"Alder has a strong association with defence. It weaves a spell of protection to guard against attack, be it of a country or an individual.

In Celtic myth, we read of palisades of alders that deter invasion or keep prisoners confined, and these fences are sometimes described as being decorted by a row of severed human heads. But Alder needs no such grisly displays - it offers a wholehearted defence, if necessary with a fearsome aspect. Your own deep instincts know when someone or something is threatening your boundaries, or when your personal territory is invaded. If you do not command it to leave, if you do not defend your space, then you dishonour yourself by giving away your power. The appearance of Alder in a reading suggests a need to defend your territory or to clear the way before you.

When cut, the sap of the alder assumes a rusty colour, which gave rise to the idea that the tree was bleeding. In the ancient world this was seen as an indication of the tree's generosity, that it was giving of itself to help defend the land. Seeing as alders grow most often by water and generally help to make the soil rich by their very presence, this was not difficult to understand. Since time immemorial the alder has provided a strong dye, and this has led to its widespread use by spinners and weavers."

Along with other deities like Ceres and Cybele, he oversaw the renewal of spring growth and encouraged the continuation of life. All the good parts of Yang!

And even though this month runs rampant with masculine qualities like assertion and conquest – it also holds a plethora of dates devoted to the mother and the feminine principle.

March 8th has been established as International Woman's day! How fascinating, as this is a month that celebrates women and motherhood. Women don't have to be mothers to represent the symbolic meaning of care, compassion and feminine power.

Coventina was a Romano-Celtic Goddess of Water and Sacred wells. She gives March meaning because she is honoured this month for her gifts of nourishment, replenishment, renewal and inspiration. She is a matron of childbirth and the natural cycles of life. Her symbol is the cauldron, chalice and/or wells. Perhaps she is honoured this month because March represents the first birth pang of Spring. The ancient Celts celebrated Coventina by tossing sacred items (coins, brooches, valued personal items) in various wells and bodies of water.

March brings with it the promise of gardening and warmer, sunny days as Earth turns its frostbitten cheek to winter and springs forth from the vernal equinox.

This month brings the first day of Spring with the vernal equinox - the start of new beginnings.

There is no stopping the burgeoning birth of new life at this point in the year.

March compels us to confident expression and focused action. This is not the time to drop our dreams.

March is symbolic of reigniting the hearts and consciousness of humankind. This month we feel the initial kicks of Spring from the deepest womb of Mother Earth.

And like our ancestors, we are quickened…our soul yearns for new conquest as we set a bold course for forward-momentum towards our goals.

March Power Symbolism for Change-makers.

The March symbolism doesn't require you to take on this yang energy but reminds you to avoid copying other people's lifestyles and have your personal rules. It is about asserting in a non-aggressive way by trying out new ways of doing things. No holds barred on this - do not restrict yourself but be more ambitious and focus on the things that make you happier.

Enjoy this confidence but use it without aggression. When conversing with someone, look in their eye and be grounded in what you say. Do not fear to say no if you disagree with something or someone. Lovingly agree to disagree.

So on to Aquamarine, Bloodstone and the Emerald Green of the Alder Tree.

Firstly, a word about crystals. According to experts, crystals act as a power hold for healing as they allow positive, fruitful energy to flow into the body. Like other forms of alternative therapy, crystals work by channelizing your energy levels, thereby, focus on healing your body from the inside. Since they are all naturally extracted, they harness the energies of the sun, moon, and oceans (all-natural healing energies) to improve our state. When you place or hold a crystal over the body, it interacts with the body's chakras and promotes physical and mental wellness. There is no science to back the power of crystal healing in treating or curing conditions, but their potency has been used for millenia by man to heal and bring fortune .

When meditating with Aquamarine, people believed it enhanced their paranormal abilities and aided in the occurrence of epiphanies. They focused on the stone's perceived ability of calm reflection.

Other legends say that Aquamarine helped with decision making, perseverance, and responsibility. People felt it aided with clear reasoning and feeling empowered during debates to come to a compromise. The two stones are altogether different from each other regarding what they look like, yet both offer a similar symbolism that improves and safeguards the health and well-being of whoever wears them. Serene Aquamarine invokes the tranquillity of the sea. Its name is from the Latin word aqua, which means water, and marina, which means the sea. This links back to Coventina and her wells and streams!

It's a stone that's generally light-toned and exhibits shades that range from blue to blue-green. The colour intensifies in bigger stones. Darker blue stones are also found and are more valuable.

