have about the facilities and entertainment, what to do around the park and what to see and enjoy around Newquay and Cornwall, to provide you with lasting memories of your holiday in this special part of England.
So much to see and do… Our friendly staff can give you lots of tips and advice on the best places to visit, beaches, shopping and entertainment, and if you have any queries they will do their best to assist and advise – pop into Hendra’s reception for maps, leaflets and guides on hundreds of places to visit and info sheets on the best beaches, walks etc. In the centre pages of this guide are vouchers where we have arranged discounted entrance fees for many top attractions for our guests.

Everything’s here for you Put your feet up, relax, and take a few minutes to find out more about the facilities around the park. Great places for fun, entertainment and relaxation... The Oasis Fun pools complex is probably where most of our guests spend their time, especially with the children! With three sensational waterslides in the indoor pools it’s the fun place to be when the weather is less favourable. The outdoor pools are a must to cool down on hot days and the pool terrace is a great place to relax. Sports and games field - take a look at our large games field for organised games, a kick about with a ball or a game of pitch and putt. Located through the gate past Laurel Field, this is where you’ll find various extra activities like the Segway Tours, and other events as they become available throughout the season. Play areas and amusements - the Soft Play, which is located on the way to the Club, is an indoor soft play facility for the under 6s and there are lots of other indoor amusements including arcade games and Bowlingo to keep everyone occupied for hours. Scooter and Skate park - this amazing facility is for children and young teenagers. It will keep them happily skateboarding and scootering in a safe and exciting environment all day! Family activities - we know that if the kids are happy you will be too - so check out the big blue notice board outside the Club for details of various events taking place on the park and don’t miss meeting Henry or Henrietta at breakfast or in the evening or on the free train rides around the park. The Club cabaret bar - the highlight of the holiday for many of our guests who are looking for live on stage evening entertainment, bingo and lots more. Once the sun’s gone down get ready for an evening of brilliant entertainment in the Club. Masses to enjoy for all ages from the early evening children’s club with Henry and Henrietta Hippo to prize Bingo and family games, to late evening entertainment with the Hendra Entz Crew and live on stage music and variety acts! See pages 18 to 21. Outdoor Fitness - NEW THIS YEAR - For guests who like to stay in shape on their holiday we now have a brilliant and fun way to get some exercise right on site… a gym workout outdoors, just off the main roundabout. Play Park and Traversing Wall - NEW THIS YEAR - Children can burn off that holiday energy with our fantastic outdoor children’s playground and amazing traversing wall for little adventures! Archery, Laser Clay Shooting and Scuba Diving - NEW THIS YEAR - Have a go at these exciting sports, great fun activities for the whole family!*

Great places to eat With so much choice... there’s a different dish to enjoy for every day of your holiday! The Tavern Restaurant, Bar and Coffee Express Bar Wake up each day of your holiday and treat yourself to a great breakfast in the Tavern Restaurant, no shopping, no washing up, just take it easy over a full English, or something more continental. Or, if you are planning a more laid back start to the day, stroll over for a leisurely brunch or lunch on the terrace or be tempted by a delicious pastry or snack from the Coffee Express bar! Bring the kids for an energy boosting snack to keep them going through the day! A great choice for dinner and supper too!
The Pool Terrace Chill out on the new contemporary styled terrace with patio heating for the cooler weather. You can enjoy your Tavern Restaurant meal or drinks, morning coffee or late supper here, overlooking the outdoor pools and sun terraces.
Mario’s Pizzeria Not only an excellent pizza take-away but you can eat in, and it has its own bar and secluded terrace too for when you want a quieter ambiance. Live music during the summer evenings! See the notice board for additional details and opening times.
Hendra’s own traditional Fish & Chip shop No holiday is complete without a traditional fish and chip supper and now you can pop in and get yours from our very own takeaway. Located adjacent to Mario’s.

All your essentials are here too! Check out the noticeboards for opening times of the various facilities which may vary throughout the season. The Supermarket - with its own bakery for fresh baked bread, tasty pastries daily, and all your other shopping, also sells camping essentials, camping gas and barbeques, toys and gifts, ice cream, beer and wines, beach goods, newspapers and magazines... and a whole lot of other things too! The Launderette - essential for making your holiday chores as hassle free as possible, especially for families with small children and those who are touring with minimal luggage! Here you can do a full wash and dry, and even iron everything too! It is open from 8am until late, and £4 (4 x £1 coins are required), for one wash, with washing powder dispensed; it is £1 for 15 minutes in the tumble dryer, and 20p for 5 minutes ironing. The Hire shop - forgot something, or need extra kit or equipment? Then see the list on page 49 and give the Hire Shop a call...a small deposit and you’re sorted! Superb Toilet and Shower facilities - Winners, year after year, of the Loo of the Year Award, you’ll find them conveniently placed throughout the touring areas of the park. There are those for the whole family, those suitable for disabled, all are equipped to a very high standard and most are heated too! Water and Waste disposal points you’ll never have far to go to find water and waste points across the park. Check out your park map for locations. Refuse and recycling points we are proud of our awards for sustainability and environmental responsibility. You can help too by recycling as much as you can at the recycling points around the park. Fantastic Fun for everyone! You’ll find so much to fill every day with excitement and fun that you’ll probably never leave the park!
To see what’s going on pick up our entertainment leaflet from Reception. At Hendra we know how important it is to keep all ages entertained, so there really is something for everyone. Tiny tots will enjoy the play area in the Soft Play* room, and the new Play Park next to the Laundrette. Older children will spend hours in our Skate and Scooter Park and have lots of adventures on our new Traversing Wall! Kids can get a glimpse into what it is like to survive in the wilderness with Hendra’s Survival Lessons! Learn how to make a fire and gut a fish! Teenagers and the whole family will have fun trying new things such as going on a Segway Tour*, a unique form of transport likened to gliding on a magic carpet, and testing their skills with Archery*, Laser Clay Shooting* or Scuba Diving*. *charges apply
Events change on a daily basis for Maximum Fun! So check out the big blue notice board by the Club for the activities and event times and locations.

