Judgment does play a key role in first impressions, and people in our society judge even if they don't mean to. Physical appearance matters, the person you are meeting for the first time does not know you and your appearance is usually their first clue they go off of. And what about your personal grooming? Are you clean and tidy? Or do you only shower occasionally and emit a horrible body odor. Before you leave home, make sure you are appropriately groomed and dressed.
Use body language to project confidence and self–assurance, stand tall, make eye contact, and smile. All of this will help you project confidence. Good manners, being attentive, polite and courteous behavior help make a good impression. Exhibiting anything less can ruin the chance at making a good first impression.
I have experienced countless, bad first impressions, many of my best friends and acquaintances say that when they first saw me I looked mean and stuck–up, or conceited. They had never talked to me, yet, from just my facial expressions and body language they assumed I was a mean person. However, once they got to know me they have the same opinion I am actually a nice person and a great friend. I have met people and judged them as well.