The tranquil colours of Aquamarine can cool down hot March tempers, helping you remain centred and level-headed.

Aquamarine has long been revered for its powers. In medieval times, many believed that the simple act of wearing or carrying Aquamarine was an antidote to poisoning. The Jews, Egyptians, and Sumerians all appreciated Aquamarine, and many warriors would wear it to battle to achieve victory.

Many ancient medicines used powder from Aquamarine to help cure all kinds of infection, but it was said to be especially useful for eye afflictions. The stone is thought to be an incredible help in achieving emotional well-being. It is used widely as a symbol in the Tarot and as a meditation aid.

Mentions of its capacity to heal go back to 5000 BC. The Babylonians used Bloodstone in their divination. The Egyptians prized the mineral since they believed it would help them magically vanquish their foes. They also thought it increased their strength and made them invincible.

Still others believed that Bloodstone could help control or change the weather, win fights in court, or give the gift of prophecy. The typical splashes of red all over this gem is believed to embody life as it came from - pure, vital blood.

Bloodstone can provide bravery and peace to those asked to provide for the greater good of all. It brings out the best and most selfless qualities in individuals who wear or carry them.

Bloodstone was prized as a stone of healthy and long life and brought respect, luck, wealth, and reputation to its owner. It guards its bearer against trickery, aids in defeating adversaries in war, and ensures a win in the courtyard for legal problems.

At the same time, it was believed to have enchanted abilities, such as influencing the weather by preventing lightning, summoning storms, etc.Bloodstone has accumulated many wonderful meanings since it was understood.

BELIEFS MAKEOVER How to hack your mind to create a soul-led life.

It's said that change is one of the hardest things for humans to do. Even the feisty ones who are devoted to shifting and upleveling!

We all get stuck.

No matter how devoted we are to our personal growth and quantum leaps. Sometimes a 'plateau' seems to go on forever with no shift or up-level in sight!

We may be doing everything right in our daily practice!

But it gets to the 'Groundhog Day' stage, where we feel as though we are living exactly the same events over and over.

Research by psychologists has shown that on any given day, 99% of our thoughts are exactly the same as the day before. That means that we are trapped in reliving every day as an existence - a life - that seems not to change.

Is it any wonder we are plagued by despair, sadness, exhaustion, and addictions? The majority of these symptoms result from resentment, regret for the past, anxiety for the future, fear of uncertainty or doubt especially self-doubt or fear of something that might happen.

Why? Why aren't we naturally just showered by happy, positive miraculous thoughts every day, dammit!

This is when we get annoyed with ourselves and can often start a 'beating up' conversation in our heads.

Which is not a good idea. But, this is also the moment we should remind ourselves that nature built us with this weird paradox of being wired to feel the pull to grow and expand whilst programming us to resist that growth!

Some mind experts claim that we are challenged by fear. But that is not strictly true and way too simplistic.

The biggest resistance we all carry is not fear of the unknown but change itself.

Because of an epic quirk of biology, our mind (and therefore our body, made up 30 trillion cells) wants to keep us in familiar territory at all costs. That is the biology of our make-up. As modern humans, we are geared to life-long learning and growth. Our brain cells are continually forming new connections and restructuring our perceptions and physiology.

This neuroplasticity process happens thousands of times in a day, giving us enormous potential to change if we put awareness, effort and commitment into making it happen. Otherwise, even with lifethreatening events around us, we find ourselves automatically following the same routines, the same feelings, the same sensations, and the same stuckness.

Our triune brain has three parts: the so-called reptilian brain, which is responsible for our primary motives such as eating, sleeping and sex; the limbic system, which includes our emotions, connection with others, memory and habits; the pre-frontal cortex, which is responsible for synthesis and higher-order thinking.

Here's the thing: it takes more effort and energy to think about and do something new than continue reacting to life out of instinct or habit. So the majority of people stay in this state ping-pong of resistance many of them for life!

In fact, three resistances are going on:

1: The resistance to change - going beyond what is familiar and comfortable for you or your default subconscious functioning.

2. The resistance at the 'gatekeeper' stage of thought, i.e. your conscious mind is working overtime to try and work out how you're going to achieve what you want to achieve and conflicts with that subconscious default set point. This sets up an internal resistance that we're not aware is happening, but which is exhausting.

3. Then you have your soul's resistance to change -communicated to us by the lack of elevated emotions in our everyday lives and access to bliss and flow.