Look out for Henry or Henrietta in the Tavern Restaurant hunting for breakfast! Make sure you catch the Hendra Train at 9am (free to all) for a tour around the park before you start your day! Then meet up in the Club from 6.30pm for loads of fun and interactive games from face painting to dancing to your favourite chart music, meeting Henry and Henrietta and your favourite Crew member! Then there will be family game shows, fancy dress competitions and lots more! Please note children under 6 years old need to have an adult with them at all times.
Soft Play For children 6 years and under, meet in the Soft Play room for soft play and activities. Any child under 4 years must have an adult with them at all times. Open on Mondays and Fridays from 9.00am to 10.30am. All other mornings 9.00am to 11.30am. Open every evening 4.00pm until 6.00pm. At busy times 30 minute session will be operated. A must visit attraction whilst staying at Hendra Holiday Park... The biggest fun pools complex in the South West is right here on site! Just a short walk from your caravan or pitch and open from 10am – 6pm every day. Everyone can have safe and splashy fun whatever the weather - you’ll never want to get out of the indoor pools! Three water flumes, the fast and furious high speed aqua whizz flume, the wet and wild 265ft super flume and the gentle fun slide, plus river rapids, a geyser, waterfall and fountains, you can’t get any wetter! For those who prefer not to get wet there are lots of loungers and deckchairs to relax on whilst the family enjoy themselves! Indoors or out, rain or shine… the outdoor pool is a super place to cool off when it’s hot, to sunbathe or just relax with family and friends! The outdoor pool area is where you’ll find lots of extra activities in school holiday periods too, from Water-Walkers to Archery, Laser Clay Shooting and Bush Survival lessons! Non-swimmers under 9 years must be accompanied in the water at a ratio of 1 adult to 2 children. All children under 5 years, regardless of swimming ability, must be accompanied by an adult in the water at a ratio of 1 adult to 2 children. The pools have a capacity limit for the health and safety of pool users and during peak season and busy times we may restrict entry to Hendra Holiday Park guests only and/or operate swimming sessions of 1 hour 30 minutes.

How can I get a Loyalty Card if this is my first visit? You become eligible for a Loyalty Card after you book your next holiday with us. This year we have installed a new biomass boiler to heat the Oasis Pools using locally sourced wood chips. This will save tonnes of CO2! In 2012 we won the Britain in Bloom Commercial award from the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society; the UK’s leading gardening charity) for our glorious grounds and dedication to keeping Hendra green! We also won another Gold David Bellamy Award for our grounds and conservation! SunPower Meadow opened in 2011, with 10 acres of Solar Panels which suck up enough sunshine to make over 70% of the electricity used on the Park! Being Green, Greener and Greenest! The Hendra Team always want to be as green as possible, we have already achieved a huge amount and you can do your bit as well. It’s great fun for the kids to get involved too! Hendra produces on average the same amount of rubbish as a small town, every week, so it is vitally important that everyone does their bit to recycle as much as possible. This will keep the costs down so we can continue to offer fantastic value holidays! Henry Hippo has recycling stations around the Park so paper, card, glass bottles and cans can be sorted fast! Henry and Henrietta are always grateful for the help, and love to recycle! Our shower blocks and toilets use reduced water systems and we keep lighting to a minimum so you can enjoy the stars at night! You can be green by using your car less when you are away, by taking the bus. It couldn’t be easier! Hendra is on the bus route with a bus stop and shelter right outside the site, with regular buses into town and to the beaches, and across the road there are buses to The Eden Project. What do we do if there is a security or maintenance issue? Report it to Reception or call our Customer Service Hotline on 07967 852152. If you need assistance after Reception has closed you can call the night Warden on 07967 852152. What happens to the barriers/security at night? You can come in and out of the site at any time throughout the night, though we ask that you do not drive around the site late and be respectful of your neighbours. What do I do if reception is closed and I want to check out? Put your key in the key box outside of Reception. If you are touring or camping you do not have to come into Reception to check out. Are there any cash machines on the park? There are cash machines in the Tavern Bar foyer and in the supermarket. The nearest cash machine outside of the park is at Morrison’s Supermarket, about half a mile away. Where can I charge my phone? You can charge your phone for a small fee in Reception. Is there Wi-Fi on site? There is free Wi-Fi in the Tavern Bar and on the Pool Terrace. Just ask at the Bar for the code. Can we walk into town? How long does it take? You can walk into town; allow 40 minutes to an hour. Be aware though that there are a few hills and busy roads! Please go to Reception for directions. What are the bus times? Bus times vary throughout the season. You can find up to date times at Reception or by the bus stop. Where is the nearest cinema? The nearest cinema is The Lighthouse Cinema which is in the centre of town. Where is the nearest large supermarket? Morrison’s is just down the road. Turn left out of the site and go right at the roundabout. Morrison’s is on your left. There is also a Nisa supermarket on site.
