HOW TO PRACTICE SELF LOVE Tis the season for spreading love! As you focus on spreading love to everyone else, remember that this is also a great month to practice self-love. What does that mean and how can you accomplish it? Caring and loving yourself is not only good for the mind and body, but it can help strengthen your everyday relationships. Here are some great tips to show yourself a little appreciation this month.

SPEND TIME OUTSIDE The vitamin D that you get from the sun can help you sleep better, improve your mood, support weight loss, and even regulate your blood pressure!

EAT HEALTHY FOODS The vitamins and minerals from the healthy food you eat can help regulate blood sugar, boost your immune system, and leave you feeling more energized to take on the day!

CONNECT WITH LOVED ONES Its no secret that your mood can be influence by socialization. Call a family member, have dinner with a friend, or even make a new friend!

LEARN SOMETHING NEW Keeping your mind active is a great way to practice self-love. Whether its painting, dancing, trying out new recipes, or learning a new form of technology you are gaining knowledge and that is something to be proud of!

REIGNITE OLD PASSIONS Watch your favourite childhood cartoon, eat your favourite ice cream, dance like no one is watching. Whatever used to bring you joy then, chances are it will now!

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER Drinking water is a great refresher to feeling like yourself again! Men should drink about 3.7 liters and women should have 2.7 liters!

BLACK HISTORY MONTH Black History Month, celebrated annually in February, is a time to recognize and honor the achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout history. This month-long observance aims to educate people about the struggles and triumphs of the Black community, highlighting key figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, and many others who have played pivotal roles in shaping the course of history. By shedding light on the rich cultural heritage and significant milestones of African Americans, Black History Month serves as a reminder of the importance of diversity, equality, and inclusivity in our society. Let's take this opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate the remarkable legacy of Black individuals who have made a lasting impact on our world.

Resources Visit Helping Hands of Vegas at hhovv.org for more information about our programs and services. We offer programs and services to residents in Southern Nevada at “no cost.” We define our senior citizens as gently aging and are eligible for services through Helping Hands of Vegas Valley at the age of 60 and older. Most programs require identification and proof of residency. Our pantry program asks for a little more information as it is federally funded and supported.

PANTRY

We provide free groceries and paper goods to *eligible seniors. Open pantry is available Monday -Wednesday from 8 am to 12 noon. Delivery is also available for our home-bound seniors. *Income level must be at or below 185% of federal poverty guideline and reside in Clark County.

NUTRITION 702.281.3977 Seniors participate in activities, receive valuable information and access to beneficial resources. And, more importantly a chef-prepared meal to enjoy among new friends.

RURAL DELIVERED MEAL PROGRAM 702.507.1845 A supplemental food program that ships nutritious meals once a month to the doorstep of Seniors 60+ in select areas of Rural Nevada. This program serves homebound seniors due to illness, disability, and/or unable to attend congregate meal sites, food pantries, or grocery stores.
