Local husband-and-wife team, Abbey and Chris Chivers, are passionate about crafting unforgettable elopement experiences through their business, Hitch & Ditch.
They have recently relocated to Coolum, drawing them closer to their roots and family.
This exciting transition also brings with it the opportunity to introduce Hitch and Ditch to Sunshine Coast couples looking for an intimate elopement, without sacrificing the elements that make it feel like a wedding.
They consider themselves a more personal option, for those that might otherwise utilise a registry office ceremony.
Their typical elopement sessions span two days, granting each couple a personalised and intimate 2 hour ceremony.
Their couples receive a comprehensive online image gallery and they adorn the ceremony space with the artistic touch of their featured florist and stylist, further elevating the experience.
They typically include a cake, catered canapés, a bar service and any other inclusions that align with the theme of the particular edition.
To see examples of their previous editions visit their website www.hitchandditch.com.au or Instagram.

Sunshine Coast Health has agreed in principle to extend the lease, meaning local, quality health care services will continue at Noosa Hospital.
With a 15 per cent growth projection predicted for Noosa by 2041, it is important that we invest in the area to manage the increasing need for health care.

The former decommissioned Tewantin TAFE campus will be given a new lease of life with plans for a Sunshine Coast School of Design to be built on the campus.
Renowned architects NRA Collaborative is selected as the preferred proponent.
NRA Collaborative has proposed to re-use the buildings to develop a new Sunshine Coast School of Design featuring educational facilities to service between 500 to 800 students annually, offering creative industry courses such as fashion, art, industrial design, architecture and interior design.
NRA Collaborative has also proposed to undertake further consultation with the support of a local steering committee on future initiatives, which may include a theatre, creative art space for the community, and a research facility to support the local koala population.
The site represents a significant part of the Tewantin community and its reactivation for the benefit of the residents in the Noosa region has been a key priority for the Queensland Government.
The State Government also respects the recent determination for the Kabi Kabi people which covers areas of Tewantin
The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) will work with NRA Collaborative to ensure a positive outcome for all.