We find ourselves in a daily reality that has been created by an ancient default functioning that does not really correspond with our modern yearning to experience our highest vision of life or our soul quest.

So how do we hack this annoying biological blueprint? Though science is still new in explaining our soul's role in our growth, it has been proved that we absolutely must have heart-brain coherence for change to happen. We must get our hearts in charge of our minds and not the other way around.

Of course, willpower focused attention and mindful action can all help to push through resistance and rewire our habitual patterns. Creating rituals to embed new behaviours into daily life is key.

Reinforcing positive change with support and immediate feedback from others—a buddy, leader or coach—will also ignite our reward systems. The body associates new behaviours with positive emotions and learning.

But the most catalytic and durable change will settle in when we master that heartbrain coherence by living a life created by our soul, and then we align our thoughts and habits with that.

We create our reality through our FOCUS.

Anything that takes our focus or attention initiates thought, and thought creates a vibration. Whatever frequency we are vibrating

at,

we

attract

matching

frequency. By creating a lifestyle and habits that are of the highest vibe

(in

harmony with our soul vision), we begin to re-create the reality that our heart and soul desires!

The trick is to master mindfulness and know the difference between thinking and feeling! The question we should always be asking is, "What am I thinking, and what am I feeling while thinking this particular thought?" Find out the exact feeling that is generated when we have a rush of thoughts.

So try keeping a small notebook and tracking your inner dialogue over a week, or record your self-observations on your smartphone. It is only by stepping outside of ourselves that we can see what inner conversation running in the background and how it keeps us stuck.

I recommend discipline for your soul purpose or dreams - that means being a disciple for your highest life! The most lasting change will come when you commit to a soul-led life as 'the boss'.

That's when you start to become the empowered hero starring in your own movie. You can re-write the script exactly as you choose, and the more it makes your heart sing and your body tingle, the faster change will come!

So who or what is your soul? And why should you make her 'da boss' in all your decisions? We are talking here about the 'Real You', inside the lovely shell of your physical body – the part that makes you truly human with all your incredible potential, and not just a homo sapiens.

While we can change our bodies to a certain extent, our souls are truly boundless, shape-shifters. It is said that we are not humans having a spiritual experience, but souls in a physical body. How awesome is that? Together in coordination with your mind, we can eat a meal, play the piano, compose a poem, make a baby, feel ecstasy, and a lot more all at the same time, and that is in itself truly miraculous.

Your soul can literally do anything it sets its physical and eternal heart on. What your soul wants is what you truly want. Are you listening? .

How do you hear the voice of your soul and take heed of it?

1. When you do what you are naturally gifted or talented at, your soul will speak 2. When you love what you do, your soul will speak 3. When you do what you do best of all, your soul will speak

The elevated emotions that result from us engaging in activities that correspond to the above will open us to a state of flow - when our brainwaves are between alpha and theta.

This is the border between the conscious and the subconscious mind.

According to Sports Scientists, increased alpha brain waves precede peak performance.

When you are in intense creativity, you are having a mystical theta-alpha brainwave burst where you engage in deep dialogue with your divine mind, and you'll be surprised by your performance. This is the brain state of "being in the zone" or flow, where your work feels effortless. When you combine your loves and gifts and what fires your values, and if you use that to serve the community, others or the world, you will be right slap bang in the middle of fulfilling all of your human potential.

Your work becomes your purpose and your flow. This is when your vibe is the highest and your access to higher states of consciousness is opened. This is when you unleash your divine power. Because when you listen to your soul through the voice of your heart, when you act on its wisdom, you become a true creator.

To sum up then, if you truly want to break down all barriers and truly makeover the beliefs that serve your highest life - you will need to make the following protocols a daily habit: 1. Stop arguing for your limitations. We all do it - excuses create reality, even more than thoughts!

2. Identify where resistance comes from - use your intuition to define where your self imposed limitations come from, but don't let them define you!

3 Be uncompromising in making sure that each part of your expression, your gifts, what brings you bliss, your core values - not just ideals you keep for weekends, holidays and the future, but are a part of your daily experience. You will need to be ruthless about this, or you will find yourself at the end of the day with resentment, the end of the year with disappointment and the end of your life with regrets.

So start hacking, and don't stop.

"Your Future Is Green" I couldn't do a 'green' issue of the magazine without a whole food section devoted to green.

Where do we start? Green vegetables are literally a treasure trove of nutrients and phytochemicals.

