Building for the future at Hempfield Park
A park is a place for a community to come together. Every year, Hempfield Park is a gathering place for people of every background, to meet friends, to be with family, to work on their health, or to have a quiet moment. In 2020, the park was a refuge from the uncertainty of a tumultuous year, and a place to gather safely and experience normalcy again. As a potential donor, you have the opportunity to impact our community in the most positive way. As a potential supporter of the Hempfield Park Rehabilitation Project, you will help the Parks & Recreation Department serve our great community. As we near the finish line, we are seeking your support. Your commitment, big or small, is an investment into Hempfield Park for every generation to enjoy!
Beginning in 2015, Hempfield Township began an ambitious project to rehabilitate Hempfield Park. The overall focus of the master plan is to rehabilitate our existing facilities, and add new facilities to serve our community. The master plan has been broken out into manageable projects to maximize grant funding, all while securing additional fundraising throughout. Specifically, the plan focused on the following improvement areas: •
Renovate existing pavilions

Rehabilitate the Upper Soccer Fields

Construct a new pavilion

Build a new restroom for the Upper Field Complex
•
Rehabilitate and rededicate Mazeroski Field
•
Construct a new Dog Park
•
Create accessible pathways

Build an outdoor amphitheater

Renovate existing park restrooms
•
Build a new inclusive playground
•
Rehabilitate the Upper Baseball/Softball Field
•
Improve safety and security throughout the park
A commitment to success To reach our goals, the Township has secured grants, fundraised, and committed funds from the Hempfield Parks Fund to complete these projects. This push for funding has resulted in over $1.8 million dollars for the Upper Field Complex rehabilitation, Pavilion “F” construction, Inclusive Playground, and new Dog Park. Building for the future at Hempfield Park Though we have had great success in fundraising, the current total project costs exceed $2.25 million. With your help, we can reach our goal without sacrificing function and amenities for our community. This is a large commitment, but we are a large community that supports one another. As we all witnessed in 2020, Hempfield Township is able to come together to support our families, our friends, and our businesses. The Dog Park at Hempfield Park
Hempfield Township Parks & Recreation is excited to announce the upcoming opening of the Dog Park at Hempfield Park! Our fully enclosed, 1.5-acre dog park features four controlled dog runs, a pet fountain with bottle filler, ADA accessible gated entries, multiple bench pads, and a 32-space parking lot. The facility will be open year-round, weather dependent. Costing just over $332,000, the Dog Park will be one of only a few designated off-leash dog exercise and socialization areas in Westmoreland County. We are seeking supporters big and small to help us finish the new community space. From benches and trees, to full facility naming partners, there is a donation level for everyone. We look forward to your support, and seeing you and your four-legged friend at the new Dog Park!

Hempfield Park - Upper Field Complex
Hempfield Township Parks & Recreation is excited to announce the upcoming grand reopening of the Hempfield Park Upper Field Complex! This newly rehabilitated area includes a new 80’ baseball and softball diamond, new dugouts, bleachers, and LED field lighting! Additionally, we have renovated our upper multi-purpose field to include LED field lighting, new seating, and accessible pathways and parking. Lastly, we completed the project with a new pavilion that includes multi-user restrooms, concessions, vending machines, and picnic table seating. This area is a highlight of Hempfield Park, and one of the premier sports destinations in Westmoreland County!
This major capital improvement was possible through nearly $1.5 million in grant funding, and support from our Hempfield Township Parks Fund. To crown this achievement and get us over the finish line, we are looking for our community to help us finish this project.