As your local MP, I am honoured to have represented the electorate of Ninderry since 2017.
Prior to running for State Parliament, I was a detective in the Child Protection Unit here on the Sunshine Coast, having served in the Queensland Police Service for 25 years.
I put my hand up to run because I was on the front line when the Labor government started watering down the youth justice laws. Today, nearly a decade later, crime rates have skyrocketed, and our hard-working police feel like they’re working with one arm tied behind their back.
One of the top priorities for any government should be the security of its citizens, which is why I am passionate about law and order. Our police deserve the laws and resources they need to keep our communities safe, and the rights of victims must be put ahead of offenders.
I am also committed to retaining our way of life here on the Sunshine Coast – protecting and preserving our unique natural environment, while balancing the economic, social and cultural needs of our growing population.
Labor has been in power at a state level for nearly a decade, and our region has suffered as a result. Locals are missing out on their fair share because the current government has the wrong priorities. I’ve managed to secure significant funding for some key projects, but there’s much more that needs to be done, and I am keen to keep listening and fighting for the things that matter to locals, including safety where you live, health services when you need them, respect for your money, a place to call home, and a government that works for you.
Dan Purdie MP Member for Ninderry
Shadow Minister for Police and Community Safety
The State Election is fast approaching, on 26 October 2024. Most residents should have received an application for a postal vote in the mail. This is the best option if you are unable to get to a polling booth on election day, or to a pre-poll location, which will be open from 14 October, for 2 weeks leading up to the election
Pre-polling will be available at the Coolum Peregian RSL on David Low Way, and the Diddillibah Hall, on Diddillibah Road Both will be open Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm (from Monday 14 October). Polling booth locations will be announced in the coming week, once confirmed by the ECQ.
Dan Purdie MP - State LNP Member for Ninderry and Shadow Minister for Police and Community Safety
A special congratulations to Coolum State High School, who recently took out a very prestigious award at the Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools. The award recognizes their exceptional approach to senior schooling, which recognizes and values every individual student by providing meaningful pathways that are supported and nurtured. This is such a fantastic outcome for the school, its leaders, teachers, support staff and parents, who have long been committed to helping every student reach their potential. It’s just another example of the high standard of educational facilities in our community.
Locals will know my background as a Detective in the Child Protection Unit has shaped my strong views on law and order, which is why I am proud of the LNP’s commitment to establish a Public Child Sex Offender Register if we form government.
The laws will be known as Daniel’s Law, in recognition of the tireless campaigning of child safety advocates Bruce and Denise Morcombe following the abduction and murder of their son Daniel at the hands of a known pedophile.
The LNP will establish a new three-tiered register to protect children from sex offenders, as well as introduce new offences to prevent the misuse of any information from the register.
For more information about the register, and the LNP’s Making Queensland Safer policies, please get in touch.
Congratulations to the latest recipients of funding from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, including: Edgewater Village Mens Shed $27,441, Smart Pups $93,601, Soquilichi Rescue Ranch Inc $35,000, Sunshine Coast Paddlesports Club Inc $85,520, Eumundi QCWA $48,000, Verrierdale Community Group Inc $64,500.
The last round of the year, Round 122, is open now, and closes on 30 November.
Sunshine Butterflies, a lifeline for hundreds of individuals with disability on the Sunshine Coast, is calling on the community to lace up their shoes and spread their wings for the fourth annual Walk in Wings event as this year holds a special purpose: raising $20,000 for an essential Kubota vehicle for their 15-acre property.
Sunshine Butterflies Founder and CEO Leanne Walsh said the organisation’s "Farmability" program and Farm Animal Therapy sessions provide their members with a safe and supportive space to care for and interact with farm animals.
“Connecting with animals through body language, caring for them and helping maintain their living environments really has a special way of boosting social connections, self-confidence, and a sense of accomplishment.”
“Currently our main responsibilities like feeding, waste disposal, and manure spreading are done manually using wheelbarrows, so for this year’s Walk In Wings event we are walking with an additional goal — to raise $20,000 for a Kubota that will improve the wellbeing of our cherished farm animals and the safety of our members, staff and volunteers.”
Scheduled for Friday 11th October from 6am, Walk in Wings - proudly brought to you by Herbalife, is an all-inclusive 3km accessible loop along Noosa River on Gympie Terrace that unites schools, sporting groups, businesses, the general public and their dogs all dressed in playful butterfly wings or purple clothing.
Prizes for the most creative wings at the event include a staycation in a two-bedroom luxury apartment with breakfast thanks to RACV Noosa, and a hot air balloon ride for two with full breakfast thanks to HRM Contracting & Consulting.
Hot off the roaring success of Brisbane Lions AFL grand final win at the weekend, Ninderry MP Dan Purdie has recently announced that an LNP Government will fund the first stage of a highly anticipated new multi-purpose sport and recreation facility at Coolum State High School.
The new facility, located on existing fields at Coolum State High School, is a joint project with AFL Queensland, Coolum State High School and Sunshine Coast Council that will also include netball hardcourts and a senior cricket oval in future stages.
Coolum SHS P&C President Nicole Sklenars and Coolum Beach Breakers Junior AFL President Tyson Smalley welcome the $5million commitment to fund the first stage of a new multisport precinct in Coolum.
Mr Purdie said the $5million commitment will deliver the first stage of the new multi-milliondollar precinct to accommodate the Coolum Beach Breakers Junior AFL, featuring an A-grade quality playing field and a multi-use clubhouse.
“I’ve been working closely with the Club for some time now to progress these plans as part of an MOU with Coolum SHS, Council, AFL Qld and Cricket Qld, and this funding will allow us to deliver the first stage,” Mr Purdie said.
“This is a major step forward that will not only allow the Club to continue to grow, but also benefit the school and the wider community,” Mr Purdie said.
“Locals have told me we need more and better sports facilities to cater for the growing demand in our community, and that is exactly what we are delivering.”
Coolum Beach Breakers Junior AFL President Tyson Smalley said the funding commitment was a great way to cap off a fantastic year for the Club.
Coolum SHS P&C President Nicole Sklenars said it was fantastic news for the students at Coolum SHS who will have access to top class training and playing fields. Concept Plan