And as we are also talking about all things ethical and sustainable, know that green food is the future, and green vegetables must be a part of that future. Green vegetables are an inexpensive source of so many essential nutrients, but in addition, their production does not harm the environment as animal production does.

There are endless health benefits associated with green foods, both scientific-based uses and anecdotal ones. Here are my favourites: Excellent source of prebiotics Alkalising effect on the body Liver detoxification Blood builder (for stronger haemoglobin) Energy aid Natural immune support A little internet research will lead you to see how green vegetables are also implicated in the healing of potentially fatal health challenges.

My third fav superfood is Matcha - a powdered green tea with a host of benefits, now very trendy as an ingredient!

If you've never used a green foods powder, start with a green foods blend, and take it on an empty stomach when possible (including a morning smoothie). Also, consider purchasing products made using low-heat processing, which retains more nutrients than other types of powders. With Matcha, shop for lead-free or Japanese Ceremonial grade.

Next comes Moringa. When it comes to moringa benefits, there are almost too many to count! Native to Africa and Asia, the Moringa Tree, or Moringa Oleifera to use its scientific name, is one of the most nutrientrich plants in the world.

It has a delicious spinachy green flavour, perfect for boosting curries, stews, casseroles, soups, salads, green smoothies and more.

All of these superfoods are such an easy way to XXL your phytonutrient intake in the form of smoothies. You don't even have to have kale or spinach in them! Just pick your favourite smoothie recipe and add the recommended daily dose of powder.

Now for some greening up of your menus, busy entrepreneur style!

With the great work we are doing in the world, we owe it to ourselves to make nutrition the holy grail of your highperformance protocols! Nutrition helps us focus better, stay disease and pain-free, focus on our missions and get stuff done!

As I always mention…you can search for any recipe online. My joy is to highlight the seasonal foods that will optimise your vitality and productivity and suggest menu ideas that are easy-peasy and super fast.

Salads: try and Kale and Spinach Ceasar salad with stir-fried tempeh and pine nuts.

Slice in some ripe avocado and dress with plenty of garlicky dressing. Allow to sit for 5 minutes so that the oil 'cooks' and breaks down the kale.

Use large Romaine leaves as spring rolls or wraps, rather than waist-expanding flour wraps, and stuff with any yummy concoction you can dream up. Right now, I am salivating at the thought of shredded lean chicken dressed with lemon, oil, and paprika, tossed with avo or cucumber raita and quinoa.

You can also pretty much make a green wrap with anything leftover in the fridge and not feel guilty!

Green beans are divine roasted with olive oil shallots and garlic. They pair well with just about any other veggie (any other food come to that!). They are simply scrummy wok-fried or under a velvety tarragon or mushroom sauce.

Last year my excess crop went under a brine to preserve them for a probiotic crisp aperitif dipper and mountains of bean and ginger chutney.

Another green staple - the courgette/zucchini - offers myriad ways to use. I'm loving spiralised strips and simply steamed or grated and tossed in lemon dressing with fresh herbs and roasted sunflower and squash seeds.

Then comes our friend, the cucumber, with its cooling qualities. I'm currently blending whole (rinsed) with watermelon for a refreshing and hydrating 'slush' or as part of a green Gazpacho soup (there are some fab ones if you search) topped with shrimp and torn up basil.

Broccoli rice is fantastic as a super-powered alternative to white rice, or mix with equal quantities of almond flour, some eggs and seasoning for yummy broccoli bread.

Finally, to get more benefits of green into your food, if you don't have a garden, fill a window ledge with herbs in pots and chop straight over your meals when serving!

Try avocados as your green BFF! Not just for toast but as fudge, ice-cream, cookies, cheesecake, avocado will send you to seventh heaven whether it's savoury or sweet!

Green apples are another BFF with a myriad of health benefits. These are a wonder food so make the most of them when they are in season.

Whatever you do to green up your cuisine, all year round. isn't your mouth watering just looking at the pix?

Finally, remember that food is intelligent!

It is sensitive to mood, intention, sound and vibration! So it follows then that green, waterdense food is no different! You can affect the benefits of your food by blessing it before consuming and visualising it healing and nourishing you to the maximum.

Gratitude and appreciation of your meals will enhance the frequency of the good, and your body!

You cannot go wrong getting more green, water-dense foods into your menus!

And remember to chew, chew, chew mindfully - both food and drink! You will feel the benefits in your digestion, your skin and your general energy!
